  1. I want to see them buy Liverpool, change the kit and the name, the badge and all the history the bin-dippers hold so dear
  2. That's not true at all. Stan didn't deliver what Liverpool were expecting of him, but he did score 37 goals in 74 appearances for them which is a perfect 1 in 2 strike rate. They were always going to get a huge chunk of their money back for him. Yeah, poor comparison. Both a problem, but one of them did actually deliver the goods on the pitch.
  3. Phenomenal talent unfulfilled. An on-form Stan was pretty much unplayable. Shame things happened the way they did, had all the talent to be an England & Villa legend.

    Hats

Huge hat fan! Got all sorts, from straw hats to fisherman caps to, er, lots of others that I don't know the correct names for.

    U.S. Politics

Well he was in '75, so yes. The PM is appointed by the governor-general, who is the representative of the Queen. The queen could instruct her representative to appoint a new PM at any time. She doesn't have these powers as queen of England, but as Australia's queen... legally Oz is a monarchy with a royal family. It's more of a theoretical yes than a practical yes though.

Back in the 70s, Australia had a govt shut-down too. http://wapo.st/1aJAbsd
  7. Slightly over-produced by their standards, and my tastes, but a cracking album nevertheless.
  8. Brazil also facing accusations of slave labour. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-24292174
  9. I can't stand Elton John, but I think Rocket Man is a brilliant song.
  10. Standard issue service weapon I think is the phrase Yep, that's the phrase I was hopelessly looking for!
  11. All joking aside, it really is about time he got another bite of the cherry. He did a top job at Charlton Athletic and is a safe pair of hands, especially for a club like Sunderland who probably crave some stability right now. Totally. I can only presume he perhaps has a reputation "behind the scenes" for being difficult, or something similar? As you say, great job at Charlton and he was doing well at West Ham too. I'd have taken him at Villa over Houllier or McLeish every time.
  12. Each country's Army's main choice of weapon?
  13. Better then the nation who doesn't even refer to football by it's correct name... Australia calls it soccer too ya know.
  14. Our viewing times would be rubbish here, sure, but Australia was always the standout candidate by miles. The Aussies are entitled to and should get their claws into FIFA as much as they can. Pretty much the same viewing times as Korea/Japan I should think, everyone seemed to cope! Australia would do a great job, but i imagine their political clout with FIFA is pretty negligible.
  15. You'd be pretty furious if you were one of the countries that bid and lost. How many millions pissed up the wall? What a farce.

    Chelsea

Made a good start towards defending their Europa League crown tonight.
  17. Dunno if there's a view of the challenge that I haven't seen, but it all looked remarkably tame to me.
  18. As usual, England entirely incapable of simply passing the ball. Nothing ever changes.
  19. What a lovely surprise it was to land in Heathrow Sunday morning and check the football results :)

And indeed he's confirmed he never said what is being reported! Ha!

Really? I saw something to this effect on twitter, the whole thing blew up from one guy tweeting a "quote" from an interview in Uruguay apparently. Also saw a few comments along the lines of "He's staying! he may be a lying racist cannibal, but he's OUR lying racist cannibal YNWA"
