  1. Don't quite get playing a high line, but then failing to press the other team. Isn't that just a recipe for disaster? Would love to be educated on how this tactic is supposed to work.
  2. The types of things Madueke did tonight is what I was kind of expecting from Diaby. Looks like Emery sees him in a different role.
  3. This really seems to be on Emery, opposed to the players. You can't let them come at you and also hold a high line. You either need to sit back and play a low block or press and play a highline.
  4. Our lack of press is really suicidal. We're just letting Chelsea attack in waves. Really hope Emery changes things around in the 2nd half.
  5. Not sure if this has been posted, but linked is some brand development Dragon Rouge agency did for Southampton. They were the same agency that developed the round "Purslow" badge. Quite like what they did for Southampton and makes me feel that they were really hamstrung by a very rigid brief from the Villa management.
  6. That’s not a good example mate. Maybe something more like —> I trust my wife’s decision to send the kids to private school, but I feel the public schools are just as good. So Monchi and Emery will never get a signing wrong?
  7. Emery deserves our trust but that should not mean we can’t form our own opinions. From the times Ive seen him, to the comparisons with JPB (including the asking price), and the opinions of some Championship experts, it’s just not adding up for me. also a bit perplexed why we did not use Finn Azaz as leverage to get this deal over the line.
  8. Not sure how anyone can label a player Napoli is willing to pay EUR 10M for and is a Belgian international as trash.
  9. If you do the math, it really has to be a monumental collapse for us not to finish in the top 5 spots. Seeing the West Ham and Brighton results this week, does not look like anyone from the pack is going to make a strong 2nd half charge either.
  10. Feels to me like adding additional capacity of 2,000 or so seats will be a complex undertaking that will still cost millions. Might as well go all the way instead of settling for a half-baked solution.
  11. His PL level salary is probably baked into the fairly low transfer fee.
  12. Furthermore, Aaron Ramsey had better stats last year at Boro. This link is a head scratcher for me.
  13. Emery telling Monchi “Bring him to me, Ill turn him into a player”. maybe he’ll get some chances in Europe and the FA Cup, while Cash primarily plays PL matches and Konsa goes back to CB where Diego Carlos has been a bit of a liability.
  14. I think most of us do. That’s exactly why so many are stunned by how poorly designed the leaked badge is. It literally beggars belief. Pete from the Holy Trinity podcast put out a whole episode about how no way the leaked badge is real. Unfortunately, looks like it is - or a close variation of it.
  15. It's ridiculous. He's taken this club for a ride. That very inflated transfer fee we paid for him still really irks me.
  16. The 1 point keeps us ahead of Spurs after this round. That’s how we need to look at things here on out.
  17. Can’t keep saying “we miss X player”. We have a squad of quality players. They have to set it up against the likes of Everton.
  18. His previous posts were mocking fans that were upset about the consultation process, so he does not seem to be some neutral observer. The badge certainly looks much better than what was initially leaked, but as others have said - not sure if it will have a similar appearance on social media, etc.
  19. Presuming this is a proper apparel sponsorship deal, do we believe it would have happened without Sawiris being our owner?
  20. We have not yet developed a 2nd gear to counter the low block. Need to pick up the pace of ball movement to get the opponent out of their shell.
  21. Get Project B6 to make a tifo for the Newcastle game
  22. Heck's design is not about taste. The design is fundamentally flawed (as was the original Lerner badge). That's what has so many fans aghast.
  23. Anyone championing finishing at least in fourth place as a priority to winning the FA Cup should have no issues with plastic fans.
  24. or it could be like the Gerrard/ Emery situation where NS felt he needed to step in given the Castore debacle and seeing that he finally had a strong hand to play based on Villa’s on the field performance and star power (Emery, Martinez, Lehman..)
