  1. The fact that the old thread has closed (it has hasn't it) ?
  2. I guess it also depends on the age you are. If early twenties, then you still have lots to learn - by mid 30's, you know more or less what you like/don't like and therefore will not waste your time getting to know someone you basically have nothing in common with. Has your mate has other relationships - If so, how long did these last. Anyway, in answer to your question - 4 months seems very keen indeed, but if he believes this is the women for him, then so be it.
  3. My commute (Great Barr to Birmingham City Centre) measures at 6.94 miles. As it's above 5 miles, I've selected the next option - That being under 10 miles. Morning journey in is easy, as leave the house around 6.40am and sitting at my desk reading VT before 7am. Getting home is a little more difficult, as leave around 4.20pm, and arrive home just before 5pm
  4. Bollox! You beardy bastard. To be fair, Rob does speak sense with this one.
  5. Shit - two nights in The Bellagio, followed by a suite at The Venetian - talk about holidaying in style. I assume you have looked at where the hotels are situated on The Strip ? Prime position these two are, as more or less in the middle part of the Strip (with Mandalay Bay at the top, and Treasure Island at the bottom). The main hotels would offer free lessons for most of the games (but most of these are during the day) - I guess it depends on how much you want to gamble. I've never bothered with the poker tables myself, tend to stick to Black Jack, and then one or two slots and the big wheel of fortune. For travelling, Vegas has now built a fair number of moving walkways (escalators) which assist you as you walk up and down the Strip. Several hotels will also offer free bus rides to other hotels within their chain (but not sure if Bellagio and Venetian are signed up to this) The Deuce (bus service) runs the entire length of The Strip and you can get a one way ticket for around $3 or a 24 hour pass for $5. Only problem is that is can take up to 2 hours to run from The Strat up to say The Luxor as the traffic is heavy and you tend to stay at each stop. Depends on what the deciding factor is - time or money. Taxi's to be honest aren't too expensive, they avoid the Strip (due to traffic) and would charge around $25 dollars from Freemont Street to Mandalay Bay (more or less top to bottom). Enough room for 4 people, so around $6 per person. Freemont Street (old Vegas) is perhaps one of the better places for cheaper buffet meals, but as I mentioned earlier, try The Bellagio buffet - you won't be disappointed. Other hotels/casinos will advertise their buffet deals on the big neon signs along The Strip, as well as numerous leaflets you will get handed. Again, depends on what you want to eat, as you can get your normal fries and burgers from the likes of McDonalds, Nathan's which are along The Strip and also situated in many of the hotels. If you don't fancy the rides on top of The Strat - You can still go to the top for the view, whilst your good lady wife contemplates the rides. If however it's a little windy, perhaps give it a miss, as the rides will probably be closed. Spend at least one evening down in old town Vegas (Freemont Street) plenty to see and do (they have a light show each night from 7pm) as well as live street bands, and cheap cocktails/beers on sale. Don't forget, there's also other things apart from gambling you can do. Got to one of the gun stores and shoot some guns, karting is also popular and there are numerous places that provide this. I'm going to stop now, as getting carried away, and really need to crack on with some work.

    Florida (Disney)

Went to Florida in May with the family. There were 12 of us in total (8 adults and 4 children) so decided on a Villa just off the 192. For the fortnight, paid £2,300 which was extremely good based on the 6 bedrooms and all the facilities we had. Flight was from Manchester with Thomas Cook, and with 2 x 7 seater car, cost £599 per person. There are bargains to be found, especially if you book the flight and villa/hotel yourself (rather then a travel agent). The Disney hotels certainly add to the experience, but you end up paying a hell of a lot on food (unless you decide on Disney Dining - which of course is an extra add on to the initial price). Yes, the Disney hotels are nice, and the All Star resorts offer 'the cheapest accomodation - but it is still very expensive. As TamWilla80 said, it's not just Disney, you have the two Universal Parks, Seaworld as well as Discovery Cove to consider and even Busch Gardens if you want to travel further. Disney offer a variety of tickets - Ultimate, Hopper, Magic Your Way - So it's important you plan which parks you want to visit, and how many times you are looking to go. For example, the Ultimate allows you into any park numerous times a day and covers either the 7, 14 or 21 days. The Hopper would just cover the 4 main Disney Parks (so excludes the water parks and Disney Quest) and enables you to visit more then one park a day. The Magic Your Way is the cheapest, but also limits the number of visits. Then theres the Orlando Flex Ticket - which covers the Universal/Seaworld/Busch Gardens parks. You are probably looking at least £200 for your Disney ticket, and around £120 for your Orlando Flex and that is per person - but obviously depends on what type of ticket you decide. Then of course you have all the problems of should you do character dining at Disney, should you book this tour or that tour. There is so much variety to add to your 'basic' Florida holiday it is unbelievable. I starting planning our holiday about a year in advance, as most of the dining etc need to be booked 180 days in advance to secure your bookings. If you imagine that over 13 million people visit Magic Kingdom alone each year, you understand why you have to pre-book your dining experience so far in advance. Bully - I could talk for ages about Florida (I'm kind of a freak when it comes to Florida and Vegas - I just love America). The best tip I could perhaps give you is check out this web-site - The Dibb It has guides, maps and lots and lots of information about Disney and Florida in general, and also is a forum, whereby you can ask your questions and get a variety of answers. I hate to admit it, but I spend just as much time on there, as I do here. Feel free to PM me if you want any more details.
