Today’s poor touches smacked of a guy who was trying too hard. It’s understandable, he’s not made back-to-back starts in a long time and he’s desperately trying to prove himself. I would imagine he will be a big player for our next manager, when that will be is another question.

Great news that he’s signed a new deal, whether he’s here for the entirety of that contract is another matter, but it would be a pain to lose him for nothing in the summer or receive a poor amount in January. I have to be honest though, for all these people saying “he knows something” or similar, I think that’s well wide of the mark personally.

Just to clarify for anyone who is confused, Gerrard is rigid and stubborn for sticking with his existing formations, and he’s desperate and naive for trying to change them. But either way, whatever he does, he’s s***.

How has this even become a fact? There’s plenty to critique about Steven Gerrard but things get suggested on one page whether it’s tongue in cheek or not, and then by the next page it’s fact and someone is outraged about it.

That’s fair enough, the point I’m trying to make is that if he wasn’t sacked off the back of the poor end to 21/22 and the poor start to this season, then they’re not going to sack him off the back of 2 clean sheets and 5 points from 9 are they?

5 points from the last 9 available, 3 game unbeaten run including a draw against City, 2 clean sheets in a row, all as injuries are slowly starting to pile up. I’m not trying to make it sound fantastic, and believe me It’s not enjoyable to watch right now, but if we can take the 3 points next Monday at Forest then that’s 8 from 12 and we’re slowly climbing up the table. They’re not going to sack him as imminently as I know a lot of fans want, not while we’re picking up points anyway.

Reading between the lines from the Supporters Trust meeting, Gerrard isn’t going anywhere just yet. He’s still got the backing of CP and NSWE. If we’re still bottom 5 by the time the WC break comes around then possibly they will make a change? I don’t see Poch still being available by that time anyway.

I hadn’t thought of that, hopefully it is something along those lines but I still am pretty taken back at the use of language. As I said, imo It’s fair game to rate or not rate whoever you wish, but as a pundit who is also an ex-professional then I think you have to show far more diplomacy than has been shown by Danny Mills in this instance.

“At what point are we allowed to discuss that?” Its all that gets discussed on this thread, and is the main reason why it’s the most boring one on the main board. And as for the “Everyone wants Gerrard to do well” - it’s simply not true.
