  1. People can't even get his age right. Is he 30 or 40???
  2. Agreed, but Woodley "technically" won a no.1 contenders fight with Hendricks due to Hendricks not making weight / eating too many burgers between camps. Its hard to deny him his opportunity. That said, undoubtedly Lawler, Maia, Rory and Wonderboy will wipe the floor with him.
  3. The winner of that should get the title shot for sure then. Poor Maia will have to wait his turn. That said if he keeps himself in shape, surely one of Lawler, Woodley, Rory or Wonderboy will probably get injured. EDIT: Wonderboy v Rory is going to be immense,
  4. He will use Rooney as an extra midfielder, so theres actually no point in picking both of hospital veterans. I'd literally cry myself to sleep every night is I was Mark Noble, knowing that Wilshere is picked ahead of him after the season he has had!
  5. Am I correct in thinking Lawler still doesn't have a fight scheduled? I presume they are holding out for a GSP return (v lawler)?? If so I believe theres a queue of Woodley, Wonderboy Thompson and now Maia. The obvious conclusion is to give the shot to wonderboy and let Woodley and Maia fight it out for the next shot.
  6. I'm absolutely convinced that if he stays (and plays) he can do what Tarrabt did for QPR a few years back in the championship. He runs round PL full backs for fun. If he does that, then he is worth every penny of the 60k per week. I can't imagine anyone wanting to pay him 60k per week, so he should stay
  7. The question will be is how much will we get for him. 1) No one (apart from us) is stupid enough to pay 9million for him 2) He will probably (like many others) have a relegation release amount set in his contract. I'd be happy to get 6.5 million
  8. I can't understand the negativity. Perhaps i'm being naive? Hollis' actions have already spoken louder than his words with Garde, Fox and Almstadt gone. He's also hired "football people" onto the board. I for one appreciated the open letter and I'm willing to give him the chance to further improve matters.
  9. Indeed. For me, he deserves to leave the club with his head held high, and deserves to play for a decent PL team. Unlike some people who allegedly "love the club" he has given everything for the cause.
  10. Id expect all of their agents would have insisted on such a clause. The reality is their asset (the players) earning potential, and value diminishes in the championship.
  11. IF he stays I can see him tearing up the championship. A bit like Tarrabt did a few years ago for QPR.
  12. You are completely correct. Lyon are making noises about wanting him back, and I wouldn't blame him for leaving. But should he stay, and see this as an opportunity to build this great club (particularly when/if fox leaves), I feel he deserves that opportunity. I might be talking rubbish, but I think i read somewhere he was consulted when Almstadt was sacked.. why would they do that if he was planning to jump ship in the summer?
  13. As there was/is no "football people" on the board or in the transfer committee, hence no "gut instinct" about players its hardly surprising they decided to sign players based off stats.
  14. I may be in the minority, but I feel its a little unfair to judge RG when he has had both hands tied behind his back. This is not his squad or setup. Personally I will judge him around next christmas if he has had the chance to build a squad in his image!
  15. My sole judgment on Hollis' tenure will be based on whether Fox has a job come the summer. Im hoping the only reason he is STILL here is because he has a relegation clause in his contract whereby he doesn't get paid off, or leaves at a reduced amount.
  16. Thanks KHV, So if this man was a glorified club PA, why is it widely mentioned he had a part to play in our failed transfers?? Surely he is NOT qualified in any way and it is not part of his job remit?
  17. Out of interest what is the difference between a sporting director and a director of football?
  18. In all fairness to Newcastle. I remember the game at VP when they were relegated. We gave them such grief i'd only expect the same in return.
  19. This is not a presidential election. It's essentially one huge I.Q. test for the whole of America.
  20. The fact that RG is not preparing for next season by starting the youngsters says to me he is off in the summer. Richards, Okore, Gil, Ayew, Sinclair and Lescott will be off in the summer, so what is the point in playing them now. We gain nothing from them being on the pitch. Give these kids experience and a taste of the premier league. Let them play against the likes of Chelsea. What do we have to lose? We are going down anyway, we lose every week anyway.
  21. My friend who's a Spurs ST holder said the same. In fact the argument amongst the Spurs fans is that they should have played the full team against Dortmund and rested them against Villa.
  22. My number 1 choice is for RG to stay. Let RG build his own team and then judge him. By then who knows what managers will be available. Pearson: I don't understand the clamour for him. He struggled with a newly relegated Hull team. Moyes: He'd NEVER join Villa in this position. We are a sinking ship. Should the board recruit terribly (again) or worse keep the current muppets we will be fighting another relegation battle next season. This will destroy his managerial stock! He'll sit there safely until a safe mid table PL team need a manager.
  23. The poor attitude and not giving a f*ck comes from the top. It filters its way down.
  24. I might be going soft in my old age. But I can't see the point in sacking RG. It's not his fault the players are sh*t. He identified ways to improve the squad and the board didn't back him. Personally, I'll judge him only after he has ripped this squad apart and rebuilt it in his image.
