    Running

I'm no longer event director at Bromsgrove juniors but I still help out. We started back up a few weeks ago and it was great seeing all the kids and adults having a good experience again. 5k parkrun just over a week away and I think that will really help lots of people out of this pit of despair lockdown has created.
  2. My 2nd was 8.55 this morning and I expected some symptoms by now. Arm isn't even especially sore. Perhaps I'll escape it or perhaps it'll kick in tomorrow.
  3. It was incredible how Derren Brown managed to predict the winner in every single race https://derrenbrown.co.uk/shows/the-system/
  4. Is it about having a breakfast coffee then an hour long meeting?
  5. Kali! Forgot about that. Comes from Kali sherbert. If yowm kalied yowm bladdered
  6. Growing up in Blackheath everyone spake like this
  7. That's interesting because I always wondered why they replaced Ringo with someone who sounds nothing like him. They sound night and day to me.
  8. This is a symptom of really poor scientific messaging from the government. People will still get it but most will either never know or won't have anything beyond mild symptoms. The gov should have been giving out clear, scientific advice about what the vaccine does, how it works and some common myths. At least to stop all this 'what aren't they telling us' stuff.
  9. Yep, a very similar film, Edge of Tomorrow, is utterly superb.
  10. There seems to be a new generation of younger people who think they're no-nonsense, anti-woke, 'you can't say that any more', dismissive of popular opinion even when presented with plenty of evidence, preferring to go down conspiracy holes because they have a superior value of their own intellect despite being utterly stupid. They seem to be the same closed minded type of people who in older generations are Tory voters, nationalistic and a bit casually racist but being younger have been shaped around alternative thought and conspiricism by social media.
  11. Few points from reading the last few pages: 1. You can't go on individual daily figures. They're 'catchup' figures so just extras to add on to the scattering of previous days therefore will always be low on Mondays, after bank holidays, reporting lulls, etc. You have to look at the historic stats by date of case/death https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/cases click on data. You'll see the cases aren't going up very fast and the rate of increase looks to be slowing, assumedly as the virus finds fewer transmissible hosts. Deaths are just a flat line, they aren't increasing. With the greatest of respect to those who have died of COVID, the numbers of deaths right now (and for the foreseeable due to the vaccine effect) is negligible. Those people will either be unvaccinated slipped through the net very old and frail or end of life patients who contract it and die 'with it' rather than 'of it'. 2. Bromsgrove is dead compared to before the pandemic. I expected people to flock back out and it's just not happening. People aren't going out any more. They might once all restrictions with masks and table service etc have been lifted. 3. Just had jab 2 of AZ. Arm starting to ache slightly. This time I won't go out drinking tonight so any side effects will be from the vaccine rather than a hangover.
  12. No? I thought villalad was from the USA?
  13. All you 2 do is moan about others not being enough of an England fan. Please change the record.
  14. Incredible achievement by Cav to equal Merckx's record and he could well move clear as long as he can make mountain time cuts. Getting 35 wins on the Champs Elysées would be perfect. The greatest sprinter ever in the sport.
  15. Who can still attempt to claim that the BBC isn't the propaganda arm of the Tory party? https://www.ft.com/content/82a54037-501d-457b-b8f4-35744c85ec9b
  16. Didn't happen. Please show anyone saying this without qualification.
  17. I thought that Southgate was hoping to win games without him and he's grudgingly having to bring him on to get him out of the shit. But there's just as much merit to the thinking that he's allowing him the chance to be the hero. He was against Germany a bit (assists not goals) but each time, Southgate is bringing him on to give him the chance to score and win it for England.
  18. I thought that. But then Phillips, Saka and Sterling did exactly the same while Jack relieved pressure winning a couple of free kicks pulling the team up the pitch, then held on to the ball longer going towards their goal creating spaces for attacks.
  19. Anyway, my ratings from last night. Pickford: 5. A liability. Surely we have better goalkeepers? Walker: 7. Great pace and didn't do a lot wrong Stones: 6. Didn't have a lot to do Maguire: 6. See above Shaw: 7. Nowhere near as good without Grealish to link with Phillips: 6. Got caught in possession a lot. Isn't great against a high press team Rice: 5. Passed forward once all game Mount: 6. Anonymous Saka: 7. Adventurous Kane: 7. Better Sterling: 8. Terrified them Grealish: 7. Couldn't get into it. No surprise being brought on at 70 minutes every time. At least made England more positive going forward Foden: 6. Touched the ball a couple of times Trippier: ? Absolutely no idea
  20. Because they're Danish and just lost to a dodgy penalty?
  21. It certainly looked that way at first last night until seeing the context. And there definitely was an agenda against him before the tournament with the odd inconsistency in justification by Southgate for not picking him. But in this tournament, you can't argue that Southgate has brought him on every time he's needed him. Personally, I think it's a travesty he's not starting every game but that's a tactical disagreement.
