  1. This is nothing more than groundwork for next year. City NEED a striker. They have an embarrassment of riches out wide. They won't spend 250 million in 1 window.
  2. Yes we can. Everyone at the club understands Grealish is a level above.
  3. Absolutely can't see him leaving this summer. 4 years left in his contract. This is the season his club will try to push for a European place. Any other season makes sense, this one doesn't at all.
  4. I genuinely believe this is his exact lineup. I'll probably get bettered for this but, i'm so disillusioned with Southgate, if we play that team I hope we get absolutely smashed. It sums up everything wrong with the England team and how it's constantly managed. It's really not that difficult to pick a system and put the best player in each position. Instead he will play -A favourite (trippier) out of position despite 2 CL quality Lbs. -Rashford horrendously out of form, ignoring 4 potential world beaters (Grealish, Saka, Sancho and Foden). -Kane out of form and decided he's a midfielder -Henderson absolutely not match fit.
  5. After we beat Croatia we knew we'd qualify. Other games were almost pointless. Much prefer top 2 only going through.
  6. In US NFL franchises you are guaranteed to make money ~100mill a year. The PL you are almost guaranteed to lose money. It's something the Americans can't get their heads around.
  7. No smoke without fire. Most likely we are interested and the agent is using us as a bargaining chip in contract negotiations. Leaking to the media adds pressure to Arsenal However, he still hasnt signed a new contract despite in discussions since March. If they don't pay him what he wants, then he's ours.
  8. No smoke without fire. He is in contract negotiations with Arsenal and we tend to go about our business quietly. Out of character for our "bids" to be in the papers. I'm sure there is interest, but his agent is probably leaking / stoking the fire to increase his arsenal contract. If Arsenal continue to dither, then I'm sure we could step in, but I'm really not getting my hopes up.
  9. Sorry if posted elsewhere. Gattuso could be a disaster, particularly with Levy. The reason he left Fiorentina was because Mendes effectively wants to use them as a Wolves. All signing through him, huge commissions etc. He is also Gattusos agent obviously. Good thread here
  10. We do, due to our owners mindset. Spurs are ran on a balance sheet, therefore in a covid market are highly unlikely to invest heavily. We are currently investing regardless of losses. Whether we are in the investment / loss making status and will turn into a balance sheet club (arsenal, spurs), or our wowners will treat us "for fun and the love of the game (city, Chelsea) is yet to be seen. But I do completely agree, we need to improve commercial to sustainably compete. At the moment we have greater buying power due to our owners generosity.
  11. Rumours that talks with Nuno have stalled. Tbh the longer this takes the better for us. Everton will be competing with us for "best of the rest" . Takes time for a manager to get their feet under the table, access the squad, identify and recruit.
  12. Both fan bases have failed to grasp that now, they are a "normal team" fighting it out with us, Everton, West Ham etc. Allbeit, Leicester have surpassed them and we have far greater buying power. Man City, Liverpool (until Klopp leaves), United ($) and Chelsea ($$) are absolutely miles away in the distance and it will take a fall from grace or a systematic effort over 5-10 years to consistently match them commercially and on the playing field.
  13. I think due the financial restrictions there's definitely elements of "desperation" to gain and then maintain PL status. As in the case of Xia, and others they've borrowed millions of investors money and the only way to repay that is by solidifying Premier league status over 4,5 years. They are desperate and making desperate decisions.
  14. Zaha will cost 50million + and at his age will have limited resale value. As we are behind commercially, thats not sustainable.
  15. Sporting director Luke Dowling has left the club by mutual consent. Was pretty highly regarded a few years ago.
  16. Is it head to head or goal difference for teams on the same points? We beat Scotland. Czechs beat Croatia We will have a game where both teams are deliberately trying to lose
  17. He should Start tonight. 10pm vs Chile on BBC iplayer.
  18. Hughes is a lazy link for me. He's a good player but will not improve the first team. Smith and Purslow have repeatedly said we are looking for quality over quantity. Quality is a player that goes straight into the first team. The quantity will now be provided by our youth system.
  19. I'm absolutely convinced we won't get past the last 16 anyway. Particularly with Southgate inevitably playing his favourites / playing players out of position to accommodate. So, as a Villa fan I'd much rather Jack was sat at home or on a Portuguese beach resting for next season.
  20. They've been turned down by David Wagner according to SSN. He wants to stay closer to his family Thats worse than being turned down by Remi Gaarde.
  21. Birmingham Live Was widely reported that us, Leicester, West ham were in for him the summer before, valued at 30 million. They kept him for another year. Covid hit, they needed to raise capital to sign another player (striker I think). We were the only club willing to basically give them cash up front.
  22. Dean Smith and Purslow both said we brought him in early, mainly for next season. Young man, young family, needs to time acclimatise, get used to the pace. He was a 30m player we got for cheap, I have no doubt we will see the best of him next season.
