  1. I'd say nearly every football fan is the same. It's just the degree we do it and whether we're willing to go out on a limb saying it publicly when we've been burnt in the past. I like the fact you post your unfiltered, optimistic opinion on every player without worrying about being wrong in the past. Living in London I don't get a chance to see any of them play so I enjoy reading the opinions. It's not really surprising as I think most tend to err on the side of hope until we've been disappointed.
  2. You're not accounting for British exceptionalism.
  3. I've heard this too. It would be great if they both become 1st team players. We were discussing in the SHA thread how it seems to be quite a common claim for younger siblings as apparently it is claimed Bellingham's brother. The Gardner's, the Longstaff's etc. Most of the time I think it's when the older sibling has played 1st team football, which doesn't surprise me as I overrate pretty much every youngster to some degree until I've seen them have a run in the team! That article annoyed me. More fool me for clicking on their crap. The training video was only 3 minutes long and they based a whole article on about 5 seconds worth when he scored 2 goals in a training game.
  4. The guy doesn't seem to be hugely wealthy by PL owner standards, so 2 options I guess: He's desperate to secure the asset ASAP as he knows there will be much stringer bidders. It's all bollocks leaked to drum up more interest in case the Saudi bid fails.
  5. Apparently it's £50m higher too. If Ashley has any mechanism to stop the deal going forwards and has a chance to make more money he will take it.
  6. To be run on Fox News. It's going to be interesting when the election gets closer to see who breaks ranks. Presumably incumbent Republicans have to be a bit careful now as there seem to be primary challenges from someone who's louder, more populist and says they love Trump more for pretty much all of them. Once that internal fight in the party is done it might be time for some of them to grow a spine as some will need votes from people who haven't enjoyed the shitshow over the last few years to keep their seats. I think Biden winning the primary would have eased concerns of corporate interests so they wont all be throwing money behind Trump again. I imagine the trend has also continued that more Democrats in the vein of AOC will become candidates. It might leave Biden in an interesting position of having to placate a lot of his party all coming off a backdrop of BLM, everything this summer and his own involvement in past legislation. Either that or everything he does is seen as genius because of the relative insanity of the current term.
  7. I'm not quite like Dem, I just prefer grilled sandwiches. I also think I've only had one picnic in the last 10 years.
  8. I'm surprised that's shocked people. Warm sandwiches are way better. I was trying to work out the other day if we have enough space in the kitchen to fit a panini grill. The only reason I don't have every sandwich hot is lack of necessary equipment or laziness. The exception is stuff like egg mayo, but that's a disgrace anyway.
  9. Open it and find out. I recommend a sick bucket on standby.
  10. You know when you get back from holiday and as soon as the plane lands you start getting impatient. It gets worse as you queue for customs. Then you have to wait for your luggage. You get a reprieve when you get out of the airport, you're even able to briefly wander off a predetermined path to grab a sandwich or have a cigarette. Then you have to face lugging all your shit home; for me it's normally the joy of another 90 minutes over 2 or 3 trains/tubes. As I get closer and closer to home I start to get increasingly agitated and everything seems to take forever. I'll try to read something to distract myself but can only concentrate for 1 minute. My foot starts tapping. All I can think about is getting home, dropping my shit and passing out on a comfy bed. Up until this afternoon it's been on my mind, but there has been other stuff to distract me. Now it's looming large and I cannot wait for football to be back. The last few hours have gone incredibly slowly. I'm seriously considering getting myself really pissed as otherwise I've got a feeling I'll be up all night like a kid at Christmas. Christ, I'm going be gutted when we lose 3-0.
  11. Not to be a bitch, but I was 11 at the time so had to Google that one.
  12. Yup. Another reason it annoys me. Now everyone debates flags and a relatively minor cost for the next week. Probably only costs about the same as one school sized missile.
  13. I just read the article and it seems it wont have a massive union jack splashed all over it. I have no issue with the government having a jet. I don't have an issue with it being painted, but I also think a repurposed military jet is completely appropriate. Maybe it's only me that has a massive problem with 'flag culture' becoming a bigger part of our society. I just thought it was a laughably ridiculous image of a man who alienated half of the world through comments on race, sexuality and religion flying around inside a massive flag that is a historical symbol of oppression to the countries he'll be flying to trying to secure trade deals. It's hardly surprising from the man.
  14. Picture post signing an executive order for some police reforms. Good thing proper policing wont make much difference to his goals if he has the national guard and army on standby. I'm starting to understand why he has so little self awareness if he gets a standing ovation every time he manages to write his name.
  15. I'm with you. It seems to be said about pretty much every footballer that has a younger sibling.
  16. Hourihane has played 18 PL games this season. Tuanzebe 5. I think the point in their careers is relevant too as Tuanzebe needs to be playing all the time to develop.
  17. Well, the law (via Wikipedia) says: I'm not making a judgement on the relevance of the case myself, it's what a lot of lawyers and activists seem to have been quoting on Twitter. I watched the first video, but haven't sat through the bodycam footage. Did he discharge the taser and miss as he was running as some people have said? If he did he was back to being an unarmed drunk guy running, with the most likely threat of danger being running under a bus. Bear in mind the guy was asleep in his car. If they hadn't already identified him it wouldn't be hard to do so. Let the guy run and go and beat him home. If it's instinct to shoot a fleeing suspect as they were a bit shaken then it just further highlights issues with police training and the mentality of many individuals who do the job even if they were 'good guys'. Not the first video I've seen of American police casually radioing in next to a suspect choking on their own blood.
  18. The Rock's schedule is a bit full so they might need to black up Vin Diesel.
  19. @Follyfoot It looks like the stuff you were told Yesterday was made up by someone. I saw two videos that purported to show the incident, but clearly weren't. This is why I take very few people at their word with stuff like this even if it is a close friend!
  20. It took someone about 5 minutes to find a story about him getting drunk, breaking into his ex's house and threatening to burn it down and take the kids hostage.
  21. The guy that has pissed himself was in a video kicking a female* police officer in the back and knocking her to the floor. Way to identify yourself in the most embarrassing way possible! I know the point of the batons the riot squad have isn't to crack skulls but I'm not sure I'd feel safe defending myself with a cumbersome shield and one of those. *significant as it's not the only video of the big strong patriots specifically targeting female officers.
  22. I'd be careful posting something like that until there is confirmation and some details.
