  1. Have now had two emails off the club in the space of a week offering me 30% off a renewed Claret membership (let mine expire due to being priced out of regular attendance by the increase in ticket prices). Could just be a cynical attempt by the club to rake in more passive income, but interesting that people are starting to notice empty seats and the club has sanctioned a new supporters group within the stadium. Can't help but wonder if they're realising they've overplayed their hand slightly with the combination of price increases, TV and LG and want to get disgruntled core supporters back on side
  2. I'd agree it's quite a loosely organised grouping, but still pretty coherent. Comparing to anarcho-syndacalism is way OTT IMO. I'm ambivalent on BLM fwiw, the initial 'movement' generated real momentum, since then I'd say it's done some good work and some not-so-good things, but claims that there is no BLM organisation and its just a slogan feed into some of the nuttier gammon conspiracies about the movement IMO
  3. Presumably responding to the claim in the original post that black lives matter isn't an organisation but merely a slogan. Evidently, it's both
  4. Should note that I'm on the waiting list for a season ticket, but would have to think seriously about whether I could afford it if I was offered one now though with the price inflation since I initially put my name down a few years ago. I'd be pretty likely to turn it down if offered one this summer (which is doubtful anyway)
  5. It's both, really. As per blacklivesmatter.com: That said, Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, Inc. doesn't exactly scream Marxist-Leninism at you
  6. The price increases have killed it for me the last two years. I had a membership and would do probably 10 home games throughout the season, price of the ticket is ridiculous really, before I've had a pie and a crap pint. Gave up the membership and only go down if someone has a spare now. I'm sure there are a lot more like me who used to go regularly but can't really justify the cost any more
  7. Sick of puns derailing threads on here, I'm signing off
  8. The overwhelming majority of female prisoners are previous victims of various forms of physical, emotional and sexual abuse at the hands of exploitative men. If we hope to reintegrate them into society the bare minimum is really to avoid revictimising them whilst incarcerated. Settings like prisons and rape centres that house some of the most vulnerable and socially excluded woman are where the rights conflict comes in. As others has said, the bathroom.issue is largely a loud side drama
  9. Played football with his son when I was younger, and him and my old man got quite friendly (which the old man loved, as you can imagine!) Terrible news - too young to have seen him play for us, but by all accounts a fantastic player and a lovely man
  10. His brother is a Villa fan, so I can't imagine his family's reaction would've been a sticking point
  11. Actually feel pretty sorry for him, must be gutted that his body gave up on him before he even turned 30. Seems a decent lad and if we're being honest it took humility for him to move here in the first place, as he still had a profile at that point. Not his fault we signed him, but what the **** were we thinking. His medical must've been a giant red flag
  12. Always remember him on the pitch with Grealish after the play off final and some pundit made them both wave to Prince William 'our future king'. McGinn definitely didn't look fully comfortable with it
  13. Looks painfully 2020s, like the outside of a massive street food market. Dreadful
  14. Unless we move to somewhere further north of Aston in Sutton Coldfield or Erdington (which we won't be) the exact same will be true of any new stadium. Really don't get the fuss with that Lucas Oil stadium, ugly as hell IMO, would no sooner trade Villa Park for that than one of the identikit bowls Edit: and anyone who thinks BCC or WMP would allow us to move closer to the city centre is living in a fantasy world, chances are we'd be out by the NEC somewhere, which would be pretty soulless. It's redundant anyway, we aren't moving anywhere
  15. Alternatively, they have a longer time period and a more extensive breach that they need to build a water-tight case against. I'm not optimistic that there will ever be justice for City's cheating either, but there are obvious differences when comparing their case with the likes of Everton or Forest (edit: or Leicester for that matter!)
  16. Our modern day hooligan faction is definitely small in comparison to the likes of SHA, but very much on the far right, and this is coming from personal experience. Not speaking to anything historic as its far before my time, but I had heard that about C Crew and can well believe it Edit: IMO no club has a 'firm' anymore, which is why I tend to say hooligan faction
  17. Our hooligan element is proportionately much smaller, but very much of the EDL variety
  18. Brigada made a lot of enemies within our (unfortunately still substantial) neanderthal element with their anti-fascist stance and were effectively banned from attending Villa Park while Lerner was still in charge. A few of the lads still go to the games, just not as an organised group. Always found B6 Project pretty cringy tbh, crowdfunding to get banners printed, it's always felt a bit plastic to me. Not sure why they've given up, but they only ever got a lukewarm reception from the fans in general IMO
