  1. Probably a daft question but if he’s not fit to make the squad on Wednesday, would he still attend the game or stay away?
  2. Such a tough fixture because do they have any weak spots? One quality player missing and another just slots straight in. However, no one is unbeatable and we have to go into the game with that belief. Gerrard will provide that kind of belief and demand it even. Be interesting to see the players mentality if we go a goal down? Under Smith, our recovery from a losing position was mostly poor. Depending on fitness/fatigue, then the team that started so well against Palace keep the shirt on merit in my view. From half time (if it’s not working or we’re losing) or after 60/70 minutes, then fresh legs can be used. I would then consider some rotation against Leicester possibly next Sunday. My heart says a credible draw but my head says they’ll be too good for us. Martinez Cash Konsa Mings Targett Nakamba McGinn Ramsey Bailey Watkins Young Subs: Steer, Hause, Tuanzebe, Luiz, Sanson, Buendia, Carney, El-Ghazi, Ings
  3. Interestingly, he’s not made the bench either today, so you would assume that he wouldn’t be fit to start on Wednesday? At best, he may make the bench on Wednesday but looking doubtful. I’m pleased to be honest because that kind of sideshow can be a distraction for us and the players.
  4. He was/still is highly thought off and has several England caps to his name. However, if he is earning the reported £85K a week, then we shouldn’t be pursuing him. He’d want an improved contract to move and he’s not starting ahead of Konsa or Mings, so it’s a big no from me.
  5. The home game against Norwich on Tuesday really is a must win. Lose that and I don’t see where enough wins will come from? History shows that most teams after 13/14 games and on 6/7 points don’t avoid the drop. They’re in serious, serious trouble.
  6. He’s important to the side at present and did well again today. However, to be part of the top six eventually, we need better.
  7. Would really like a second here to finish these words removed off.
  8. Mings being a true captain of the side. Faultless so far, along with Ramsey and Nakamba. Should be a couple ahead really.
  9. Excellent first half. Pressing, fighting and controlling the game. Ramsey fantastic.
  10. I totally agree. Personally, I don’t think he’s ready to play 20 first team games for us and he should be content making several appearances from the bench this season. However, without repeating my earlier post it could be a little of the green eyed monster creeping in?
  11. Unfortunately the problem could be young players seeing Bellingham playing first team football for Dortmund and England, and they expect the same? Carney is the same age as Bellingham. His agent could now be in his ear saying that he can play regularly for a top team in either the Premier League or Europe? Be a real shame if we lose him but it happens. Even City lost Sancho because the pathway to the first team was clouded.
  12. No Heinz allowed No Daddies allowed No HP allowed ……..and amazingly no “Crucials” allowed?? No wonder Sanson wants out
  13. All about the result yesterday, as we had to stop the rot. He did that. Now, it’ll be interesting to see how Gerrard and the team react when we go a goal down because under Smith, we never really reacted well to it. Under Smith, we seemed to have a plan A from the start, but would then struggle to think of a useful plan B. When things are going wrong, the better coaches/managers see it and change something in order to turn the result around. We’ve been dreadful for a while at doing this, so will be interesting to see when it happens.
  14. Consistency is key now. We need to be able to put 3/4/5 wins together. We also need to take some wins against the top teams like we did last season.
  15. He’s an impact player now and was used brilliantly today.
  16. Another who constantly gets criticised but always seems to create something in a game.
  17. He’s our best defender currently and our best captain. Not sure why people keep doubting him.
  18. I think Gerrard could work absolute wonders with him. Driving forward with the ball is an attribute he already has but having the confidence to get into the box and shoot more needs coaxing out of him. Gerrard could be the perfect mentor.
  19. Still without a win after 12 games. Regardless of having money to spend, it’s gonna take some work to keep them up.
