  1. Henry, the **** ledge... love how much he loves that club, nice to see in these mercenary driven times.. top finish too, i knew he'd still have goals in him...
  2. Im a level 39 dark elf, whose hobbys include archery, enchanting, swords, and setting people aflame... My pad in whiterun was getting abit lonely so i went to find myself a wife. I met the delightfull Camilla Valerius on a minor mission. I was roped into a 3 way love triangle problem between her and 2 other suiters. I decided to marry her just to annoy the couple of saps fighting over her. I should have known marrying for the wrong reasons would end in tears. I moved her into Breezehome and all was well. She cooked for me, and even made me some cash with the little store she'd set up. Then a while later i come home exhausted after a long adventuring session and i find Faendal (one of the earlier suiters) in my living room with wifey stood next to him looking guilty. He was only there probably there because of a glitch, but needless to say i assumed the worst, struck them both down with my evil soul eating mace. dragged both there bodies in the back room, shut the door, and went to find a new wifey (that huntress with the companions has caught my eye). I love this game. One of the best i have ever played.
  3. unreal result. ive been staying quiet on mcleish. i didnt want him, and havent been particularly impressed so far with his signings or style of play. However after such a period of upheaval, and as long as we stayed at least hovering around mid table, then i was going to support him and give him the summer to work further with the squad. Its good that we slowly seem to be turning a corner. And finally we got a performance from Ireland. He looked better against Arsenal aswell. An AM of his ilk when on form is just what our first 11 has been crying out for. I pray it continues. And Gary Gardner got on the pitch! I want to see what a central 3 of Petrov, Ireland, Gardner looks like over 90 mins. What an epic day. Dirty chelsea scum didnt know what hit them. UTV.
  4. have been banging on for years now to my pal that he is by far the best CB we have, and its been frustrating for us to keep playing Collins ahead of him.. his only downside was his appalling passing. however that seemed to change under Houllier and he even in his odd cameo appearances last season it was noticable how much more comfortable on the ball he seemed.. thank god we now have a manager who sees the light. Dunne and Cuellar is by far our best CB pair. I really dont rate Collins at all, and Clarke although very promising i dont think is ready quite yet to be a starting CB week in week out... long live king carlos!
  5. my all time favourite premier player. will be ace seeing him back in the prem. though i think he will be limited to a couple of cameos anyway. he has already been training with arsenal for a while now, wenger will know if he can still do a job or not.
  6. boardwalk empire season 2 is brilliant, first few episodes are slow but soon hots up we seem to get a major character brutally killed in every single episode so far! Good job this show has lots of big characters.. And as for Jimmys mom.....explains alot!!! you can tell scorsese is producing it, each episode is like a mini epic gangster film...
  7. i made a bad call with my recent purchase i fear my last car was my first, a 2001 focus part ex'd it in for 700 quid and just got a black mk5 golf, 1.6 FSI SE...runs fine, but its not particularly quick off the mark and the 6 speed gear box isnt a good fit..i like the interior and the looks but the focus handled alot better... petrol isnt proving to be cheap, plus i have read many advise to run the FSI engines with super unleaded, which i agree makes a difference with this engine but only adds to the cost... its worth just under 4k, 52k on the clock. im already thinking of trading it in and havent had it 6 months, open to suggestions but probably going to try an astra sxi or try to find a decent a3 within that sort of budget next..
