  1. I'm Irish but I live in Berlin. In comparison to another European capital city - London, our cost of living is much lower. According to Numbeo Zurich (European number 1) for example has a COL Index of 130.99, London is 94.82 (Birmingham 75.52) and Berlin a cosy 66.34 - 31% lower. Of the top 15 cities only Aberdeen, London and Reykjavik are in the EU (for now). Not only that it's happier here too. Mercer's Quality of Living Survery (Worldwide) lists 6 German cities in the top 20 happiest places to live. Number 1 is Vienna with a rating of 108.6 Berlin ranks "poorly" at 14th - 105. London - 40th - 101. It's a happier place where your money goes further. It's almost as if that's what we look for in life. So while the minimum wage may be lower here it also serves to prove that governments can control their own matters too. The supposition that immigrants are affecting German wages is nonsensical. We literally earn much less if equally qualified.
  2. French railways look like they're gonna go ahead with a nine day strike. Whether you're a Guardian or Express reader you have to admit, you simply do not **** about with French unions and labour law. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/euro-2016-hopes-of-averting-french-rail-strikes-before-tournament-dim-a7068446.html
  3. Why if he is so good, did he stump for ourselves? I don't ask that in too self deprecating a manner. Leaving wages aside, is it solely the allure of B6 with RDM? The man seems over qualified for PL let alone the Championship. No complaints here though, I've even learned more about goalkeeping in that article alone than in my previous 31 years of life!
  4. Yeh you just can't beat a bit of homophobia! To be fair, he's just an auld geezer but still, pure FAIlure levels of egg on face.
  5. Are we still waiting to become an official Championship side so as to have complete Football League ratification? I ask this because it appears the Swansea deal is done. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/jun/05/swansea-city-takeover-premier-league Or is this just in the same way that ours is "complete", ie. they've agreed the price and now the fit & proper tests are to be completed? Because to me, this Swansea deal seems like it's in the bag and ours continues to drag on.
  6. When David Cameron is on the side of the rational and logical side of the argument, you can see how easy it is to be convinced otherwise. I still think you guys will stay which, is a great thing for Ireland (no one seems to really mind our immigration), given we are one another's no. 1 trading partners and in the long term a good thing for the UK as a whole. Of course ultimately the real fear is dickheads like me will be chiming on the "England out of the Euros before Europe" puns
  7. Liverpool fans were very quick to forget about the annual summer Chelsea saga with Stevie Starfish.
  8. If we stayed up, I think you'd get a definitive idea of who's got it or not. In the Championship Gabbie & Gestede might look like a world beaters. Of course the Championship is of a far better standard than 10 years ago when PL sides would expect to brush them aside in the FA Cup or whatever, I still think some of the deadwood that we can't shift & can manage to get their game might stick around like a bad smell. Hopefully RDM and the backroom team have the stones to get fellas where they belong, in the dole que.
  9. No harm done. It's also worth noting, everyone gets sacked by Chelsea, so it's hardly like it counts anyway.
  10. Context please. It was guessed he had been sacked by all clubs bar MK Dons, which simply isn't true. I also said nothing of his achievements, though I do find the constant need to downgrade his ability or achievements as rather galling.
  11. Schalke ... He hasn't exactly managed a pile of clubs you know.
  12. Exceptionally important for a manager
  13. I'm delighted by this news. Perhaps I'm a bit unrealistic because the Championship is much tougher than I realise but for me, RDM is a marquee signing and the first by this club in a long time. It also suggests that Xia has the cash to go and we're likely to splash the bobs around. I still believe Di Matteo is a fine manager and while he was sacked a couple times, he's been a winner on and off the pitch. He speaks more languages than any of us and in truth, depending on the player nationalities, could be an invaluable asset. Also, very well dressed man he is too.
  14. Since when are we taking the Daily Heil seriously? Even birds would be horrified to see that lining their cage.
  15. Ah sure he's been sitting on the couch in his PJs watching re-runs of Friends, Scrubs and Jeremy Kyle. He's well used to bad comedies and violence now.
  16. Well, you do rather need to be a sadomasochist to support Villa, so maybe he's the man for the job after all!
  17. To be fair, a great weight was on his shoulders for much of the season.
  18. Stan with Andy Gray as his assistant. They'll work on promoting our image with women.
  19. It tells me he was rarely at a club longer than 12 months. Nothing else.
  20. Bolding your text doesn't make it any more correct, it's a little like increasing ones volume in a verbal debate. Largely successful rather did imply the notion it wasn't wholly successful, you could say, a little unsuccesful. I've a newsflash for you. We've won nothing in a long time, we just got relegated. He has Championship and European experience. He has very many of the qualities we are looking for. Though not massively important, in his playing career - he is one of the better players to move from Europe to English football. . His win records are for the most part rather decent. Just because Tony says we'll be bigger than Barcelona doesn't mean we should think we already are. We've had MON, Houllier, McLeish, Lambert, Tim and Garde as our managers over the last while. It is fair to say, we're not exactly the draw we may perceives ourselves to be.
  21. Chelsea managerial changes are hardly a rarity. Their owner is well known for his volatility. He's rashly sacked managers who have won much more than that.
  22. Not a solitary fact in that post at all yet damning in the extreme. You're isolating his entire managerial career (which has been largely successful) into one night and the take away point is purely conjecture.
  23. Exactly, imagine how much more satisfying it would be knowing you paid £6.95 for that damage
