  1. Often a team or two, who were previously on mid-table form, get dragged in to the relegation issue. Conversely, there is often a team or two who, despite their previously rubbish form, pick up unexpected points. We just need to hope that team is us!
  2. Has Pistorius been asked exactly why he thought it was an intruder instead of the other person he knew was in the house (but apparently wasn't sure where she was at that moment)? Pistorius said he shouted at the person before firing his gun. Wouldn't his girlfriend have replied and thus identified herself? I can only imagine hearing a noise from my ensuite at 3am and me shouting "Oi burglar, F*UCK OFF!" Only to hear a bemused reply from my wife - "Go back to bed love, I'm having a wee". These things must work differently south of the equator.
  3. I've received an email detailing an event this Friday evening: Hope for Georgia The Slug and Lettuce Bromsgrove is Supporting the Charity Set up for a very young girl, Georgia… Georgia and her family need to raise money for Stem Cell Treatment that unfortunately can not happen in England. We have a fantastic evening of Live Music from Paradise Forum… A Band that recently Played for the Aston Villa Kit Launch Party. We also have 3 ex Aston Villa Player Legends coming down to Support the Night and will be around for fan photographs and signings. To also Help raise money we are hosting a Raffle from donating businesses including Block 98, Passion4Dance, Elite Performing Arts, Profiles Hair and Beauty, The Dolphin Centre and Many More. Raffle Tickets are £5 a strip and all monies raised goes to the Charity. This is a night definitely not to be missed and the support and kindness from our customers will help to make this a fantastic night. http://www.slugandlettuce.co.uk/bromsgrove/events/view/207503/hope-for-georgia'>Click here for details. I don't know who the ex-Villa players will be but the lead singer of Paradise Forum is Peter Withe's son, which may, or may not be a clue. I fancy a few beers on Friday night, so I'll be there. Hopefully some of you will be there to help make it a decent Villa night (for a change!)
  4. I second Rev's opinion of Hank/Dean Norris. Great character/actor.
  5. Seriously, how long do you think someone should date before it's not odd to kill their partner? Ha ha, no my point was in domestic killings it always seems to be couples who have been together a bit longer. Must be hard to build up that level of hatred in 2 months. South African police stated there have been several police visits to Pistorius' home investigating incidents of a domestic nature in the past. I suspect the killing was not premeditated through 'hatred' but was an extension of snapping in the heat of the moment. The police will be aware of the details surrounding Pistorius' previous issues which may point towards his propensity to losing self control. If someone has that problem I don't think dating time would be much of a factor.

  7. I wasn't going to put it quite like Rob, but my opinion is the same. If you can't enjoy each other now, when can you? Plus it's cheap. The money we saved by following Rob's advice in the early years has enabled the wife and me to continue the theme in more luxurious style 20 years on.
  8. It could be anything, so I'm not convinced of the need to look for a negative. My guess is that scoring a penalty is expected and only took us one goal in front with plenty of time and work left to do. The free kick was more special and took us in to a lead that the players felt would win us the game (correctly, as it turned out).
  9. Started but was subbed on 62'. Assuming he didn't pick up a knock, an hour midweek should keep him fresh for the weekend.
  10. From the BBC, 136 opposed the bill, 127 were in favour, 35 did not vote and 5 registered an abstention by voting both in favour and against. What is interesting to me is that less than half (45%) of the 303 Conservative MPs voted against homosexual marriage. I'll have that fact ready for future discussions with the older members of my family who, despite their compartive wealth and comfortable lifestyle, seem to be increasingly exasperated about life in the UK and keep saying things like "thin end of the wegde". It makes me laugh.
  11. D_V, you know you have come to the correct conclusion, especially her not being the "be all and end all". Just ensure you stick to it! Even your posts have shown more maturity than she sounds capable of and she definitely does not sound the right kind of partner for you. Make a permanent emotional break and enjoy yourself looking elsewhere.
  12. As amazingly impressive Crossrail is, it won't be built as the Victorians would have; the lives of a few dozen construction workers will be spared!
  13. You got knocked back by Maggie for three months?
  14. Assuming that 90% of the labour and material will be UK sourced, how much of the total budget would be returned to the UK economy via: taxes paid; thousands of reasonably well paid construction and service employees not claiming welfare or tax credits; the same employees, who may otherwise be unemployed or in low paid jobs, spending their wages on goods and services in support of the UK economy? It must amount to a significant return of the initial outlay. No agenda, just curious.
  15. I suspect if the woman quite likes you she will appreciate it. If she doesn't like you much it will be an excuse to think you're trying too hard. Either way, it's a good way to progress things and find out!

    Top Gear

Tonight's show featured a Ford Cortina and a Ford Mondeo. What more do you want?
  17. I genuinely hope so. As an aside, your avatar makes me feel ill. Is it entirely necessary?
  18. ITK - He didn't realise Wet Spam was in Lardan. ;-)

    Snow Watch!

More snow on the way back from VP tonight. An extra inch has settled on top of the 5 or 6 we've had so far here in Lickey End. Enough to make it a very slippy return trip up the two hills in to my Close.
  20. +1. I am being serious. Least favourite is easily Thatcher.