  8. still cant understand why people seem so certain Randys washed his hands with us.. weve had a difficult time recently and so he is keeping a low profile. With the coming fair play rules and the current financial woes he is balancing the books. seems perfectly sensible to me and i dont see any signs he has lost interest, or decided to cut his losses. He has invested massively in a project here, he isnt the sort to do things like this on a whim and sell up as soon as things go bad else he would have flogged the cleveland browns long ago. he's here to stay, and i think we will see continued investment. I think he got his fingers badly burnt with O'Neil and is being alot more cautious now, thats all. im still damn gratefull overall for what he has done for us despite a couple of major cockups. Despite all our recent woes we are still a top 10 side, with a front two worth together about 35-40mill, and yet another crop of exciting prospects coming through (clarke, gardner, bannan). We arent obviously going to get top 4 anytime soon, but cant see any reason we cant still be in the mix with the chasing pack. Its not what we hoped but its a damn sight better than what we had before. I hope he stays and proves the doubters wrong. He isnt being helped by too managers wasting what money we do have on too many crap players (O'Neil on the Heskeys, Sidwells, etc. Houllier with Makoun, Ireland, now Mcleish with Hutton)
  9. has been shite this season. when his finishing is off like it has been, he is next to useless as he offers nothing else. needs to find his shooting boots and fast. yes i feel sorry for him losing the quality supply line he thought he was going to playing with, but he's doing his england chances no good playing like this
  10. the thing with heskey is... yes he cant shoot for toffee and wont get many goals.. but..he gets the occasional goal, his hold up play when on form is among the best in the league, and when he's playing its like having a third centre back for every corner and free kick we have to defend. In fact i reckon he would be a beast of a CB :-) he could be usefull throughout the season, but with him getting on its time to shift him on one way or another end of season.
  11. Heskey has converted me with his performances last season for Houllier. Finally saw what countless managers have been seeing in him. Some of the hold up play I saw from him last year was some of the best ive ever seen. Glad we still have him, and a usefull player to have in the squad. time to get rid at the end of the season though, those wages he is need freeing up for someone else..
  12. wheres this 'mcleish is tactically limited' come from? From what I can see so far he's better at organising a team than Houllier and MON were. Houllier seemed to be abit muddled, and MON seemed to just pick 11 players and tell them to get on with it. Wasnt a fan of the appointment, but the early signs are good. Unbeaten in the league (there hasnt been an easy game in the prem since derby got relegated), good signings made and he is starting to get players I had written off completely playing again. Its been decent so far and i think he has earned enough time for us to get off his back and at least give him some time. we are stuck with him anyway as he isnt going anywhere for the forseeable, so its either give him some time and get behind him, or spend the next 12 months whinging on message boards and staying away from games. i know what id rather do..
  13. Cant say I agree. Arteta is a very good player. Not up to Fabregas's level obviously but alot cheaper and good value at 10 mill and 60k a week. Not as injury prone as i thought either, still played a good number of games last season. I agree though that they needed someone better than this really to push on and replace Nasri & Fabregas. Harsh to call him mediocre though. Andre Santos a joke? Better than Clichy for me (although that isnt hard) Benayoun very good squad filler. Park is well rated by every South Korean i have spoken to (many say he is there best player and has been playing in an absolutely awfull Monaco team) Mertesacker is a 6'6 giant and captain of Germany. Isnt that what Arsenals back four has been crying out for? Height and leadership at the back? Him and Vermarleen will be a very good partnership. And on top of it all they have again turned a hefty profit overall. I would love each and everyone of those players at Villa. Should be enough to keep them in the top 4, cant see them doing any better than that though.
  14. some mind blowingly good games on the horizon... Battlefield 3 is going to be the best FPS of all time. Skyrim looks like its going to follow on impressively from the awesome Oblivion. These 2 alone will keep me busy for a long long time. then theres the others coming up with gears of war 3, uncharted 3, COD, etc. I have just ordered my new pc now partly so that i am ready for BF. It was due an upgrade, but i spent more than i normally would, partly because iw ant to play these 2 babys at full settings at 1900 x 1200 on my large monitor....gaming bliss. to anyone who is interested in pc specs, i went for intel i7 2600k processor, nvidia gtx 570, corsair vengance 8gb 1866 mhz ram, 1 tb western digital caviar hard drive, housed in a corsair obsidian 650D case, powered by a corsair 850w AX850 psu. all pre-overclocked too, so im hoping that can keep me at the top tier of graphics for the next 2-3 years at least Probably should have gotten a GTX 580, but couldnt justify adding another chunk onto the already hefty fee. Going to use the parts from my old one to help me learn how to build my own so that next time i can do it alot cheaper.
