  1. Yep! Every single VAR check should be the booth telling the on-field ref to have another look. He gets to see a replay twice from each relevant angle at full speed, and then gets to decide whether he changes his own decision. Simple. Including offsides, for which there should be no lines drawn. If you can't tell it's offside from a single replay, it's not offside.
  2. This is basically how the Australian football works. You'll only have a couple of games crossover across the weekend, with games starting from Thursday night to Sunday evening. I know midweek European games might make this slightly harder but I don't see any issues with more kickoff times. Just allows us all to watch more football.
  3. I'd like how players speak to the ref to be handled basically just like Rugby. Only the captain and they address him with respect or they get yellows. But my 2 rules changes would be: 1. Scrap all the silliness about whether a player is "in play" or not. If you're within 30m of the ball, you're offside. 2. Penalties should be like those MLS penalties from the 90s where you start 35 yards out and have 5 seconds to shoot, but you can dribble first.
  4. I've been a supporter since just after McGrath's era and started to be able to properly follow us in the mid 2000s when the internet and increased coverage made it feasible to do so. Grealish is our best player in that time. You could make an argument for Martinez, but goalkeepers are a different category. I think the only other outfield player in the conversation is Benteke, maybe Young.
  5. Signing his mate Diaby seems to have really pushed him on this year. They clearly love playing together and we're getting some excellent performances from them both.
  6. Brilliant to see him in such a good run of form after a tough loan spell last year. Some really nice finishing
  7. Such a great striker's goal. Controlled it and then shot from an awkward angle and almost burned a hole through the back of the net. Not just that, but his introduction changed the game, gave us a lot more energy. He deserves every bit of the praise he's getting. We have some absolutely incredible options off the bench. With Emi and Ramsey injured we're still able to bring on the likes of Bailey and Duran to change up our attack
  8. I thought it was definitely a pen. Ollie gets a little touch on it, gets collected and the the ball gets swept away. I don't think the touches the ball before the foul. Massive character building win. We kept going, and Duran coming on with his high energy changed the game.
  9. I bought a Nathan Delfouneso shirt and I was convinced he was going to become a great striker for us when he was banging in goals for England underage sides. He was about as good a lesson as any player ever that underage ability does not necessarily translate into first team ability.
  10. Beyond parody that Henderson, Maguire and Phillips are getting picked.
  11. The away kit looked great on broadcast and great in the photos of the game. I know it's just white, but it's easily the best of the 3. I'll be getting that one I think
  12. He was fine. He's not Emi but not many players are.
  13. Feels like we've barely scratched the surface of our attacking potential. Diaby has settled so well and Zaniolo looks a player! I think the only thing that stopped us from getting a 4th goal was a little bit of hunger when we'd have unlocked them fairly trivially if we kept moving the ball around. You have to be happy with a 2 goal away win.
  14. Digne has really made that leftback position a battle in the early stages of this season. Assured in defence and very strong going forward.
  15. There is something absolutely magic about that celebration. Imagine having conceded and it's that barge arse Scottish meatball who has no right to be as good as he is and he's running to the corner flag with his hands upside down over his face to make a superhero mask. It's arguably the most joyous thing in football.
  16. ****. Looked to be in some good form, we'll miss him badly this season.
  17. We absolutely didn't need to go crazy. Our points per game under Emery was excellent. The squad chemistry was good. We just needed a few signings to mix in with what we're already doing. We didn't need to change half the first team and stutter as we're trying to bed everyone in. I'd argue we've spent our money very, very well. Tielemans was on a free.
  18. I really like the away. The lion mashup is a cool idea well executed and gives some visual interest to a clean white kit. I don't think much of the home but I'll get the away
  19. Really happy for him, he was a great professional while here and it's great he's getting a feelgood move to a club who has embraced him. Gotta be happy for him.
  20. Everything looks so positive about this getting done but then the other half of football twitter has him all but confirmed to Al Nassr. Let's see him holding a shirt up. Massive signing if we can get it done.
  21. Yep, he's absolutely got several years left at a CL club in him if he wants it. If Man United hadn't been so shit over the last decade he'd have a much better reputation. He's an excellent keeper.
  22. Yep, he has that sort of natural positioning and finishing that you can't really teach. It's not something that will disappear at Premier League level, he scores wherever he plays. With the way we play under Emery, keeping composed and sliding the ball around the box, having someone in there who gets in position and buries chances will be very valuable. I think it would be absolutely insane to sell him unless we get silly money. He'll be worth twice as much in 12 months, then twice as much as that 12 months later, and we've got him on a long contract.
  23. I don't think you change it for no reason. McGinn was a terrific captain and was in the form of his life under Unai, very happy for him to keep the armband and hand it to Mings or Martinez when he's off the pitch.
  24. I guess the 2005 Ashes side will be handing back their MBEs for ball tampering the entire series? It's different when England do it though, isn't it?
  25. Agree, Ashes series are always good but this one is particularly good. Both games have been seesawing, right down to the wire affairs and there's a lot of feeling in it. While i'm not a huge fan as a spectator of this new strategy of bouncing out opponents instead of pitching it up, this is as good as cricket gets as a contest.
