  4. agreed, he was brilliant in central midfield in his last season at west ham.
  5. I dunno about the Pires comparison, surely Cole hasn't fallen that far yet! Nearest comparison for me would perhaps be Patrik Berger?

Gutted to wake up to this news this morning, gutted. Such a huge part of my youth. So damn many brilliantly funny characters... Rick, Richie, Kevin Turvey, Flashheart, B'stard... Comic Strip Presents showed just what a talented actor he was too, as well as being a genius comedian. So sad.
  7. Was about to post this very thing. It was such a fingers up to the money grabbing nature of football. This will always be Randys finest moment IMO! Totally this.
  8. Not sure why anyone would think Joe Cole has a particularly big ego. He seems like a really nice, genuine guy to me. He moved to France to play for Lille, who aren't bad but not exactly a household name, and he's taking a pay cut to play for a team that nearly got relegated last season. Maybe it's because he's a Londoner. Yep, supposed to be a nice amiable chap from what I hear. Would love to have signed him ten years ago or so. So much talent, I'd love this to work out but I can't really see him turning it around now. Hopefully I'm wrong...
  9. I find it increasingly hard to believe that it's just behind the scenes that football is a mess of corruption, and that this way of doing things doesn't spill over to the match officials - and probably players and managers too - on a regular basis.
  10. Bribery and corruption in football? That's unpossible!
  11. He didn't do too bad at Sunderland really. Manager of the year when he took them up, kept them up the following season. Left after a poor start the next year.

  13. Apart from the intense heat, lack of basic rights for women and gays, the ban on alcohol and the numerous deaths in the stadia construction, is it only the alleged bribery that makes Qatar a poor choice?
  14. Jamming along with recorded music - or even better, actual musicians - is a fantastic way of learning, especially if you have a good ear. Didn't mean that smiley to come across as 'no way, that's impossible'. I'm just shocked that this guy plays so well from just 'jamming'. My ear isn't that great. I can listen to a song, try and match it then re-watch a cover on YouTube and notice I've missed out so many little things such as hi-hat splashes etc. Ear will get better the more you play. I've played with tons of musicians over the years, and all the best ones have been self-taught. The most infuriating to play with have all been classically trained.

  16. Can't find the article now, but sure I read the other day that Sherwood had the highest win percentage of any Spurs manager in the Premier League era?
  17. I suspect Brazil or Argentina, but never have I cared less about a world cup.
  18. I'd rather we planned for 2014-15 tbh!
