I knew there would be a flood of comment after stating what I believe.I did say "to each his owne" IMHO our big problem is motovation ( I would love to watch Villa start every game as if they really want to win it, not just the games against the top clubs. Well,I have stated my opinion now and will leave the DS thread only to return to look at the thread in November after we have played Saints,Brighton and Palace but, not to comment.

Ok,so im getting a lot of stick after posting my thoughts about DS,so let me attempt to explain.Lets get a couple of things streightened out first. 1 - Im not a tactition,I just watch our games ( not the least bit interested in any other PL teams ) and I enjoy watching my team and I enjoy watching good players. 2 - Im not running DS down.IMHO he has the team playing some really good football and ( taking all things into consideration ) I think we are a decent mid table team now under DS. 3 - DS has done a lot better than quite a few of our recent managers,eg Cabbagehead,Lambert,McStupid,to name a few. 4 - Last but not least,we are all allowed our opinions,right ? So, this is my take on DS. IMHO Shankly,Fergie, Mercer are great managers,DS knows who the best players in europe are and he uses this knowledge to make us a better team.What im saying is that he knows exactly which players to buy to improve the team and he is doing it.So, the way I see it is that he buys the players that are a great fit for us and thats it.These guys are all top proffesionals so they dont need coaching as such they just needd to keep the skills they already have sharp.The way I see it is that what the team needs is motavation and it looks to me like DS has yet to learn this skill. Last season we beat Liverpool,Chelski,Spurs and Manure ( in a friendly ) and not only did we have a worse team but we also had AEG,who a lot of players rubbish.Yet with this ( not as good team ) we beat the best.Our academy players gave Liverpool a run for their money,in fact the only reason they lost is because they ran out of steam.The point im trying to make is that if Manure,Liverpool,Spurs etc came over here to play I would give it 200% if I was playing against them but if a team from Fiji,New Caledonia or Lithunia came I would find it hard to raise my game.This is why I think we do well against the top teams,because we do already have a top team and we have proved it against the best,the players just dont get motavated against the lower teams and I put that down to DS,thats his job ( or part of it ) thats why our academy players did so well against Liverpool,because they were motovated. Yes,I know that even the top teams lose to teams like Norwich,Brighton Stoke etc but this is the exception rather than the rule.In other words we lose to these teams more than we should.

I agree that our squad is stronger,much stronger.I think our biggest problem is player motovation,especially against lower teams. I wouldent be suprised if we beat Liverpool,Manure,Arsenal etc and lost/draw against Norwich,Burnley,Leeds......This is the point I am trying to make.

That is my point,we beat teams like Liverpool 7-2 and cant beat 2 recently promoted teams.As I sai when we start beating teams below us,then I will have no misgivings

And where are Everton now ( even after losing ) ? Above us And where were Everton before saturday Above us and what did I say about raising our game when playing a better team ?!

I must admit that I am still one of the critical ones.What will change my opinion is if we can show (right from the start ) that we actually want to win........ when we play a team we consider below us ( as in our first games this season against Watford and Brentford ) I know everybody will jump down my throat here but let me explain.IMHO every team will raise their game when playing a big/bigger team but its only the good teams that raise their game when playing what they consider a lower team. Lets see how we play against Brighton and Palace and compare that against how we play against Chelski,Manure etc. You only have to look at last season.We beat Liverpool,Arsenal,Spurs and lost to Brighton,Leeds,Saints and Stoke in the league cup. We are showing the same pattern this season.We couldent beat Watford and Brentford but played really well against Chelski.

IMHO we need to try very hard to qualify for europe otherwise we will find that players like Bailey,Martinez,Buendia,and maybe Watkins and Tarore will want to transfer out.

Saw Hurst play when here toured with Bobby Charltons 11 also read his book about getting to the FA Cup.He starts at a nonleague club and follows them till they lose then he follows the winners and so on till he gets to the final which was Liverpool against someone and he takes the captain of that first non league team to the FA Cup final to meet the Liverpool captain.A great read.

I have read 16 Steven Leather books so far ( havent read the one you mention though ) I have read 2 of his books concerning the occoult ( Nightmare and Nightshade ) and they are a good change of pace and a good read as well.I reccomend those 2.

I live on a corner and when I asked the shire if they could do something about the light.They said no,because bieng on a corner it is a safety issue.So, the Mrs and me sleep with sleeping masks on.No problem now.

The thing is,if you are a good keeper you dont play backup.You move on,like Martinez,so IMHO Steer is probably the best you can get to stay a backup keeper.

Are you sure Ings even player on Saturday ? I cant remember seeing him doing much.

5/6 IMHO we play really good against the top teams but when we play what we consider a lower team Watford,Brentford we piss about and usually dont even start to play football till we are 1/2 goals down or in the 2nd half.
