  1. This. Will damage those kids. We lost 6/7 to someone in the check a trade a year ago or so. Liverpool B could put double digits past them. Not worth it. Forfeit, rest. Don't risk anymore. We are already 2 games behind.
  2. Although it's understandable in the current climate, it's very frustrating we can't get our work done early. Using Douglas Luiz as an example is seems pretty critical thst a player gets a pre season or time to train for 3-4 weeks solid with the team.
  3. No he went to Southampton. For a modest 13 million.
  4. Favourites to sign Watkins and Benrahma via odds checker. Aston Villa are favourites to sign two of Brentford's star players, Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahma.   Former Bees boss Dean Smith on the hunt for attacking talent. #AVFC
  5. I call it the Scott Sinclair test. He was a bad player, sitting on the bench in our worst team ever. Went to Celtic and looked a world beater for a couple of seasons. 40 million for any player from the Scottish league is a huge huge huge risk. That said 25-30 million for a Watkins whose only played in the championship is as well!
  6. Birmingham mail reporting we are are in for Edouard from Celtic. 40 million. Birmingham Mail
  7. He takes a good set piece. With Jack earning so many fouls being able to capitalise on them will make a big difference.
  8. Agreed. Benhrama is a good player but he has absolutely no intention of tracking back. Can't be carrying a player in the Premier league.
  9. Left a Chinese guy in charge with no real experience or UK contacts. We all know how this ends.
  10. Pretty much every signing last summer (except the expected mings and el ghazi) came out of the blue. No clues, press briefings or rumours before.
  11. He is quick, technically good and puts the ball in the back of the net. He's also proved. When 40 million gets you joelinton and half of Harry maguire he's a steal.
  12. Werner had a release clause. Bayern came sniffing, essentially he signed a bumper new contract with a low release clause as long he he didn't go to Bayern. He's an elite striker, Chelsea worked wonders imo.
  13. West broms transfer budget is around 14 pence. They'll struggle.
  14. Their fans were on the radio last year crying about the club demanding season ticket money as early as March / April. They also pre loaned their future parachute payments. They literally had to go up this year. This season in the PL will be a case of catching up financially for them. They have a decent manager so they have a chance of staying up. If they go down it could get interesting.
  15. Not quite ready to give up on Wesley yet, although we definitely need an additional goal scorer to compete and compliment. Preferably with Premier league experience. Someone that's strong in the air, loves scoring at Villa Park, local lad. Someone who if they signed would make Small Heath fans go beside themselves would be ideal.
  16. Purslow and co's job is to do what is best for Aston Villa, not Jack Grealish. All this sentimental "he's too good", "he deserves the CL" doesn't wash. He freely signed a contract last year on 100k + week committing himself to Aston Villa. Reciprocally the club have to pay him his wages for 4/5 years no matter what happens. As much as I hate it, Aston Villa is a business, Grealish is a well compensated asset under contract. In order to let that asset leave we need to be compensated in such a fashion that we can buy better assets with the funds generated. The question is not what is Jack Grealish worth to Man United, it's what he's worth to us. To replace him I genuinely believe is at least 60-70million. The only way he is worth less than that is if he does a Pogba (which he won't) and refuses to play, fakes injuries etc. I genuinely fully expect him to stay, unless he surprises us all by throwing his toys out the pram. The economics have changed and I don't believe any club will offer us what we would need to replace him.
  17. I haven't read through the thread. It wasn't aimed at you mate, just a general rant I needed to get off my chest. I just noticed some police posts. The police should be on the motorways, roads and housing estates, not checking if people are buying easter eggs with their weekly shopping. As @chrisp65 said, the fact I can queue arse to chest in Heathrow, then fly to New York tonight but not let my kids play out the front is something that needs to addressed. As the public become more frustrated there will be some sort of mini mutiny happening. That will only result in another spike and longer restrictions. If anyone is outside without good reason, on the spot 1k fines with a future court summons will sort it.
  18. Personally, I'd be happy for police officers to fine people £1,000 immediately, with a court summons for a future date for being outside without reason. Today we was supposed to go on holiday, I've had this holiday, my wedding, stag do, partners hen do and our honeymoon cancelled. My step daughter is upset because there's pictures of people on Brighton beach queuing for ice creams, but she's not allowed to play with her friends out the front. Go outside, extend this further, risk families, you deserve to have the book thrown at you. I'd rather this ends sooner than offend some people with an authority problem. Not aimed at anyone here, it's just my frustration at this not being enforced enough.
  19. Just noticed this on the death figures report on Sky News today. They are only just reporting some figures from March? Clearly going to massage the figures to keep them under 1k. Sky News
  20. Completely agree with this. People are ALREADY beginning to go out and about like usual. In 2 weeks it will be worse. I live next to a busy cross roads on the way into Leicester. For around 4 days everything was quiet. Now everything is going back to normal. Im personally happy for "over the top" restrictions, policing and penalties as long as it brings the date we can go back to normal closer. It really grates me that my kids are stuck in our small house, but some selfish **** think it's OK to go out and about as normal. This will only increase the time that most people will live under restrictions.
  21. Peak of cases is 7-10 days away which means peak of deaths and ICU treatment is 21-30 days away, then add to that average ICU time is 10-14 days to either recover or pass away. After that it will take months and months to go away completely, if at all. I strongly believe that there will be a form of "mental" immunity. In other words life will go back to normal for the majority not at risk and it will be socially acceptable for 3, 400 people a day to die as long as life goes back to normal.
  22. Woke up with a fever and really tight chest. Feels like someone has put a 15kg weight on there, coughing a little. Filled in the online form, NHS called me back (because of the kids have also been unwell) and told us to self isolate immediately and we most like have it. Saturday I felt absolutely fine. Sunday I felt weak. Now imagine I'd been out an about this weekend, bumping into various families at the parks. We live in a small terrace with an extremely small concrete garden, believe me we wanted to take the kids out to the local park. We were tempted to make an unnecessary trip to Costco. We never. I had absolutely no idea I was unwell until yesterday, but I could have spread it to dozens of others. This is why you stay home. Thankfully I've not met anyone in over a week.
  23. I know a few people who worked on NHS nightingale and will be doing the same for the NEC. Whilst the media were briefed to post pictures of the army and gurkhas, the majority of the work was done by labourers like electricians, flooring guys, carpenters who were recompensed for £20 per hour, no expenses or travel. (they would have done it for free anyway). The army were used as grafters, and apprentices essentially.
  24. 4/5 people reading this will have "underlying health issues". Whether it's high blood pressure, Obesity, asthma, type 2 diabetes. I'm 5'11 just under 13 stone therefore I'm clinically slightly obese. Used to play rugby so carry a bit of muscle, gym usually 3/4 times a week, football twice a week. Definitely don't consider myself fat at all. I'm a fairly normal person. Yet if I succumbed to this illness I'd definitely go into the underlying health issues category.
  25. 569 new deaths. Better than the 850 some models were predicting. Unless the gov and NHS are using some more "creative accounting" to deflate the number.
