exactly. ambition this season is to survive if possible. History suggests that its unlikely we survive, but we will try and subvert expectations by finishing 17th.

It’s possible, but almost near impossible. Even Man Utd are struggling to break into the top 4 and they have spending power that dwarfs us plus a great base of a team. We would have to overtake Arsenal and Man Utd to get anywhere near that top 4.

yes, if you include increased sponsorship and commercial opportunities, then £220 million is probably the minimum from getting promotion.

no link, but it was a very interesting comment! The long-term ambition of the owners was contained in that comment, they aren't here just for promotion, they plan to be one of the big clubs (in the long-term).

sorry, was watching on Sky Sports so no link. It was the on-the-pitch interview with Edens, Sawaris and Purslow about 20 mins after the trophy was lifted. It was literally 1 sentence but it just stood out as he was being serious about where we are, rather than celebrating promotion in the moment... Its almost like we have a long-term plan and i haven't ever seen that at Villa before!
