  1. A win is a win. So credit where it’s due We’re pretty dire though.
  2. Top 11 non blinkers get picked. and the biggest arse gets captains arm band
  3. Could’ve said the same about the squad before smith took over from Bruce don’t underestimate the impact of how a manager sets the team up
  4. Can you stream your search on twitch for me please, and rescue me from Gerrard-ball?
  5. Came off after about 60 minutes. Smith tactical change. They went 3-1 up shortly after with the guy that replaced him getting the assist.
  6. Taking over from low in confidence team, and with the same players completely changing the fortune of the club. What he did was almost miraculous, let alone wanting more!
  7. We’re not always privy to what goes on behind the scenes. If there’s disruption or disrespect then I’m behind Gerrard. if this is just nasty games to try to force a player to leave, then that’s a despicable practice that needs to be stopped at all clubs.
  8. There’s not being good enough, and then there’s being treated in a certain way to force a player to move on. The same happened to AEG. I can’t say that I agree with these tactics. Although, contracts work both ways. If the player doesn’t like it, then they should be having serious words with their agents about not inserting a ‘made to train with the kids’ clause. Or ‘not named in the first team squad’ clause.
  9. The most obviously predictable outcome, foreseen by everyone except Jack. He chose the party life/glamour over football and is paying the price for selling his soul. I hope he regrets his decision every day until the day he dies, and I wish him a long, long life.
  10. THIS. it’s awful when you go to a sports store in birmingham, and you see more Man U and liverpool - and now even Arsenal and bloody spurs - merchandise than Villa stuff. First you think bastard shop owners! Then you realise it’s just supplying for the demand. It’s **** awful. On a Wednesday 5 aside in birmingham, if the ten players, there’s me (villa) and one other guy (baggies) that support birmingham clubs. The rest are Man U liverpool Arsenal and spurs. All born and bred in birmingham. 80% supporting non local teams. And I’m not talking just armchair supporters. Half these guys are season ticket holders at these clubs, or at the very least are buying their merchandise.
  11. I was merely giving an example of a stupid thing to say.
  12. How about YOU google some of the other premier league owners. My point isn’t that the Saudis are squeaky clean. My point is that I 100000% guarantee you that Emery not working for them has NOTHING to do with him making a moral stand. An utterly bizarre thought process, like saying ‘Poch will turn down villa on moral grounds because Sawiris has a stake in Adidas and they use child slavery in Indonesia.’
  13. more to the point, why are we looking at Buendia’s stats in the Sanson thread? (maybe, just maybe, I was responding to another posters statement?) Your first paragraph is 100% correct. It is a tiny tiny sample and you can not draw much of a conclusion from it. What you CAN say is that in 266 minutes, Coutinho hasn’t contributed, nor looked like contributing anything creatively. Your last paragraph I’m going to ignore as just plain stupid.
  14. What the **** is this bullshit? what moral grounds would those be? the same moral grounds that stopped him from working for the Qataris at PSG?
  15. Yeah. Haaland has 12 goals almost entirely because his team mates have put them on a plate for him. (and that goal he scored was actually a 1-2 with Ollie)
  16. Apparently chelsea will be speaking to potter…. Which means that he should be available in 6 months..
  17. I guarantee you if we were winning games playing great football, the people calling for his head would be his biggest fans. It’s just a reflection on peoples personalities. There are no hidden agendas, it is all about the appraisal of someone’s performance. The fact that we are celebrating a draw with city where we were comfortably second best is testament to how far we have fallen. It wasn’t long ago when we were going toe to toe with them and only losing because of an unbelievable offside decision that wasn’t given allowing Rodri to rob Mings and score. And here we are just 2 seasons on, gushing with optimism because we didn’t lose 6-0? Just how dire have we been in recent times to be celebrating the fact that we clung on for a point. Its an extremely positive result, but only relative to where we are now. Like I’ve said before, I’m delighted we got a point, and the improvement has meant I’m just a little more patient. But my satisfaction levels have gone from 100% from before losing Grealish, to 70% before sacking smith, to 10% before the city game, to 15% after that draw. There may have been an upturn in fortune. But he’s still guided us from 70% to 15% in my eyes. He’s got a long long long way to go yet, but I would genuinely be delighted for him (and us) if he manages it.
  18. FTFY. Ranieri won the premier league and then almost relegated Leicester the very next season. Don’t know why you think Gerrard is relegation-proof.