  15. dont rate him at all, other that a purple patch when he signed he has been poor and a liability... poor reading of the game, slow, cumbersome, and shockingly poor in the air at times considering thats meant to be his strength... i will be seriously annoyed when Cuellar goes and this useless strip of ginger piss is still in the starting 11...
  16. great expierience for the team. game like this against one of the best teams in the world who look on form and up for it, in sweltering conditions on a shoddy pitch. better games like this to get them prepared than playing against minnows.
  17. Get in. Great player. On the same level as Ash / Downing and has been doing it in weaker teams too. With Given aswell, although the numbers are what we wanted the quality of signings so far has been very pleasing. His stats as shown in this thread are impressive, and he single handedly kept wigan up last season. Wasnt it 5 goals in his last 6 games of ths season? Surrounded by a bunch of pretty poo players. Cant wait to see him and Albrighton on the wings this season. If we could move a couple of players on to free up some wages, and if we could spluge the Ash Young money, with a few astute signings we could be right back into the hunt for 4th-6th. Say if you could move on Beye and Cuellar. Then sign Eboue (to cover RB, LB AND RW, he is a great RB btw and dupposedly available) Parker, and Dann (or Samba if he doesnt go Arsenal). Then with the likes of Bannan etc filling out the squad we would be a force to be reckoned with. I know it wont happen. But it shows why theres reason to be optimistic when you can see it would only take a few clever additions to the squad to be right back where we were. I think once a few more hangers on like Beye are eventually moved on we will see Randy continue to spend in the market. Whether its this summer, January or next year,
  18. arsenal not a top side? Course they are. A constant top 4 prem team and regular in the qtrs, semis or final of the champs league. I agree with the comment on Gibbs. I like the look of him, but he is very raw and injury prone. They surely must have someone lined up to replace Clichy (who has been pretty shite for them for the last 2 years) as even Wenger isnt mad enough to have a single left back going into the season, although Traore is back from loan i believe. I hear apparantly Eboue is available. I would love him here. A very good right back and decent cover for the right wing also, and i believe he can play left back at a push. We could therefore cover 3 vital positions in which we are lacking with a single player. Wenger seems to set sensible prices too when selling players. Chris Samba / Jagielka / Mata and a DM and for me they would possibly have the best squad in the league.....thats assuming Nasri and Fabregas stay. As for Fabgregas, Arsenal arent budging on their 40 mill valuation and rightly so. Look at the market these days and 40 mill for someone so talented, so young and yet so expierienced is a fair price. Nasri will stay and will likely leave on a free next summer unless Arsenal have a really good season.
  19. Douchez, never heard of him but like the name :-) Arsenal still heavily linked with Juan Mata at £15-17 million. What a fecking bargain if true. The boy has skills. Cool article about him here with some good vid clips. So if it comes off, thats Mata signed for a few million less than Stewart Downing...crazy times Mata skill. Arsenal are now just Chris Samba and a good DM backup for Song away from being title contenders again.... As for City, well i bet a few top clubs are starting to shit themselves, particularly Liverpool who look like they might not get back in the champs league spots anytime soon. Aguero is top notch. An absolutely lethal striker who is very creative aswell. Not long ago City were splashing serious money but were spending it on overpaid overhyped players who were never going to be good enough for someone who wants to be the best team in the world. Now they are signing some of the best players in the world with no signs of slowing down. For me though they still lack world class defenders, or a goalkeeper for that matter. They also need a truly world class CM to play alongside Toure. Once they get that, and improve the back 4 (which i expect to be done by this time next year) they will be ready for a title shot. Its sickening how they have gone about signing strikers though and puts it into perspective how hard it is to compete with them. Was it 30 mill on Jo and RSC? When they didnt work out no dramas just spend another 30 mill on Robinho. Not working out either? Oh well lets just get Tevez, and add Dzeko while you are at it. Now Tevez wants to leave, and they dont even need to wait to sell him before spending 40 odd mill on his replacement. I thought Chelsea were bad but City are in another league entirely. Its sickening but fascinating at the same time. And if anything it can onlt accelerate the demands for changes to the way clubs operate financially.
