  1. Of over 30 years of watching at Villa Park, I'd estimate for every 10 similar tackles I've witnessed the result has been: 6 yellows (correct in my opinion); 3 unpunished (today's ref's likely decision for a Bolton player) 1 red (ref's all too obvious decision given his ridiculously biased performance today - doesn't make it correct though!). Despite my thoughts about it being a very obvious yellow, the fact that it is sometimes given as a red, albeit harshly, means I don't think the appeal will be successful.
  2. I think only a couple of TV replays will tell although I am sure that the ref would have blamed a Villa player for your son's injury, if he could.
  3. Blimey! That's almost unnatural! Assuming he's not already one of the 'undead', I think he'll pass away aged 132, looking about 28. In contrast, if I ever catch a glimpse of myself, I'm left thinking 'If god existed, he wouldn't be so cruel'.
  4. I still wish him well but the above makes me feel old. Barry's only 11 years younger than me, yet in the time Barry's gone from looking about 12 through to 20 years old, I've gone from looking 30 to about 50.
  5. My 31 day notice to end contract is 1st October. Last week, I received a letter offering 50% off for 12 months provided I resign before 21st September. I've just checked my sky.com account and the only offer there is 30% discount. Should I ring Sky to reference the 50% discount before the 21st or wait until the end of September for a better offer? I find it strange that their initial offer (50%) supposedly ends well before my contract end and also that it's not readily available on my Sky online account. Any advice, please?

Having flown to Florida 10 times (Orlando MCO 7, Tampa TPA 3), I don't think BA are any worse or better than other low-cost and chartered airlines that fly to central FL. It's nearly 120 miles from MCO to Clearwater Beach so to do it in 2 hours or less would rely on no traffic (rare in the Orlando and Tampa areas of the drive) and some risky speeding. A more typical drive time is around 2.5 hours or 3 hours in traffic. Even flying with BA (just don't expect anything special) I think you've made the correct decision for two reasons. The obvious one is your drive will be around 2 hours shorter. The other is that TPA is a much, much, much better airport to travel through than MCO. Although still a decent size and equipped to handle more flights, TPA is much quieter. During my 3 arrivals we were their only international arrival of the day so immigration was a friendly 2 minute breeze. Luggage and hire car collection again took just a few minutes. Contrast that to a typical arrival at MCO with their unfriendly immigration and big queues, you'll save at least 30 minutes on the time it takes from touching down to driving out of the airport and experience a much calmer process. So much so, that after the Tampa 'secret' got out (my first 2009 TPA flight was £200 cheaper per person than flying into MCO) now making it a similar cost to both airports, we chose TPA over MCO another two times and we were driving to Kissimmee (1hr 20min from TPA, just 30min from MCO).
  7. Assuming the second series is a success, '$500m in 5 years' might dictate the show's length.
  8. When you add to the 'conversation' of a thread and post before recognising it contradicts the title of the thread.
  9. It's great and my favourite stage of my life so far. My oldest was 20 last week and my youngest is 18 in 2 weeks. They are both quite mature for their ages and have had partners for the last couple of years so they've never felt the need to stage house parties in our absence. The most they've had is 4 friends in for drinks where they Skype'd us a couple of times to show us the fun they were having and we returned to a cleaner house than when we left. For the last decade our financial situation has improved significantly so my wife and I have travelled well - every year we've managed one or two family holidays plus a couple of city breaks for me and the missus. Having well behaved kids meant that we were fortunate to have family who were happy to move into our house for a few days and look after them. 5 months ago we left them home alone for almost 3 weeks whilst we toured South East Asia. Next month's holiday to Greece is with my kids and their partners which will bring a different dimension. S'all good man.
  10. Couldn't see any chainsaws in the photo just things that I've seen in Webbs, no doubt for a small fortune.
  11. It's difficult to be threatening when brandishing things from a garden centre.
  12. I agree, but that doesn't detract from my original comment in reference to McCormack.
  13. Depends on the effort he's making at BMH, the lifestyle he leads away from football and the physical/mental condition he keeps himself in. Not a good example to our younger players if we select players who don't give a monkeys.
  14. Currently trying to cancel my Sky TV. Sky.com constantly show the online chat as busy. Is it possible to cancel without ringing them?
  15. Hopefully most will arrive in the next two days but it does sound like there will be plenty without them come Saturday afternoon.
  16. I had 3 season cards in my post this morning. My guess is that they have all been posted in time to arrive by tomorrow at the latest. Unfortunately, the few that are genuinely lost in the post (anyone got a nose postie?), will need to collect or print a ticket on Saturday. Hopefully it will only be few of approximately 20,000.
  17. It appears you were 100% correct with your assessment of him. He didn't deserve you looking out for him but that what helps to make you the better person. I'm old enough to know there has always been men who are idiots/nasty pieces of work but the last decade or so does seem to have seen a big increase in the selfish scumbags who have a vile attitude to others and take everything, like it's their right, whilst offering nothing back to others. There is someone married to my in-law side of the family that is just like the guy you described. Most of the family wish he'd 'go elsewhere' but there's one or two that facilitate his selfishness, even though they moan about it as well.
