  1. thanks chaps, Romanzo Crimanle sounds right up my street, im trying to 'acquire' it now but cant find any versions with uk subtitles. also, is it a tv show based on the film, or does the show pick up after the film? I'm finding Game of Thrones abit underwhelming so far this season, and with Mad Men over im looking for something new. Having said that....4th June......Hannibal season 3 baby yeah!
  2. season 2 of Gommorah has been confirmed for 2016 so i heard... Another show i stumbled upon this week was 'The thick of it' with Peter Capaldi. Cannot believe i missed it first time round. I binge watched all of it over 3 days. First couple of seasons had crying with laughter. Brilliant tv.
  3. Bloody excellent show. Soon get used to the subtitles. Ciro is brilliant. Cant help but root for him over the numpty savastano's seeing as Don Pietro seems to make bad decision after bad decision, and Genny is a joke for most of the season. It's like a darker more gritty italian version of the sopranos. Any more foreign shows like this i may have missed out on? Only 1 season in and for me, its already near 'the wire' / 'sopranos' / 'breaking bad' in terms of how gripping it is
  4. great show, very underated. Anyone who likes sons of anarchy, should watch this. Made by the same people (and a lot of the same actors) Vick Mackey is a great character, and the last couple of seasons are epic. Anyone looking for something to replace breaking bad should try it. Also I have been re-watching 'deadwood', up there with breaking bad, the sopranos, and the wire for me. Al Swearengen is one of the best characters ive ever seen on the small screen.
  5. lol exactly how I feel. Something so fun about seeing Utd crumble. In the last few years they've gone from arguably best club in the world, to best club in the premiership, and now no longer even the best club in Manchester. What a shame.
  6. the original is great, but I am not alone in thinking the US remake is better. Probably the only time a US remake of a UK comedy will improve it, rather than being an utter disaster (did any give the US inbetweeners a go? I think it got less than 60 seconds in before it was wiped from my hard drive). Funnier more likeable characters, and theres more of it too.
  7. fishing round for something to watch after BB, Homeland I gave up on half way into season 2, and only boardwalk empire and sons of anarchy gives me anything enjoyable to watch ive started the us version of the office which is brilliant. amazingly better than the uk version
  8. How poor were city. Look at the amount of money they have spent over the last few years, and look how far away they are in quality to the best of the best.
  9. lol, good to see im not the only breaking bad fan getting up and watching to latest episode at 7am :-) this final season has been amazing. oh and the box set apparently includes a 3 min long alternative ending!
  10. Ozil to Arsenal 42.5 mill, supposedly almost done.. Fair play to Arsenal if so, top top player.
  11. People here really think this is an elaborate double bluff? Have you seen the footage, and read the background? The areas were being shelled for days, the rebels haven't once been able to conduct an artillery / rocket attack on the government, yet are now supposed to have been able to carry out a large scale chemical attack in multiple locations? The areas attacked were shelled by conventional artillery before and after the strikes. And now the US says it has proof that Syrian chemical units were seen gas masking up, and were in the area. That's in addition to the firebombing, airstrikes and other atrocities that we are seeing daily. If we had acted sooner, could we have toppled Assad in those early weeks when the momentum was with the rebels, Hezbollah were not involved and the Islamists hadn't infiltrated the rebel movement??? Who is to say. Maybe we could have some form of peace by now, and a quick toppling of the regime and have now a fledging democracy a la Libya / Tunisia? We went into Libya for less than this. I am not sure what has changed. For me, I am all for Assad getting a taste of some shock and awe. I don't want our troops on the ground, but there has to be at least limited airstrikes to send a message, you just cant allow chemical weapons use like this to go unpunished. It would however just be nice for us to take a back seat for once though, and let some other countries take up the burden for a change. Turkey and the rest of the middle east need to step up.
  12. u seem to have same taste in tv as me. You need to watch 'the shield', great show, kinda like a more fast paced 'the wire'. 'the borgias' is also very good, and 'sons of anarchy' is another you will like. Boardwalk empire is excellent, gets better as it goes along
  13. bam a lam is genius and will be brilliant if it catches on. Much better than the current one... I agree with the others that some of our current chants are poor to say the least. Even singing SOTC always sticks in my throat, I always think why are we singing about those scumbags instead of chanting support to one of our young players instead?
