  1. Saying that Geki, Kozak managed to score goals in Sherwood's teams in the preseason.
  2. That's not Sanchez's job though - a lazy comparison, if you ask me.
  3. If it had been cheeky banter it would have been very funny and very much in line with his usual quite entertaining interviews, but he was serious, and that was what made me cringe. What makes me cringe is when he says things like 'I ain't never'. It's just... horrible.
  4. And that's what we've seen so far. One of our next big signings basically needs to be the RB version of Amavi.
  5. We knew what we were getting when we signed him - you look at the goals he scored for Blackburn last season - he scores from close range, or gets a header in. He's not a classy player, he's a big goalscoring target man - not a creative twinkle-toes, not a speed merchant, not a subtle player with great movement. He's a big bugger who gets on the end of crosses and can thump in a loose ball. We play to his strengths, he'll score us goals, I reckon. There's not much you can do as a defender if somebody can physically dominate you.
  6. The old adage is that 'actions speak louder than words' - so as I said, what he does on the pitch seems to tell me more than a presser.
  7. I find it odd how important some people find post-match interviews from the managers we've had. I guess that's because I'm more concerned about what I'm seeing on the pitch than a soundbite or an excuse - Lambert used to always come under fire because he wasn't a media personality and Sherwood seems to have some supporters because of his 'cheeky banter' demeanour. I just don't get why it's important.
  8. I seem to remember they really should have scored in the first half as well - put it low and wide of the post. Even so, I really think we should be looking to judge this guy against premier league quality attackers.
  9. He's really coming on this season - growing into the potential he always had. I've got a lot of time for this kid.
  10. IMO he's clearly a better CM than Westwood and will show that as he plays more. He seems to have a lot more vision and he weights his passes very well indeed - doesn't seem scared to attempt or unable to see a tricky pass either.
  11. He was very nervous in his first few appearances - it showed as he'd try to take a guy on, fail, get disappointed with himself and just be miserable and ineffectual for the rest of the game. He came out yesterday desperate to prove himself and make an impact and that he did.
  12. He did well but you need to look at the attackers he was up against - they were pretty shit and regardless, they got through a few times and should have scored at least one (Maghoma).
  13. I've been very critical of Sherwood lately but it's undeniable that he deserves credit for changing the game around - he needs to learn from this and build on the lift that the victory has given us. I'm going to hold my tongue/fingers until after the Liverpool game.
  14. From a statistical perspective - dispossessed once, 96% pass accuracy.
  15. Tonight proved exactly what we all said. Give us something to support and we'll beat anyone for noise. Show no fight and you'll lose us. The holte on a night like tonight is something special! It showed the duality of it, if anything. Both are important and play their part.
  16. I think he's of most use as an impact player - lots of pace and energy.
  17. He's in the team because for some reason Sherwood loves him - I've no idea what that reason is. He's not a dreadful player but he's just so lacking a definitive dimension it hurts. Outshone by Veretout.
  18. Well hopefully that will stop anyone calling for him to play as a DM again. Good bit of PR for Sanchez's technical ability too, in terms of comparison. Much better as a CB obviously.
  19. The second one, all day. Anything not to see another Westwood set-piece.
  20. Really liked the look of him today - he's a great passer, very incisive.
  21. Really happy for him today - got a chance and he took it with both hands. Looks like he could be a real asset if he continues to play like that.
  22. Jekyll and Hyde performance there - awful first, good second. Really grew into the game after he scored, which is encouraging.
  23. Got his subs right today - fair play, hopefully he'll learn from this.
