Jedinak is 65 years old, and travels the world to play for Australia. At some point will get injured, leaving us with only Westwood and Gardner (Tsibola is made of glass). Before looking at adding our 8th Striker to the squad we MUST prioritise a midfielder.

Shows glimpses of his potential, Against Newcastle in the second half he ran the midfield. Fitness is clearly the issue. He's one of those players at a fork in the road. He could turn out to be a bargain and a top class midfielder if he stays clear. Or, he could turn out to be another waste of money. Time will tell.

I feel he is an unnecessary risk at this moment. We have removed a few of the "bad apples", why add another?

I'd be interested to see Conor v Cowboy at 155, only because he struggled with Diaz's range. A couple more wins and I think he needs to be in the g.o.a.t discussions if he isn't already. The reality is he's destroyed the 145 and 155 pound champions... comeon! If he beats Nurmagomedov and another person with range (Diaz again or Cowboy) then, for me he can't be far off..

Second place is still definitely achievable. We should be aiming for nothing less than automatic promotion. Newcastle *should* walk away with the league. Brighton, Huddersfield, Norwich etc will drop points. If we are consistent, and around the playoffs come the end of the year then there is absolutely no reason why not.

If we are serious about making Villa a force again, we really need world class corporate hospitality (think wealthy Chinese businessman coming over for a match and seeing the current North Stand). Couple that with filling in the gaps to appease the normal fans and we are onto a winner.

Fair point, That said surely there's players like Hepburn-Murphy chomping at the bit to get gametime. Would be a massive dent to his confidence.

Can't believe people are suggesting strikers. It's the squad equivalent of having a boob job when you need heart surgery.

Huddleston is a good player, but what we actually need is legs in our central midfield. Someone in the mould of Gueye who will break up play and harass opposition midfielders.

Nothing really informative from a Villa perspective on Talk Sport. Just the usual (we were in a losing mentality, huge club, good proven championship players).The rest was talks about Bruce's weight loss and Wayne Rooney.

For me, yesterday was a very clever strategy from Bruce. We can't play for 90 mins and our central midfield 2 (whichever combination) are too weak to cover our 4 usual attacking players. Defend as a team, and one of our many accomplished attackers will score a goal or do something special. It worked under MoN very successfully.

Thats why im a little annoyed we didnt tie up Bruce sooner, he could have had at least a week of the international window to get stuck in

Uninspiring appointment. However it's more of a realistic reflection of our current status as Championship strugglers than a damning reflection on our Chairman / recruiting process, He is literally the best we can hope for in our current situation.

Regular 30k attendances, with pretty much all our away games selling out (including 5.5k away at Preston) is almost unbelievable considering our situation. When / if the team gels and starts winning games I can see that increasing to 36k+. Yes the atmosphere is dull, but what do you expect? We have only won a handful of home games in the past 2 seasons. At the moment when we take a lead / play well in the first half we all know and can see what it going to happen. If the team gels and if we start winning games and have "hope" everything will change.

More concerning is the psychological effect from last season, affecting even the new players. As soon as we went 2:1 up (baring in mind we dominated forest up to this point), we immediately retreated to the 18 yard line. Chester and Elphick both resorted to hoofing the ball straight to their CB's allowing the inevitable (with Villa) to happen.

Agreed. Even under MoN when challenging for the CL places we struggled to consistently sell out (39-40k attendances). In order to get attendances to the 60-80k mark we will literally have to be winning titles with the "glory hunter" fans adding to our usual hardcore 35k.

You are both right, Bennet was free to move, wanted to move but refused to take a pay cut, insisting that we subsidised his wages. He could have easily took a pay cut and gone to Wednesday without Dr Tony stepping in. When he refused, Dr Tony, correctly protected the best interests of the club and called off the transfer.

Like it nor not he is a Villa player for the next 5 months at least. If fit, he is / will be a potential asset to this team in the Championship. For the next few months at least, im willing to support him.

The question is not the value of the player himself, it's the value of the player's potential impact to the club. If Kodija scores 20 goals and we get promoted, he is worth twice that value. The economics are simple, we have to get promoted this season. Next season there will be 3 other teams relegated with deep pockets.

Rumble is an absolute KILLER! Whether he goes in with Jon Jones or DC he always has a chance with that knockout power. DC will attempt (again) to wrestle him for 5 round until he tires, Jon Jones would be interesting. Rumble (stylistically) has a better chance of beating Jones that DC imo.

I love Tony more and more each day!! I love how brutal and straight-forward he is. Why should we pay Sheff Weds, a rival money to tale our player? We could easily sell him and save 10-20k a week.
