  1. In consideration of all the 'successful' economies that exist outside of the EU, are we really only doing reasonably well (in world relative terms) because the United Kingdom is currently a member of the European Union? If so, how do the other reasonably successful economies do it despite the EU?
  2. I'm struggling to see the hilarity in the above YouTube video.
  3. Am I strange to be happy that our players are, whilst good enough to be squad selected, not actually played in international matches? Keeps them fit and focused on football (possibly instead of a few days away with the mates), but without the risk of an injury or tiredness.
  4. He certainly does! Hopefully the current players have more sense!
  5. MoN won't want one of his players banned for 3 games so I think he'll warn them against any retribution attempt. Also, if any of the Republic of Ireland players thought Taylor's tackle was so bad, why would they sink to the same level?
  6. I think there's a long way to go with the process and even longer (possibly a decade or more) to assess the long term effect on the UK and EU. Between now and 2030 it will be interesting to review this thread every 6 months or so to see how accurate the speculation is.
  7. I'm sure there are markets outside the EU that are satisfied with their trading relationship with the EU and vice versa, i.e. the relationship is mutually beneficial. Perhaps we should aim for that.
  8. Does the EU currently have any mutually successfully trade agreements with markets outside it's own?
  9. Why would a tariff-free trade agreement with the UK threaten the EU's entire business model?
  10. I think the point made was that statistics prove that it's less safe to drink drive (even if an individual drink-driver genuinely believes they are being safe) so governments have restricted it and the majority of each society accept it. Would you accept a firearms ban based on the same logical process, even though you think you are safer owning firearms than not?
  11. I'm not sure Ferrari are currently too concerned about McLaren!
  12. Small world. My best mate of 40 years that I still see every week and occasionally holiday with, also works at Brixworth. I get some very small snippets of 'inside' information but it's more on a geeky technical level than something interesting to a typical F1 fan and it's certainly not something I would risk a 40 year friendship for sharing! I can say that during numerous 'meet and greets' over the years, Rosberg and Bottas seem nicer, more genuine blokes and Niki Lauda is very funny. Other than being a great driver, my views on Hamilton are curtailed by my Mom's advice - 'if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all'.
  13. 5 foot 8 inches and reckons she's 8 and a half stone but you think she 'isn't super slim '. Someone is mistaken!
  14. It's the bold type which changed me from your last paragraph to your first. Shame really as for all his wealth and driving ability, I genuinely wouldn't swap my life with his.
  15. With very few exceptions, it appears that the skill of an F1 driver is inversely proportional to how likeable they are. As such, Hamilton is a very good driver.
  16. The concrete face has been jet washed before. It soon looks dirty again so probably isn't worth the tens of thousands a contractor would charge for the scaffolding, risk assessments, etc etc.
  17. It's all rather irrelevant in the context of Aston Villa.
  18. Still no news on whether we appealed?
  19. Declaring independence in a matter of days. There maybe trouble ahead...
  20. Has it been officially confirmed that Villa are appealing?
  21. I thought the point you made included that it would be a different story in assisting enquiries if it harmed kids and yet drugs do have a devastating effect on kids life's, sometimes directly but often indirectly and despite the ignorance of a parent(s) that either have their 'head in the sand' or don't give a ****.
  22. Thanks for the info. As I shouldn't have been so lazy, I checked the Rewards site and it appears the 500 points is for 'you and a guest' so effectively it's 250 points per person. I might give it a go some game this season.
