Think they've got a chance of staying up if they keep Cooper, still early days and time for players to settle. If their owner gets nervous and sacks him, I think they'll almost certainly go down

The RJW63 Official Jack Grealish Appreciation Thread

I agree that we wouldn't match his wages now, but could see a scenario where some trickery goes on with part of the transfer fee going to him, and us paying him ~200k p/w Certainly think we'd be in the conversation if he does leave City sooner rather than later. Have a feeling (based on nothing but a hunch) that he may have struggled being away from Birmingham. Newcastle definitely the more likely destination though -

If reports at the time were to be believed, we were happy to match the wages Citeh were offering. Don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility that he ends up back here in a year or two tbh. Think that article is a load of bollocks though, mind -
There was another good ball played through to him as well which just bounced off him. Tbh I don't know what we're trying to do tactics-wise, but my general point was that he was well-suited to the fast counter attacking football we played under Smith. Whatever were doing at the moment is really not helping him
-
Thought he grafted well last night and put a shift in, but his first touch is just way off where it needs to be for a top PL striker. Much more suited to a counterattacking system really, trying to play a more possession based game really highlights his limitations. Shame, as I like him really

Absolutely savaged in the BBC match report, they've clearly decided Bellingham is the better Brummie baller -
Remember watching this game with my old man on boxing day and we couldn't believe what we were seeing. We were outstanding, really thought we'd begun establishing ourselves as a mid-upper PL team again

As someone who recently turned 30 years old, this was probably the most enjoyable period I've had supporting the Villa. Coupled with keeping us up the next season, getting us to a cup final (where we gave a good account of ourselves) and the scintillating football we played the first half of the Covid season, I'll always have a soft spot for him. I'm convinced there's an alternative universe where we don't have the Covid outbreak before Christmas and Grealish doesn't get injured, with us making a serious charge on the top 6. We looked real contenders until then. Glad to see Smith doing well at Norwich

I've been going probably the hardest time of my life the past few months, and have slipped into some very unhealthy behaviours at times. I recognise myself in a lot that you have said here. You are so brave for sharing this, and to read your story and hear about the strength you have found to build yourself back up has really helped me and meant a lot. Wishing you and your family all the very best.

Not a single post on his thread on Blue Moon since yesterday evening, obviously made an impression tonight -
Would only really count if we'd manage to get any value whatsoever from the £100m, better for all parties except his bank account if he'd just stayed here

That first half they competed with Real better than we did against City at the weekend IMO, and everyone's been raving about that performance. Take your point though
-
They're unlucky not to be 2-0 up at half time tbh
-
Celtic have been by far the better team there. Fantastic effort and played some good football as well

I'd happily introduce her to my right honourable member if that's the case Something something prunes -
24 years old and Wikipedia reckons he's played a grand total of 59 professional games, nearly half of which were for us. Probably made a shit load of money though, nice work if you can get it
-
St Johnstone won more domestic trophies than Rangers did during Gerrard's time in Scotland. Literally the only thing of note he did up there was get them exceeding expectations in Europe, but their new manager has done much better on that front
-
One of the most important goals in our history. Will always remember him fondly - should have played more last season for me, never deserved the stick he got on here

Martinez is bang out of form and confidence

I agree - I would argue our team is much less balanced than it was a year ago, when things were fairly harmonious and we'd had several transfer windows of buying players for a specific plan/system. Under those circumstances I think Potter could've come in and built a really good squad ready for this season. I'm not convinced he's right for the job now, and think he'd be mad to come here tbh. My preference would still be Rodgers, I think he'd be able to get us playing effective football much quicker and would make a good go of the January window to fix issues in the squad
-
Potter would have been ideal when we sacked Smith. I'm not sure he's the best option now after the effect Gerrard has had on the squad, and I highly doubt he'd come here mid-season with Brighton looking a much better team than us this year due to his hard work starting to pay dividends
-
Think he'd be very useful in Liverpool's system tbh. It's like Gerrard is deliberately sabotaging us for the next manager at this stage, utterly bizarre if we allow him and Sanson to leave
-
Was going to say, a far cry from when Smith would get a convincing win at this stage with the likes of Davis and El Ghazi in attack, Hause in defence and a few of the youngsters in midfield