  7. The buffet is also one of the best (and also extremely popular) so if you do fancy it make sure you get in early, or are prepared to wait. If I remember correctly it's around $28 for the evening buffet - but with lobster, crab and prime steak on offer, it's money well spent
  8. Back with some more details now :- Ceasars Palace - Great to walk through the forum shops. Also catch the Fall of Atlantis and Festival Fountains (which are free). Excalibur - Slightly tacky, albeit one of the only strip casino's to offer $5 Black Jack. They also have cheap fairground stalls and a variety of motion rides. Mandalay Bay - Well worth checking out the pool area (probably the best pool in Vegas) and also the Shark Reef ($17). The Venetian - Fantastic looking hotel, which of course offers gondola rides ($16). Worth walking around to enjoy the sights. Circus Circus - Bottom end of Strip, but it houses the Adventuredome - which has around 4/5 rides. Paris - The cocktail girls are the best looking in here. Also, the change to go up the Eiffel Tower (around $12) The Rio - Slightly off the Strip, but well worth a visit for the 'Show in the Sky' (every hour from 7pm - midnight Thurs thru to Sunday). The Rio also has The Voodoo Lounge which is a nightclub giving fantastic views of the strip. The Stratosphere - A must quite frankly to ride THE BIG SHOT. They have other rides there as well, and I believe a new parachute kind of ride which looks bloody scary. The Wynn - Bloody lovely to go in and explore. There are still plenty of hotels/casinos I haven't mentioned - Casino Royale (opposite The Mirage) tends to sell beer for $1.99 and has pretty good gaming machines - but part of Vegas is checking out the big, bold and brass hotels - not just the gambling. Off course there is the Canyon to go and explore. How you get there is dependant on your budget and time. A helicopter ride is probably the best experience and takes around 4 hours (costs anywhere around $250). You could go via coach or small plane - but whilst cheaper, takes longer and of course you don't actually land in the rim of the Canyon. Sadly, I can't recommend any 'gentlemen's' establishments as I've always had my wife with me on my visits and would imagine she wouldn't be too happy about me visiting one.
  9. Freemont Street is by far the best value for drinks - mad cocktail mixes for $7 from a casino called Mermaids. There is such a lot to do for free as many hotels (along the strip) will try to entice you in. Worth looking round most of the big hotel/casinos and the themes they have. The Welcome to Las Vegas sign (about a mile up from Mandalay Bay Luxor - pretty tidy inside, so worth a look. MGM - You get to see the Lions New York New York - Well, this may not appeal to you, seeing as it's your home town, but may as well give a go. Whilst not free, the rollercoaster in NYNY is well worth it. The new City Center complex is now fully constructed (it wasn't when I went last year) - and I hear it's pretty impressive - Go take a look. Bellagio - Probably one of the finest looking hotels (inside and out). Well worth exploring and of course watching the fountains. Planet Hollywood - Go into 'Dessert Passage' and watch the thunderstorm The Mirage - The inside waterfall, the white tigers, the dolphins and of course the Volcano Treasure Island - The Sirens of T.I show The loads more, so I'll be back later
  10. Thought he played well on Saturday - Unlucky he didn't put his chance away, and made some good runs during the first half. Liked what I saw and hopefully he can press on to become the player we know he can become.
  11. Isn't he doubtful with an injury for tonights game ?
  12. Voted Nike - Always liked Nike products and liked the kits they have produced for us. Granted they have well and truly fcuked up this time around, but still like having the white tick on my shirt.
  13. Luke commented after the Valencia game that he did in fact love the club, but didn't seem to see eye to eye with the gaffer. When asked if he was staying, he said he hoped so, but also suggested the issues would need to be resolved. I'll say that seeing the main issue has now 'gone away', Luke will be more then happy to remain at Villa Park
  14. Liverpool. Always have, and always will hate this **** cheating club.
  15. Coming into work Monday morning and VT being the first thing I log onto.
  16. A little worrying considering the game has been moved to Sunday 29th August
  17. Martin spent the entire first half against Valencia talking with Capello - Maybe they were discussing a role swap ?
  18. The occasional trim downstairs (purely to keep it looking nice). Would never dream of chest and armpits !!
  19. I see you timed this as the series of 24 has now finished Wainy. Best of luck fella, and remember to keep in touch with us all.
  20. We had Sir Bob back then. The best we can muster these days is Harry **** Redknapp. Excellent programme last night - And it just goes to show how far football has fallen in the last 20 years. As for falling out of love of football - I would say I have. It's no longer a thrill to watch games, more of a chore these days. Wasn't excited about the world cup, nor this seasons fixture list. I had put it down to more important things in life, like my family and health, but seems others are also feeling the same way
