  2. I've got so many I wouldn't know which one it is
  3. This was my team. Apparently it's simultaneously brilliant and awful, such is Twitter.
  4. Yes but some parts around the ground are really, really run down. I always hoped a rich owner would buy the derelict industrial areas around and build a museum, resort, performance centre etc.
  5. Does anyone else find the One Britain, One Nation stuff terrifying? I assumed it was some far right nutjob organisation trying to press their latest path to authoritarianism but it's actually coming through officially from the DfE. Getting kids at school to sing "Strong Britain, Great Nation" is a bit.. err.. creepy
  6. Unfortunately the worst throbber of the lot, Johnson, still can and will.
  7. I have a feeling that the England v Germany game is going to be pretty similar to the 5-1 annihilation
  8. Which makes Southgate's ruining of the current golden generation with negative tactics all the more galling.
  9. I think the Lakes is a popular Asian holiday destination now. As you say, a good thing that asian families are happy holidaying in traditionally white destinations.
  10. Don't think so. There wasn't much interest in it because it was such a certain Tory hold. This was the survation poll for Hartlepool. Similar sample sizes and they were close but overestimated Labour's vote a bit. It'll be interesting to see if they're any closer this time.
  11. Have you got a source for that? I've seen a few articles on psephology saying the opposite - you only need a few hundred to be very accurate. Anyway, Starmer probably won't be leader in 2 weeks. This is horrific.
  12. It was a 510 participant survation telephone poll. They're not going to make up the numbers. They did a similar one just before Hartlepool which was bang on.
  13. Expecting Jack to be able to come in 60 mins in and make an impact after not starting a game yet is really setting him up to fail. Start him and we win that game.
  14. Croatia were shocking v England. On form, the Czechs win this solidly.
  15. I was only referring to England manager really
  16. Yeah as Bicks says, there's still 2 left candidates against Coyne and Graham is digging her heels in. I guess it's hoped she'll also see sense or she's marginalised. It's a start, at least.
  17. Mainly, it's a cushy job. You get the best facilities, you get to go watch loads of different games, you get lots of time off, you get to work with the best players and take part in enjoyable tournaments every 2 years. You're seen as the best manager in the country and you've got the potential to bring the world cup home for England that so many others have failed at. Who'd pass all that up?
  18. Some of it yeah, but only in an individual capacity. There was no tactical voting campaign, no organised groups or anything. If people voted tactically, they made that choice themselves - all 11,000 previously Labour voters switched to the Lib Dems, Greens (and even Tories) to get the Tories out. No-one knows how much of it was due to: * The local housing planning dispute * HS2 * Anger at Tories * Labour voters having no real enthusiasm for a damp squib party Turnout was low so I'd say it's most likely to be a perfect storm of all of the above.
  19. Came to this thread because I've been thinking this for a while that Dean's record is very impressive. Similar to Graham Taylor's really. Did well at Watford / Brentford then moved to Villa where they turned the club around. The way Dean Smith has brought through almost a full England XI at Villa won't be missed either. If the FA were suddenly without Southgate, you'd imagine Dean would be near the top of their list. It would certainly be a warning, especially with all of the other parallels. But I think there's always temptation to look at similar situations and rationalise your own different choices into different conclusions.
  20. In a rare display of rejecting People's Front of Judea politics, the left has decided to team up to take on the 'right' in the Unite leadership election
