He's shown it in his career though, just in a different league. What else does Westwood do besides pass though? I'm talking about your basic skills here - he's not good at tackling, he doesn't read the game that well for interceptions, his set pieces are poor and his shooting isn't that great. Starting off attacks really isn't that outstanding a feature - he can pick a pass but then so can lots of players. He really isn't that special a player.

No worries then - FWIW I hope he works out there but as I've said, I just don't think he will.

"If it wasn't Richards you wouldn't mind." - that is childish. I've made it clear that I don't have anything against him personally and that I think he has some very good footballing attributes, just IMO is clearly out of place at CB.

If Sherwood stopped playing a good RB at CB, we wouldn't have to choose between 'good going forward' and 'solid defensively' because the aforementioned player could probably do both well.

I think 'a lot' is a bit harsh - sometimes, perhaps. Even still, his job is to tackle, intercept and keep things ticking over and I think he does all three of these things well.

Gana destroys/intercepts, Veretout scores/creates chances, Westwood... passes? I think Sherwood is trying to get him to add an extra dimension to his game and get him to push forward, hence playing him with Sanchez and giving him some freedom from defensive responsibilities. The problem is, we already seem to have a player in Veretout that can do that better... so I think his time may be limited.

He makes a lot more mistakes than they ever did - you need someone who makes as few mistakes as possible at CB.

If it wasn't Richards you wouldn't mind. Shame, he's been top draw. I don't care who he is - I have nothing personally against the guy. Now that we've cleared that up, can your next post not be so childish and actually get to the point at hand. 'He's been top draw (sic)' doesn't exactly offer much to the debate.

' I'm not disputing his good points - I agree you with you re: 'Incredibly powerful, quick, senses danger, a beast when he marauds forwards.' But it's sacrilegious to put his name anywhere near those guys. Of course they made mistakes but they were far better CBs than Richards, it's not even close.

Am I really the only one who doesn't want a CB that makes runs into attacking midfield/up front? IMO CBs should not be highlights reel players and they shouldn't need to be last ditch - they should be dependable, consistent and calm.

We aren't going to stop conceding goals any time soon - the collective experience of our Clark and Richards combined is roughly 150 games. That's not enough IMO and as Clark, playing next to someone who doesn't know where to put themselves half the time, doesn't mark very well and goes haring off up the pitch like a madman without a moment's notice, I wouldn't be feeling confident and settled at all. If you're going to reply with something like 'You have a vendetta against Richards', can you just post a response to the criticisms of him and how you think I'm wrong about that instead? It's getting boring.

Managers live and die by results, we all know that. Today was a bad result and he needs to step it up because we can't afford to pass up points like this, not after the last 4 years or so.

I really hope this is true - maybe Sherwood has come to his senses re: Senderos.

I'd disagree with that - he just hasn't looked very good since signing. We signed a lot of unknown quantities this summer, seeing as the vast majority of the fan base don't watch Ligue 1 or the segunda in Spain, we mainly just had youtube to go on.

If Traore keeps doing what he can with the balls into the box - Kozak will finish them, I'm quite sure of that.

He's a joy to watch. Could actually be our best player at the moment.

Jack's really coming along as a player now - just needs to work on his shooting. I think the reason he doesn't take so many shots is that he knows it's not really a strong area of his at the moment.

I think you're missing out the other end of the spectrum, which seems to be populated by people who take offence to anything remotely negative that is levelled at him. I'm on the fence RE: Sherwood. I don't hate him and I don't want him to fail - It's pretty tiring being told that I'm a hater, when I'm not.
