  1. Mcginn starting to look a lot better shows the balance is just right with the improving Jacob Ramsey. Mcginn can now drive forward with growing confidence in Jacobs ability and athleticism to drop back. It's kind of slightly unleashed him. He's not having to sit deep because Barkley couldn't / didn't get back. Luiz sitting, JJ and Mcginn both causing carnage both pressing the opposing number 6's, driving forward with the ball and both fit enough to get back and sit in. Quite exciting if all 3 stay fit.
  2. Agreed. We have a full strength squad, at home, against a team we need to finish above or on par with if we want to "improve". No excuses, let's see what happens and where we are.
  3. It's Jack Grealish's family. His dad. I love Villa, I go to every single game, obsessed over the club since 3/4 years old. But I love my son more, and I would do ANYTHING to make him happy or further his career when he's older. If I was in his father shoes, and that's what my son wanted I'd back him 100%.
  4. I think Greg Evans wrote a piece in the Athletic about this. There is nothing stopping us trying to get more out of Man City, in a negotiating format should the clause be confidential. Obviously we can't decline a 100million offer, but can try to extract more. Man City bid 100million and knew they didn't need to go higher, even though the clause was meant to be confidential. Villa called bluff, apparently even tried to involve European clubs etc to entice Man City to bid more. They also knew the exact date (the following Saturday) which the deal needed to be concluded by. However upon the 100million bid, Jack Grealish and his team instructed Villa to accept the 100million offer and we had no choice but to accept.
  5. Ole has done a better job than Mourinho and Van Gaal, all whilst significantly lowering the average age of the squad. Still think they need an upgrade on McFred, but everywhere else they are stacked. On paper they are slowly building a proper strong, lasting team. Young front 3 + Ronaldo and Cavani Defence solid.
  6. Poignant part that's often missed. Purslow clearly stated the 100million was a "Confidential" release clause. That's why when Man City bid 100 million (on the dot) we tried to negotiate for more, Grealish's camp kicked off and Man City knew there was a release clause of 100m and the exact date by which it would expire. Someone tipped off Man City about the release clause. It's that simple.
  7. Nail on head. I think that's what really triggers a lot of our fans, me included. He is the same player he's been for a few years, but because he didn't play for a "Sky 6" team there was absolutely no recognition. This obviously even goes as high as Gareth Southgate. Now he's joined City, he a "guaranteed starter" for England when you listen to SkySports and TalkSport pundits. Last year (when he was the same player) he's fighting with Foden, Rashford, Sterling etc. He didn't exactly dominate in the summer, so what's changed? Oh he's joined a Sky 6 team. He was a wonderful, generational, special player before, but weirdly you need to play for a Sky 6 team to be understood as such.
  8. All of those teams will be saying we got schooled by Watford and couldn't beat Brentford
  9. I follow a few high stakes betting groups (I don't have the finances to compete). Few are considering lumping quite a sizeable amount of money on DS to be next out the door. Next 6 games are tough. Everton, Ronaldo FC, Spurs, Wolves, Arsenal, West Ham. Let's say we only pick up 3 points from those 6 games (which is entirely plausible). 10 Games in with 7 points, probably be in or near the relegation zone. As much as I hate it, I could see it happening.
  10. One was against a Chelsea player, need to protect the "superstars". 3 times Alonso literally just fell over protecting the ball and was given a free kick. Whereas Rudiger could barge into Watkins every long ball. Absolutely guarantee at some point when we play united next week Fernandes will fall over after someone steps in his shadow, free kick will be given. Mctominay or Fred will pile into Mcginn or Ramsey and the game will be "allowed to flow". Just an excuse for selective decision making which we all know will only favour the bigger revenue generating teams.
  11. Burnley for the size of club are massively over achieving and that is solely down to Dyche. They haven't even spent large amounts to solidify them as a PL team. Everton are about right (amongst best of the rest).
  12. Do away with qualifiers. 128 teams. Straight knockout. Draw within region until the final 32. Only 6 games until the final. Smaller countries will have the chance of a big tie, therefore make money. Club season can be shortened with less qualifiers giving players more rest.
  13. If you tell South american they can't play for their country 9/10 will immediately hand in a transfer request. Agree though 2 weeks of wages could go to charity etc.
  14. Their country is more important to them then our club. And rightly so. Playing against Brazil is more important than Chelsea or Everton.
  15. Absolute Rubbish. The majority of South Americans are extremely patriotic, a lot more than the majority here. Representing your country is the highest honour you can have. Emi Martinez sighted when signing for us, he wants to be Argentinas number 1. He is, he wants to stay there. The problem lies with Fifa who knew this could happen, but pretty much washed their hands of the whole thing. The players can't turn their country down. Fifa and the head coach know this.

    Arsenal

Typical Arsenal signing. Decent player but nowhere near elite. Early 20s so does have potential though. Quite tall and strong for a fullback, as he matures probably go CB full time eventually. Win win for arsenal. Replaces Bellerin (which isn't difficult after last season) if he improves to a quality player the commercial department will be lickimg their lips.

    Wolves

Due to absolutely annihilate a team at some point. Potential new manager bounce might wear off though. Very thin squad, so can understand the fans frustrations, particularly in midfield. First 11 will compete with most.
  18. Obviously there is still bitterness there etc. But I genuinely believe he is Englands best winger / attacking midfield player, by a long long way. Providing "Pep Bingo" is favourable towards him, and he concentrates more on Football than being a celebrity, I genuinely expect him to be a world class, elite player influencing CL semi finals, finals, World cups etc. Foden maybe has the potential to get there, but nowhere near realised yet.
  19. 10am: going to city 11am: OGS basically said United want him. 1pm : Journos report City pull out of the deal. 1.05pm: going to united. Man City are very good at protecting their image and definitely have quite a few journalists on the books.
  20. He wouldn't be charged unless they thought it was an absolutely "slam dunk" conviction. Due to everything involved, probable super trial, media coverage and the covid delays etc the Crown Prosecution service wouldn't have take it on unless its almost a certain conviction.
  21. Traore would cost massive money, so probably adds a bit of truth to the Kane fee story.

    Arsenal

They had a good run at the end of the season. But seems the fans are just waiting for a chance to turn. Man City next isn't it?
  23. Perfect for them. He won't relegate them. Newcastle will will sit in a state or 12-16th until Mike Ashley gets his sale for an extortionate price.