  14. no..........no....................please for the mother of god.....NOOOOOOoooooooooooooo
  15. so guys who could watch it, how was Okore? Im praying he comes good as our defence still gives me nightmares..
  16. our next best player following Benteke, top top right back, and will be an England regular. Will end up being another £20 mill + player
  17. An AM would be nice, and I feel another is important, as an injury to westwood, or sylla, would really screw us in the midfield. For me though, I think we need an experienced CB. Lescott would me nice. Im confident in our goal scoring threat, less so when it comes to our defence. Still not sold on Vlaar, Clarke or Baker 100%, and Okore though looking a hell of a prospect, is PL untested.
  18. i can see Bent being a few managers 2nd, 3rd, or 4th back up option if main targets dont come off . I have no doubt he will go, considering the bargain basement 6-8 mill fee, but it will be late in the window methinks.
  19. every single time i log onto this site i hear.. ''has christian benteke played his last game for aston villa...'' thanks to that annoying advertisement i get pop up on the site, same one time after time. Really puts me on a downer :-( i hope to god we get another season out of him before he moves on. Luckily there seem to be lots of other big strikers who have been signed or are potentially on the move this summer that might end up helping us keep him (Rooney, Higuain, Lewandowski, Tevez, Torres, David Villa, Cavani etc) He has come on so much last season. He has everything, and when he does go, i am expecting 25-30 mill minimum. The guy is made for the premiership. Good finisher, quick feet, good first touch, and is built like Drogba. He is built for this league, and i can see a huge bidding war if he stays for another year, scores another 20 goals and does well at the world cup (hard not to in such a good Belgium team with the service he will get). If that pans out, then i can see us getting above 30 mill no problem, so we cannot lose either way.
  20. peoples anger at lerner is misplaced. its blatantly obvious how much he cares about the club, and how much of his personal wealth he has pumped in. For me, he has only made 2 x mistakes in all his time here. Backing MON to the hilt, and signing Mcleish. Everything else has been positive. Fans are quick to forget the millions he has pumped in, the improvements to our facilities, the fact he has kept our ticket prices so low etc etc Now people criticise him for backing MON, but every villa fan here was asking for exactly that. Almost every fan he came across was hailing MON as the messiah. So he backed him and backed him big time. Not Lerners fault MON was so appalling at signing players. When it became obvious we had pushed too far financially, and it wasnt going to work, rather than let us sink he plowed more money in, and we then made the inevitable cutbacks. Can we really blame a new naive owner, new to the ownership game, for backing his manager with everything he can financially? Next came Mcleish. How this came about i will never know, and it was almost a fatal mistake by Lerner. No doubt he got bad advice from his advisors, but the fact that Mcleish somehow won a trophy while working at such a shambolic club probably helped sway him. It was stupid decision, and for me, the only black mark against him. Why he gets the hatred from some i dont know, and i think its kind of sad for me. For me, the good far outweighs the bad and we are lucky to have him. CVByrne makes me laugh with his hopes for him to sell up and we get new owners. Have you seen the likes of people queing up to buy football clubs these days? Its a lottery, and the odds are of us getting either some russian mafioso, some shady arab petro billionaires that will suck any soul out of the club, or chancers looking to pile the debt on the club and make a fast buck. You really want to risk our club like that, when things look so promising long term? No thanks, ill stick with what we have.
  21. im not sold on Clarke. Good on the ball, and in the tackle. But is still too light weight and positionally suspect at times for me. If we play a back 4 with him and Bennet, we are so easy to bully by the stronger teams.
  22. He has definately earned himself the title of villa legend imo its more than just goals scored. its the games in which he has scored them, the length of time he has been with us, the fact he is a local lad, he has never complained about being asked to play unfamiliar positions, and trys hard to improve his game year on year. He is also an ever present, hardly ever injured, his finishing and first touch improve every season, and best of all he still only 26, and is coming into his prime. He is an unusual player, as its rare to have someone with such pace also being so big and strong on the ball. It looks like he is going to be a Villa player for his entire career which is a massive boon for us. Keep up the good work Gabby. Great player that we are luckhy to have.