  20. breaking bad back tonight! cant wait.. any fans see this, quite amusing vids http://www.bettercallsaul.com/
  21. General I hope you and your family are well. I would just like to say that as someone who will support the current board and the new manager (at least for the next 12 months) i am deeply worried by the way we seem to be going about our buisness. I have no doubt that Randy has nothing but good intentions for Aston Villa. Unfortunately it seems he is being advised very very poorly by the people he has chosen to have around him. I think you will be shocked at how low our attendences are going to be next season. We have just had a relegation battle, lost our best player, seem about to lose our next best player, have just signed a manager not a single fan wanted at the club, and all this in the midst of a financial crisis which is still hitting the everyday bloke very hard indeed. It seems commerical suicide to do what we have done recently, and no-one can understand the thinking behind it. Randy im afraid to say is listening to the wrong people it seems and has undone all the good faith he has built up. I will back the new manager 100% as he deserves a chance. Unfortunately i will be doing it from home as i havent renewed my season ticket. Thats not my own choice though, as the pal i go along with doesnt want to renew, partly because of money worries, and partly due to Mcleish. Im not going to travel to and sit at games on my own so i havent renewed either. From asking around it seems i am but one of many who wont be renewing, backed up it seems by the constant almost desperate calls i seem to be getting from the ticket office asking if i will be renewing. I think Randy and yourself have misjudged the feelings of the average football fan these days. The majority of fans who dont support a Man Utd or a Chelsea are rapidly losing love for the game and are no longer prepared to shell out the ridiculous sums needed to follow your team these days. To make a decision like Randy has in signing Mcleish, at a time like this, seems utter madness, an own goal on the commerical side and deserves some sort of explanation? I was genuinely shocked to see no sign of Randy at the Mcleish press conference. He should have been there, sitting next to the man he has brought to the club, and explaining his thinking to the fans. Instead he has hidden away. And im afraid it now just looks to the fans like he hides away so he doesnt get put on the spot and asked difficult questions. It was a poor show from Randy and its lowered my opinion of him. Im aware he likes to stay in the background and not be talking to the press every 5 minutes, but he seems to have taken it to the extreme, and it isnt reflecting well on him at all. For us to get to where we want to be we need to be super sharp when it comes to transfers, player contracts etc. We need to maxmise every single pound we have. We need to combine a great youth set up, with a well respected managerial setup that can identify and sign young inexpensive talent from all corners of the globe. I dont feel we have that with Mcleish, and from what I understand our scouting system is an absolute joke compared to nearly every other club in the premier league. We seem naive and sloppy when it comes to negotiating contracts or dealing with other clubs. Basically the whole operation just seems very amateurish currently when viewed from the outside looking in. That may be a poor and unfair description, but its the image that the board are currently projecting to the fans. The image i have is of Randy delegating the buisness side to Mr Faulkner, the playing side to Mcleish and then sitting back and letting them get on with it, while taking advice on big decision from the likes of Graham Taylor who has been out of touch with the modern game for almost 20 years now. Its seems almost like he doesnt want the responsibilty, and it worrys me that the future of our club is currently in the hands of a CEO and manager who have done little to warrant such complete faith in their abilitys and complete trust and backing to run things as they see fit. We need him to be more hands on, and get better advisors on board. Unfortunately it seems to be going in the opposite direction. Anyway enough of my rambling, id like to ask 1. How worried are you at the likely drop in attendances next season? And how are the season ticket renewals stacking up so far compared to average 2. Do you agree that the fans have a right to expect some sort of communication from Randy, particularly after the nightmare 12 months we have just had. Can you appreciate why his current approach of avoiding the fans and press altogether is being interpreted by some fans as either a lack of balls, or he simply isnt bothered what we think? Can you understand why some of the stories coming out of Villa Park (as an example, the turnaround on Steve McClarens interview due to fan pressure then the signing of McCleish) have got the fans completely baffled? 