  1. He’d be mental, how ridiculous. Fair enough he may well choose Palace, but to say he’d be mental is ridiculous.
  2. Being called out by another bed wetter. Oh the shame.
  3. Because we have far stronger financial backing, and a higher ceiling. Oh yeah, we’re a bigger club too. Go back to wetting your bed.
  4. Yeah but what I think TRO is trying to say is that the general physicality that those signings brought has given Newcastle the platform to improve other areas of their game - they’re not a team of thugs like Stoke or Wimbledon were, but they don’t allow teams to bully them like we allow ourselves to, and now they have the confidence to go and play decent football against top sides.
  5. I was almost as big a fan of Dean as you were mate, but I could see by the end that he had to go. It’s just unfortunate that it’s looking more and more by the week that we’ve made a mistake with his replacement.
  6. We are in danger of sleepwalking through another season in this league. The level of investment means we will never be in any real danger because of the quality of the squad, but I cannot believe that NSWE are putting in the sort of money that they have and inflated the wage bill to finish 12th-15th. The level of performance since Gerrard’s arrival has gone backwards, those first games I saw a competitiveness and aggression to our play, but we’re just too easy to play against, especially at Villa Park and on too many occasions against teams that we should be putting to the sword. For the first time I’m sat thinking that Steven Gerrard is in a bit of trouble here, we’re yet to see very much already this season and with West Ham, Arsenal and Man City next to play in the league, we could easily see ourselves with 3 points from 18, and confidence at rock bottom.
  7. VP felt super negative when we were finishing 6th regularly, let alone on here! We didn’t know how good we had it!
  8. First paragraph “I’m going to get angry about something I think will happen, even though it hasn’t happened yet”. Second paragraph “I’m going to have a rant about the manager regardless of the fact that we won at the weekend because of the thing that I’m angry about that hasn’t happened yet”
  9. While he has provided many decent cameo’s for us, I cannot remember the last time that he has completely transformed us like he did today. Everything just seemed so pedestrian until he came on, we really attacked with purpose from the second he arrived. Surely he has to start against Palace, he simply has to. It is getting to the point where he simply cannot be left out.
  10. He won’t. You’d probably blame Steven Gerrard for the burnt sausages too.
  11. I think we have to try and be a little patient, but I appreciate that it’s difficult to be with performances like that yesterday. That’s 2 years in a row we’ve gone to a newly promoted side and royally stunk the place out. I appreciate there is no easy games in the PL, but there is no excuse for your opponent simply wanting it more and that is something that you would not expect to see from a team managed by Steven Gerrard when you look at him as a player. Anything less than 3 points next weekend and it’s already looking like yet another disappointing season for us. We have to start showing improvement, and IMO we have to stop being loyal to underperforming players, it’s really holding us back and we have the depth in our squad now to make changes. Onto Everton at Villa Park next Saturday, the season simply has to start then…
  12. Can you imagine the u-turn from their fanbase? He’s go from s*** to World Class, and England’s best defender literally overnight!
  13. After a little break away from here, I’ve decided that I can’t be bothered to argue with people anymore. I hope you get whatever result makes you happy. I’m going for a 0-2 to Villa today, Bailey and Archer to score. UTV!!
  14. But that’s not what you said. Your post said “Given Gerrard's mates in the media I wouldn't be surprised if those figures are purposefully misleading to make him look more popular than he is. “
  15. Brilliant. So now his mates in the media are fudging the figures. Funny how if this was showing Gerrard as 75%, it would be taken as gospel.
  16. Gregg Evans - the guy who is full of s*** and has zero credibility until he says something you want to use to back up your point!
  17. @JAMAICAN-VILLAN I think we get it mate
  18. I loved having Dean Smith as our manager, I can admit to having a wobble before Lockdown in 2020 but he proved me wrong, and on the whole I am enjoying having Steven Gerrard as our manager so I’m not sure exactly where anyone would pigeonhole me? About SG, I’m not sure if it’s because he used to play for and captain Liverpool and score regularly against us as a player, or if it’s because they’re worried that he’s going to leave at the first opportunity, but the section of fans on here who’ve been against him literally from day one are baffling. I don’t think anything is ever going to change their mind about him, and I guess that is their opinion, and they’re entitled to it, but god doesn’t it get tedious to read. Whether it’s for his own selfish reasons or not, he wants success and that can only be a good thing for us! It’s been up and down since SG arrived, and of course he is not immune to criticism as we have seen the good, the bad and definitely the ugly since November, but as a fan base we have to draw a line under last season as it’s gone. We’ve had a relatively decent preseason (unbeaten, 3 wins from 4) and we’ve got the strongest squad I’ve ever seen in my 30 plus years as a supporter. We should all be genuinely optimistic for the season, we’ve strengthened in areas where we needed strengthening and previous signings are obviously going to be more settled. I know I’m not going to change any bodies mind on this matter, but just thought I’d give my 2p’s worth.
  19. I do not believe for one second that the club/NC could’ve got a passport but didn’t. Unfortunately he has missed an important and sizeable part of our preseason, if that could’ve been avoided then I’m certain the club would’ve.
  20. I know its one of the biggest cliches in football, but he’s going to be like a new signing providing he stays fit.
  21. I’m not going to take too much away from a friendly, but it does feel like we only have a decent 45 minutes in us still.
  22. Ffs, why haven’t we signed Ash’s Nan? NSWE out!!
  23. See Hippo, this is totally sensible and fair. Where has this guy been?
