  1. An angry guy on the For The Love of Paul Mcgrath podcast summed it up perfectly for me. Why are we, Aston Villa, with all our resources allowing a manager to "Learn on the Job". It's insane when you look at it that way. If the owners are serious, then we need a serious manager.
  2. I was quite content with the strategy being mentioned under DS. Buy young players. As soon as they get to 28/29 look to move on for a profit, or at least get back what you paid. Only exceptions are goalkeeper (33/34) and maybe CB (32). Seems since Gerrard has come in, we've ripped that plan up. Unless we quickly double our commercial revenue, that's just unsustainable against the big 6 and FFP ensuring they protect their place.
  3. No more. I'm in the office and just felt a twinge.
  4. You do realise that all politicians are hired based off a popularity contest? That's what they all think about.
  5. You'd rather have 100 trained men than 10,000 untrained. Untrained personnel are more of a risk and more danger than they are worth. In 2018, we did a corporate team building exercise where we did airsoft against 2 former SAS guys. There was 53 of us. We lost 53:0, 47:0 and 40:0 (people dropped out as the rounds went on).
  6. I play football on Monday nights with the fan waving his arms up and down (Rocket Ron). Safe to say he's getting pelters for this.
  7. Slipped into the bottom 3, with Coventry and Huddersfield below with games in hand . This is hilarious
  8. Morale is a massive part of this. Russians aren't even sure why they are in this war, therefore far more likely to desert or retreat under conflict. Ukrainians will die for their land. Add in sophisticated weaponry for UA, it will take something huge for this momentum to change
  9. If it's Rafa, then this Monday night will be the worst game of football ever played on Television. Effectively a 1 on 1 game between Mings and Cook lumping it to each other.

    Liverpool

The Anfield atmosphere is genuinely the biggest myth in football. What ground wouldn't be loud beating Barca 4:0 after being 3 down in the first leg? I genuinely believe it's on par with the Eithad for dead atmospheres on "normal games".

    Wolves

Fosun had 18% wiped off their value since September, so can't imaging there's going to be much available for any new manager to bring in. Really talented, but unbalanced squad. Be interesting to see who Mendez hires as his clubs manager.
  12. Without wishing to go all Alex Jones. We are close to $1 = £1 = 1 Euro: Ideal time to bring in a centralised (digital) IMF approved currency.
  13. He wouldn't attack a London, Paris etc as that would end Russia in a matter of weeks. He could attack Ukraine to see what response they get: which would be catastrophic but not completely debilitating. If he attacked a big NATO capital city, then Russia would be completely steam rolled by the entire NATO / EU military within a matter of weeks.
  14. US has already been clear. NSA saying there's been high level meetings which have dictated catastrophic consequences for Russia should a nuke be used. Video link to NBC I'd suggest if anyone pushed that button, they'd find a B2 over their head within 3 hours.
  15. The US couldn't be anymore clear. NSA advisor interview linked below from The Guardian. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/sep/25/us-russia-ukraine-war-nuclear-weapons-jake-sullivan
  16. The majority of people who change their votes are mainly led by news headlines and catchy manifesto promises. They don't have time to dive into the details. Therefore, elections are about who can make the most outlandish promises in their manifesto, that to the bulk of the country are at least semi-feasible . Keeping them is completely irrelevant (neither party does)
  17. All those 2020/2021 (covid time) 2 year fixed term mortgages are about to expire. House prices will not go up between now and the next election.
  18. Easiest Tee up ever. Stay in the middle, don't get involved in divisive politics. If you get dragged into immigration, Gender or other divisive discussions stay centrist (even if it annoys some of the left leaning party members). They've caught on and will literally walk the next election.
  19. As much as people roll their eyes, the real reason the Tories got in was because Corbyn was just too far left for the general electorate to digest. Correctly or not, he was successfully portrayed as Anti British, pro immigration, state sponsored everything etc. Just too much too soon for the majority of the electorate. If Starmer, or another more centrist figure was Labour leader at the time Labour would have probably won. Labour have wised up, they are making wise decisions to keep main electorate happy. An example of this was playing the national anthem at the start of the Labour party conference (Corbyn still couldn't help himself but moan about it). It does no harm, but it keeps flag waivers happy + helps to dismiss the anti British sentiment.
  20. My wife (who's Lithuanian / Russian) said she is Russia's Madonna. One of those singers who although is no longer in the limelight, you reminisce and know every one of their songs (young and old). Whacking her would be a massive PR disaster for the Kremlin.
  21. KDB is the only player that makes Man City slightly enjoyable to watch. He's the Pep Bot XL with a little bit of freedom. Txiki has built and incredible team, I wonder how they would play with a bit of freedom.
  22. The news / propaganda machine is powerful. My wife is Lithuanian, from a Russian family. She has cousins in Kiev who were from the same Russian family but now consider themselves Ukrainian. Generally speaking if you are <40 you consider yourself Lithuanian, Ukrainian, Latvian etc and are absolutely horrified by what's happening. If you are >40 you reminisce about the Soviet days, consume Russian TV etc. Her parents, who consume everything Russian are 100% behind the war, think Russia is winning (easily) and think this is all Americas fault. The whole world is popping up Ukraine, because they "know" Putin could easily take over the annex the whole of Europe, including the UK if he decided to. Thankfully he has just decided he needs to liberate the former soviet states before America + Nato take them.
  23. If you are honest you pay 20% tax. Many probably pay around a quarter of that.
