Isn't he supposed to be a bit moody though? Maybe he was in a strop because he had to play against lower league opposition? That obviously doesn't excuse it but might shed some light on his less than convincing performance.

He's showing a lot more than he did last season already - we just got glimpses before but he's definitely growing into a good player, indeed. Just needs a goal now.

Really good to hear that he picked up in this game - seems to be a real talent, so hopefully he'll come good for us soon.

It's a real shame that he didn't impress. He has a lot of work to do to settle in and get up to speed.

Is anyone? The style of play is clearly different, the lack of chances and shots on goal is eerily familiar though.

As soon as he gets the ball, our players need to react quickly and get into the box - Traore seems to have a knack of getting it in there, we just need to capitalise on it as much as possible.

I'm hoping that Sherwood doesn't turn out to be as stubborn as Lambert but this is something that remains to be seen. As I've said before, I want to wait until January to make a more informed decision.

Just to compare Westwood and Gana defensively: Gana is averaging 5 tackles, 3 interceptions per game. Westwood is on 1.7 and 0.7 Offensively: Westwood has 1 assist, Gana 0. Passing is virtually the same in terms of completion but obviously Westwood is looking to create more chances. Gana's definitely pulling his weight in terms of what his job is in the team, you might argue that Westwood hasn't quite done enough to escape criticism. I've kind of come to the conclusion that Westwood's biggest issue is that he isn't influential enough - he has patches of it and sometimes games where he makes his mark but most of the time he isn't. Definitely something to work on but a hard thing to develop/improve.

Could do with a big win here, lots of goals to boost our attacking confidence.

Abdennour seems like a long shot, given the price tag and the other clubs he has been linked to (not Newcastle obviously). Looks to be very fast for a CB, strong too.

I'm neither pro nor anti Sherwood, soI think these would be valid comments if it were January but as it is, it's way too early to form conclusions. The new lads obviously need time to settle and he needs to find his best team, which will take a bit of time.

In fairness, a lot of them haven't signed as many people as we have and/or saw their old spine of the team leave. Just for a change, we're in a transition period.

I find this post staggering when you are defending Clark's defending on the first goal. I wasn't defending him ffs. Stop making things up. Our best defender yesterday. You've clearly decided you don't like him at CB and nothing will change that. Good performances at CB will change that.

Oh OK, just saw your previous post going in to it in more detail. I wouldn't say so, no (RE: Clark not being strong enough to be a CB) - he's up to the challenge against most attackers he faces, strength-wise.

Let's put it this way if the roles were reversed could you see Clark getting the same header in with Dann marking him? No because Dann is a lot stronger than Clark - that's the point. If someone is naturally stronger or faster than you, it's very hard to compete with them. Perhaps the coaching staff should have identified this and put somebody more suitable on Dann, like Richards.
