  1. Isn't the oil technically a 'UK' asset? And Scotland would be choosing to voluntarily leave the UK. If Scotland don't want the debt, we'll have the oil!
  2. Would have been a good signing if he was up for the challenge. If we're his second choice or he's stalling for cash, I'd rather we just pulled out. Would rather have the money to spend on someone that wants to play for our club in January. If he thinks he's too good for us, balls to him.
  3. I must have either got used to us being a bit shit or have calmed down a lot recently, as I've really enjoyed going to the last two matches. Sat by the dugout for a change, as am usually Holte, so was nice to get a different perspective on the match, listen to the players talking to each other and that. On that note, Senderos is bloody loud, and is very good at talking to the defence. I like what I've seen of him so far. I don't think you can really blame this on the manager. We had plenty of chances, and poor finishing cost us. Bent and Baker each could have had a couple, and Bacuna could have done better with his chance. Grealish looked bright, though it'll be interesting to see if he can wander past higher level defences so casually without costing us possession a lot of the time. Disappointed to be out, but it's not the end of the world, and other second round results show that this happens to other teams too. 6 out of the 13 Premier League teams that played lost to lower league opposition I think? That's cups for ya. I just hope that losing this doesn't make for an ugly crowd against Hull. It doesn't help. Oh, and to the clown giving Lambert dog's abuse after the goal went in - if you don't want to be called a prick, stop acting like a prick. Grown adults acting like that is sad to see.
  4. Looks a different class alongside decent players. Wouldn't be surprised to see Van Gaal after him since he needs a couple of centre halves. Known by the manager, liked by the manager, experience in the premier league and would only be a few million. Couldn't blame Ron for wanting out. After beating Spain like that in the World Cup, he must think he can do better than us.
  5. I thought the ref was very poor, and wouldn't be surprised if an eye was on the unrest in Brazil and it was thought it'd be better all round if they just won. But two of the decision I can understand - the foul on the keeper shouldn't be a foul, but in modern day football, that's going to be given more often than not. The 'elbow' wasn't a real elbow, and you'd be annoyed if a Villa player got sent off for the same thing. One of the big one's I thought though that no one seems to have mentioned is when Olic (I think) got his legs clipped when through on goal and went flying. That was a red for me (TM Andy Townsend).
  6. Very well said. Good luck on your travels Randy!
  7. Set about it right I think. They were getting frustrated and another ten minutes of holding out might have seen us get something. Nice to see Lambert went for it a bit after going behind, and a couple of the kids got a run out. Let's just look forward to an interesting summer. Amd at least plop ain't winning the League. Every cloud.
  8. We won't sign him, but if we were to sign a little shit who kicks people in the head while they're on the floor, my season ticket would be finding its way back to Villa Park without me.
  9. I get angry after a bad result like most people, but in my heart I don't think I've actually wanted Lambert gone. We've shown glimpses of excellent football over the last couple of seasons (sadly quite rarely), and he seems to have a decent eye for transfers. But I think today I've changed to the 'gotta go' camp. Glimpses aren't enough, and they seem to be getting rarer. Two years now, you have to have built some consistent quality by then surely. The lack of money to build a whole squad has kept me onside too, but how much have Palace spent to get the double over us and finish above us? I genuinely don't know but I'd hazard a guess it's a lot less than us over the last two years. The only thing is, sack him for who? Who would come to us? It's a poisoned job. The fans won't accept anything less than comfortable mid-table, and even then the next year we'd expect to be pushing for 6th. Even if a manager worked that miracle, we'd still find something to moan about. If anyone took us down or anywhere near down, there'd be hell to pay. We've been patient with Lambert; way more patient than I think we'd be with anyone new as we're all rightly sick of Aston Villa being perennial relegation battlers. Who would take the job? The only man I can think of is Hughton, and if I was him I wouldn't touch the job with a bargepole. Lerner has presided over this decline, and eventually there won't be three shitter teams and our luck will run out. Unfortunately he's the only one at the club we can't sack, and who here trusts him to install a competent new manager and back him adequately? It's hopeless
  10. Say 'up the villa' Jenny! Or 'lambert out'!
  11. Closest we'll ever come to winning anything! We'll done Jenny.
  12. Albrighton brilliant. Everyone else somewhere between poor and shit. Lambert : shit. What a waste of a Saturday. Can't justify spending money to have shit Saturdays any more. I'm done.
  13. To be even close to winning anything you need the level of investment he got - and then some. Wigan, Swansea and Small Heath might have something to say about that.
  14. I thought that was Lukaku. If not then I've been unfairly slagging Lukaku off to anyone who'd listen. Ha, same here!!

Another vote for 'sign him up'
  16. Never been a hardcore F1 fan but always looked forward to the season started and made sure I could be somewhere to watch the race on a Sunday, and was always gutted if I had to miss one. Haven't watched any for months now.
  17. Yeah, but in all honesty it wasn't a headline grabbing game. They could have still given us at least 5 mins. I was thinking maybe it was cause it was a BT sport game? It is yeah. Sky can pretty much show the goals and not much else for BT games.
  18. I hope so. A Man U mate offered me a hundred trillion to one on Fergie being their next manager. I had 0.1p on it, to return £10,000,000,000. I'd have taken 100/1 to be honest.
  19. Was umming and arring about this when Stoke did it. In a way it'd put me off going to away games a little bit. They're really pricey, so if there's free travel, I couldn't justify an extra £30 or £40 for a train. Buit just going straight there and straight back, with no drinking, is a bit shite. I like to make a day of my away matches. Not that I'm knocking it, it is a nice gesture. If it's part of a premier league initiative, a max cap on away tickets would be much better. £52 for Chelsea? It's getting stupid. If a club charges £50 for away tickets, and sold out every single allocation of 3,000, it'd cost them about £1.7m in a season of lost revenue to cap tickets at £20. As it is, most come nowehre near selling out, so it'd probably be half that. Given that it might also get more fans through the doors, with more sellouts, it might be even less than that, probably about half a million a season. With the extra £20m revenue each year, it really wouldn't hurt each club to do that.
  20. Appreciate my cat God damn it.
  21. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing Bennett on the wing if ever we wanted to switch to a 4-4-2. I think he's very competent going forwards.
  22. I'd play the second string. Stick the big guns on the bench just in case. Give all the new boys and a couple of kids a run out. Steer Herd Clark Baker Bennet Gardner Sylla Bacuna Tonev Helenius Weimann
  23. First time I've been on here since the match. Was a little disappointing as I thought we'd beat them, which shows how much we've grown over the past six months really. First half was turgid. Great goal from Sturridge from their only shot on target from what I can remember. Bacuna I thought was a bit out of place, but it's his first game so I don't know why he's getting much criticism - give him time. Saying that, I've no idea why he got MotM! I thought Delph looked a different level, and he's obviously continued to improve from last season. Very promising - he looked quite a player. Liverpool got the goal and sat back, and we couldn't break them down. No tragedy, they're a good team this year even with Ratty. Can see them threatening for top four this season. Three tough games in a week, and three points, with some good performances. Very promising. FWIW, after some awful refereeing already this season in our matches, I thought Clattenburg was excellent..