3. Do you agree that having a world class & world wide scouting system is essential to us having any form of success, do you agree it has been an area that needs massive improvement under the new manager? 4. Is or has Randy looked for people to come in and invest in the club as a partner, or thought about the club to be re-floated on the stock exchange? What plans do we have to increase the revenue or the financial muscle we have behind us to compete with the best in the league. I hope this post doesnt come across as too harsh as i have alot of respect for what Randy has done for the club on the whole. But its just the current strategy seems very reactive and his line of thinking isnt clear at all (i.e the stated need to urgently cut costs, O'Neil walking out over supposed lack of funds and then the signing of a 24 million pound striker?) and is giving the impression of Randy being either very badly advised, or very unsure on how to take the club any further.
  22. i like him. always looked solid in the few chances he has had. Leeds forums rave about him. Deserves a shot.
  23. Have people seen the trailers for this bad boy of a game? I was surprised i couldnt find a recent thread about either game? I see people on other threads doubting it will sell even a quater of modern warfares totals. I think this time round they might be surpised. I buy most my FPS's for my gaming pc except for the call of dutys for varied reasons. So i barely played bc2 as i was enjoying black ops so much. Started it recently and i cant believe what i have been missing out on. It is fricking superb! The huge maps and vehicles are such a nice change of pace from COD. And for the price of a COD map pack you get an expansion pack which is basically another full game and a bloody great one at that! Battles feel that much more epic. Some of the best bf2 games ive had i havent got a single kill. Instead i have been driving jeeps on crazy flanking suicide races dodging enemy helicopter and tanks that would take out our whole 4 man suad with a single shot. Or following our Abrams tanks to the front line, manning the 50 cal and hiding behind it doing repairs as the engineer class keeping the tank arrive. Or running round as a medic with my de-fibulators bringinhg team mates back to life. Ort laser targetting enemy tanks, while trying to hide within a house slowly being blown apart around me. I think anyone who has played both with agree although both excellent games, bf2 shades it. I think the gap will be even wider this time round. The new frost bite engine looks seansational. Whereas COD will be running on the same engine as the last how many games, and will not doubt be pretty much the same game barring a twist or two. I'll likely get both, but was wondering how many here are going for bf 3 instead?
  24. im backing the board all the way still.. he is nowhere near my first choice, would be a strange and risky appointment for sure.... but Randy has earnt the benefit of the doubt with what he has done for us as a club so far and if he is convinced Mcleish is the man to take us forward then he has my backing still for the time being....
  25. fine statement. basically he says we see him as a possible candidate for the job, along with the other irons we have in the fire. the recruitment process was always gone to be done via interview process, as it was for Houllier. Still far from certain he will get the job, but if he did i wouldnt be against it. I somewhat rate Mcleish. Dann and Johnson are top notch, if he can sign us a couple of CB's like that ill be happy. The shite he has had to put up with behind the scenes, a la Brady and her Sun column, or Pannu and antics as described by the LMA earlier today are not going to help, yet still won them a trophy. No where near first choice and its going to cause problems with the fans but for the sake of the club id back him 100 %. Lerners put in enough dosh and helped us enough so far to deserve the benefit of the doubt on this one. If it doesnt work out though he could be in trouble, I still think Moyes is first, then its either McLeish or some wildcard we havent been linked with yet, all interviewed before being offered the job.