  23. lambert has been very hit and miss , but look at the mess and the squad he inherited.. He certainly hasnt impressed me so far, but we are crying out for some consistancy, and so even if we go down i think we should stick with him, and only fire him if we dont come back up at the first attempt I have inwardly accepted we are going to be relegated, but its certainly not over yet. I wasnt expecting any players in this window, so the two signings we have made were a nice surprise, even if they are relative unknowns. As for all the criticism of Lerner, and all this talk that he has 'abandoned us', im sorry but its over the top. Randy has thrown a hell of a lot of money at us, and other than 2 very questionable managerial appointments he has made ,he has backed every manager we serious cash, and he has always prefered to stay quiet and out of the media, so what he is doing now is the same as he always has. The main cause of our troubles, if the absolutely shocking way our various managers have spent Lerners money. The amount wasted in fee's and wages on the likes of: Beye Warnock Salifou Makoun Hutton Heskey Nzogbia Delph Ireland Collins Dunne Shorey Sidwell Curtis Davies Harewood Whats more depressing than the above list, if the players we could have gotten instead. Is truly scary once you start adding it up. And considering the money Lerner has pumped in he must be absolutely fuming at the poor state of the current squad. You can probably now add Darren Bent to the list. I doubted the sense of it at the time and now it looks like thats another 10-15 mill wasted, as we will only get £10 mill for him when he leaves. None of those players were / are anywhere good enough, or provide value for money. A club like ours with limited funds just cannot afford to get so many moves in the transfer market wrong. It started with O'Neil and Mcleish and Houllier were little better. Now people are surprised he is cutting back (and even in cutting back Lambert has been given 20 mill plus to spend). I think we need to keep backing him for now. Anyone who can afford it needs to think about trying to get to at least one game in the season run in, to get behind the team and try to keep the faith. As long as the players are giving 100% on the pitch we need to stick with them and show our support. I used to be a season ticket holder but havent been to a game this season. Im going to get myself to two of our remaining home games to show my support. Protests, booing the players, banners demanding Lerner walks are not going to help, and are only going to add to the feeling of doom surrounding the club. I still feel with a little luck, Lambert can turn this around. We all need to pull together now, and leave the anger and recriminations till our fate is decided one way or the other.
  24. agreed with bells on. we need to stick together right now. protests and non stop booing of the players is only going to speed our descent into the abyss. This is the course of action if we are rooted to the bottom miles from safety / actually relegated. While we are in the dog fight (and actually outside the bottom 3 last time i looked) now is not the time. survive this season, then start putting the squeeze on Lerner if things dont radically improve. I still havent given up all hope with lambert either. he took a gamble that hasnt paid off, and he has been quite unlucky with what he inherited, losing petrov etc. I see a few signs theres something there, but im losing faith.
  25. Saw the hobbit at broad streets imax and i was blown away. I was a fan of the trilogy but never managed to get all the way through the book and im no way a tokien worshipper, but it i thought in 3d with the higher frame frate made it look incredible. Sits alongside Avatar as the most impressive film ive seen visualy on the big screen. Imax is worth-it, and certain films seem to have cracked making use of 3d cool and not annoying. As for the film itself, i loved it. I was worried it was going to be too 'light', more children based like the book version of the hobbit is, but the prequel scenese and the various fight scenes were brilliant. I was flinching from thorn spears the 3d was so cool. I didnt have a problem with the 48fps and didnt feel like i needed even a second to adjust, maybe because i play alot of high spec fps games on a gaming pc that shows games going all the way up from 30 to over 100 fps my eyes are already used to adjusting?? who knows. i was always of the opinion that 3d was a pointless gimmick, But after seeing Dredd 3d (very very film, brutual in 3d on imax, very good) and now the Hobbit, im sold. On the bigh screen at least, i still dont think its worthwhile for even the big flatscreen tv's. The new superman trailes looks good. And the showed a 5 min prequel of the new star trek film again in on imax and in 3d which looked incredible. overall, fantastic movie, if anything i thought it was better than the fellowship of the ring. I prefer this trilogys hobbit already, and they somehow seem to have the pacing incredible fast despite only covering the first third of a very small book. Cant wait to see the next one, and i suggest as many as poss expierience it at the imax, i just know it wont be the same at home (though ill no doubt buy the blu ray trilogy when its out)
