The RJW63 Official Jack Grealish Appreciation Thread
darrenm replied to kevangrealish's topic in Other Football
re the interview, the question was that Dean Smith had said Jack has an encyclopaedic knowledge of football. Jack didn't know what that phrase meant. I have no doubt he knows what an encyclopaedia is, he just hadn't heard of it in that context before. Playing tonight, if he starts it's at the expense of Foden who wasn't great last match despite hitting the post early on. Otherwise he probably comes on at 60 mins and then starts the next game. -

Yep and it's likely Tyrone starts. And when Southgate is sacked, England will probably come calling for Dean -

I really hope Jack starts so we get to see the two 7s battling it out. It'll be absolutely fascinating and it'll give the coverage a big narrative 'battle of the Aston Villa attacking midfield' -
Yeah those were the local issues I was alluding to. I'm not aware of the extent but apparently a lot is about local planning nimbyism and anti-HS2 sentiment.

I keep seeing the reason given as tactical voting. Wrong thread for Labour but where's the evidence for that? Why isn't it simply that Labour have been squeezed out in a Tory/Lib Dem seat? You don't have 10,500 people out of 11,000 who voted Labour in 2017 deciding to tactically vote.
-
Nope, they ditched that policy and accepted we've left

Astounding figures. Apparently some local issues. Nationally, Labour should be seriously worried because the Tories have got plenty to fall back on.

I'm not sure what's happening with the virus at the moment. If you look at things like this it's all doom and gloom. Apparently we're definitely in a 3rd wave: And you look at the new cases, it looks similar to the beginning of September According to the previous trends, you will then see hospital admissions rising a week or so later, and then deaths rising 2 to 3 weeks later. Hospitals yes, a bit: Deaths, not yet at least: So the data would seem to support the expectation that we'll get the unvaccinated passing it around and getting infected, some of whom will end up in hospital and an extremely small number will die of it. Also, I wonder how many of the people being admitted to hospital now are being done so just in case where they would have been told to stay home before.

You can ask the club but I'm pretty sure they'd want it themselves to buy other players and stuff -
Apples and Oranges I think The >95% I was referring to was deaths. And even hospital admissions are in the 90s. The 60% figure is just for infection (I assume to mean any kind of symptoms whatsoever). (same article as above):

Yep. AZ is an attenuated chimp derived Adenovirus vector delivered vaccine. It's the older more established way of delivering spike proteins via a limping half dead virus that your body doesn't have a problem dealing with. A bit like IVF or Jurassic Park using elephant eggs to grow dinosaur embryos. Your body sees the spike protein and mounts an immune response: turn up the heating to cook it, call the cavalry etc. The body creates the mRNA and antibodies from the immune response. mRNA skips the immune response and simply produces antibodies from the mRNA delivered.

I can't see anyone on this page referring to him as anything but that? -

I never really watch football outside of the premier League or even villa for that matter so I've never seen Mbappe before but whoah is he a player. It could well be England v France in the final and it could be an amazing match. -

I dunno, I saw a few things where it looked like they had no consideration for the safety of the opponent. Like a load of Ben Mees. They keep going like that and somebody is going to get hurt. -

France look like absolute thugs. They're great but they're bloody violent too. And the refs in this tournament seem very lax. I'd love to see Grealish against Griesman though - he'd be sent off after 2 tackles. -

Yeah. I'm just trying to say you can't dismiss body language. If someone's thinking Gareth isn't telling the whole truth because he's looking a bit shifty then sometimes there's something in it. Your pictures were a bit of a strawman. -

It's easy to be a glib at some of this but body language and instinct can be pretty good indicators of someone's real feelings and thoughts. Much more than what they say. And yes, Jack will have been desperate to get into the England setup so will have said lots of nice things that he doesn't necessarily 100% believe. -

FWIW I think you're all wrong. There clearly was something with Southgate where he had an irrational dislike of Grealish with the bizarre comments and reluctance to play him even though it was clear it would massively improve England. Jack kept his head down, said everything Southgate wanted to hear and the charm offensive worked. Right now, the injury is probably the biggest reason he's being held back. If he's still training separately there's good reason to agree with that strategy. It could well be that we need a fit, fresh and frustrated Jack against Portugal in the next round. There's probably also a bit of pulling rank by Southgate because he knows how much clamour there is from everyone for Jack to play. If I was England manager I'd be doing a lot different to Southgate right now. I'd have been building the team around Jack for the past 2 years and telling him to not care if he loses the ball or not, just do what he does for Villa and run at people. But it's not so we'll have to see how Southgate does with the most talented group of players in the tournament and the best England have had for at least 30 years, possibly ever. No pressure, Gareth. -
What about if you hate everything around Jeremy Clarkson with a passion? Is it still watchable?

I'm not sure where all the hype for Philips has come from. He was good but he wasn't pressured for the ball at all. It was leisurely from the Croats and they didn't press. I think once the temperatures are a bit more normal and you have a high press team he'll be a bit of a liability. -

Yes. But I think and hope that this time Southgate is finally sensible enough to use the only player we have who does something different to everyone else. At the very least, he'll have such a reputation that France or Portugal will put 2 or 3 players on him, leaving space elsewhere. Southgate has to see this. -
