  1. Replicas is an excellent album Nobody here will of course have heard of it, but I'm loving the new Brillig album - dark folk/country tales...
  2. Yeah, all those lives Morrissey ruined eh? What a tosser.
  3. Personally I couldn't give a toss about the Apple fanboys, their marketing etc. All I know is I spent 10 years tearing my hair out using crappy unreliable crash-tastic PC-based recording studios before switching to an iMac which has given me zero problems in 5 years. For that reason alone, I'll always have time for Apple. Microsoft on the other hand... aaarrrggghhh.

Since discovering the FB Purity plugin (http://www.fbpurity.com) , facebook is far more bearable... no more ads, sponsored posts, game requests etc etc. Cleans it up a treat

That is just stunning. Although come to think of it, what do they define as an "active user?" People that joined I suspect
  6. Just try and think of the bits that offend you as a kind of tax on the bits that didn't...
  7. Whilst I'm not one to aim poor taste comments at any dead person or their family, I think your comment displays a massive amount of ignorance and/or naivety. actually no, my comment displays a massive amount of decency. Well I guess that's more than she ever showed.
  8. Well, he got himself sacked which probably increases Sunderland's chances of staying up at our expense. I have no doubt he did this to spite Villa, it's totally in character.
  9. From Billy Bragg: This is not a time for celebration. The death of Margaret Thatcher is nothing more than a salient reminder of how Britain got into the mess that we are in today. Of why ordinary working people are no longer able to earn enough from one job to support a family; of why there is a shortage of decent affordable housing; of why domestic growth is driven by credit, not by real incomes; of why tax-payers are forced to top up wages; of why a spiteful government seeks to penalise the poor for having an extra bedroom; of why Rupert Murdoch became so powerful; of why cynicism and greed became the hallmarks of our society.
  10. I don't think I've ever celebrated a death, but I'm more than happy to make an exception for this one. Good riddance.
  11. Balotelli to be fined for being caught smoking in the toilets of a train on the way to the Fiorentina game
  12. I got the 09/10 home kit the other day in Rebel Sport for $20. Really comfy to play in! Hmm can't see it on their website. Or was it in one of those discount bins? Just scored the 10/11 kit on the weekend - same price, same shop!

    Barton

and a fantastic role model for those kids who follow him or see his tweets on twitter. Of course that is modern day society, but he shouldn't do it. thinking for himself? speaking his mind? having a sense of humour? he might be an arse at times, but at least he displays some semblance of personality which is more than you can say of most footballers. and given all the other wonderful things our kids can access on the internet, i think barton ranks pretty low on the list of things to be worried about.
  14. Very much enjoying this one at the moment. In fact, I think all my favourite Australian beers are Pale Ales.
  15. Yet nobody gave a flying **** when he got the Swindon job.
  16. The British press loves a good story about them evil foreigners!

    Barton is top entertainment.
  18. I suspect Big Johns point is that the club made ridiculous spending decision with or without MON. Ergo - looking at it with the benefit of hindsight - the man most deserving of blame is probably Lerner. Still, I'm pretty sure you two can get this thread to 200 pages without ever agreeing on anything
  19. Whatever happens, it'll be entertaining. I think it's great that he's in the Premier League now, the game needs some more characters. He was doing a bloody good job at Swindon, so he's got something about him for sure and I think he'll galvanise the team and steer them to safety. Bad news for Villa I reckon. But if it goes wrong, it'll go very very badly wrong I'm not sure of the relevance of his political views, he struck me as a fair and sporting individual on the pitch - seems a far less unsavoury character than Terry or Suarez for example.
  20. Possibly why he made a good start with us but ran out of steam towards the end.

    Relegation

It makes me feel very uncomfortable seeing Lambert's regular statements that "we won't go down". Managers that make those statements have a habit of being relegated.
  22. MON did a very good to excellent job everywhere he's been, bar Sunderland. I reckon he's certainly lost his spark now though and I suspect his time has passed. Maybe one last hurrah as an international manager before retirement.
  23. I suspect none of us actually have a clue as to his political beliefs. DiCanio has been saying for years that the "facsist not racist quote" was taken out of context and hyped up for attention, and it's not exactly hard to imagine the press doing that is it?! I reckon he'll be a real success or an utter disaster - nothing inbetween. If nothing else, it'll be an interesting ride for the Sunderland fans!
  24. Always great watching Shaw, Morley & co - thanks for posting!
