  1. So we paid 8M for a Keeper and only signed a 2 year deal with him? Doesn't look like astute business. At least his wages will come off of our books.
  2. If this season we had the Luiz that we saw during project restart we would be challenging for Europe right now. He's been quite mediocre this season.
  3. Can we modify the club name to Royal Aston Villa?
  4. This is where Smith also needs to rotate players to ensure a healthy squad dynamic. You can't just have Freddy always on the bench and play Cash all 38 matches (bar suspensions). Need to find around 10-12 (25-30%) PL matches for him to play.
  5. I see that he is 20 years old. Probably a good strategy to have a few older players to help solidify the U23 team. You don't want 11 talented U18's overrun each match and losing their confidence.
  6. It's essentially an arms race between clubs and we needed this just to be competitive. For example, Leicester has an amazing complex that just opened too.
  7. Will be the best PL season we've had since the ONeill days.
  8. It's also about having a buyer. Who is paying 60-70M for him?
  9. Would be quite annoyed if I were an Everton supporter. Seems as though they just thought they needed to show-up to get 3 points.
  10. With the seditious six and Leicester, that's 7 clubs that on paper will be equal or better than us. Therefore, realistically hard to expect anything more than a Top 10 finish.
  11. Grealish on another level. Rappers and gamers already celebrating him.
  12. The accounts are a reality check that there is a massive gap between us and the seditious six and that we are no closer to them than any of the other 14 clubs in the division. My lingering worry is that our owners will one day come to the conclusion, similar to Lerner, that the PL is just a bottomless money sucking pit.
  13. Surely he is good enough for the first team
  14. Kids look like 1970s Brazil. Their passing abilities better than the first team.
  15. Probably a non starter, but as punishment I'd like to see all broadcast revenues (domestic + international) plus all UEFA Champions League and Europa League income earned by English clubs to be distributed evenly amongst all 20 PL clubs. You see this with the American college conferences, where prize money earned by member institutions in NCAA tournaments are split evenly amongst all the colleges belonging to the conference. Yes, the top clubs will lose a lot of money, but at the same time there will be less of a revenue variable if they fail to qualify for the UCL - which is a major issue for many of them.
  16. Felt like a match in The Championship The two goals we gave-up were unfortunate. Thought Emi, Targett, El Gazi and Davis were great. Barkley was decent.
  17. The 12 clubs have zero leverage now. Hopefully UEFA do backtrack - especially on the 2 places reserved for the clubs with the highest coefficient ranking.
  18. Took 15 years of sustained success (i.e. consistent top 6 finishes) for Spurs to get where they are. We still have a long way to go.
  19. We dont have midfielders that can pass the ball.
  20. Player sales might account for part of this, but overall revenues in the PL are pretty much the same between all the non "Big 6" clubs.
  21. European football has three massive differences to North American leagues - relegation, Champions League money, and lack of a salary cap - one of those three will throw a monkey wrench into any ambitious owners' plans. That's what I believe happened in the case of Randy Lerner. He quickly realized that without Champions League football he could not compete without constantly bankrolling the club, something the likes of Chelsea and City were prepared to do. I believe breaking into the UCL in the next 3-5 years will be crucial to keep our owners enthusiastic about this project.
  22. Got this chart from a Price of Football tweet. Other than the top 6 clubs, seems clubs revenues basically corelate to their league position. Shows we have quite the challenge in trying to break-away from the other 14 PL clubs. It will probably require quite a few years of sustained success that positions us to attract bigger commercial partners. Have to give Spurs credit - they were able to bridge that divide.
