  1. I actually agree with you on this. I thought Watkins was very poor in that role, but it's to be expected as he isn't a no.10. Also, as much as I thought it was the wrong move, we won 2-0 and he scored from that position....so what do I know!
  2. We've actually managed to assemble quite a large squad with different options in each position. The problem we now have is going to be moving players on and upgrading. For example, we probably need a new no.10/LWF but when you look at it on paper, we have Carney, Buendia, El Ghazi, Traore, Trezeguet and Bailey who play in those positions. Within that group, you have a prodigious young talent, our record signing, an extremely talented yet frustrating player and a player from the Bundesliga who may be a superstar when given time to settle. If you sign a player to play in that position, where does he fit in? What does it mean for the other players I've just mentioned. We really need to be looking to move the likes of Trezeguet, El Ghazi and possibly even Traore on in the next couple of windows to create space for either the young players we have or players we need to push to the next level. The priorities for me in the next window are a new LB as good as M. Cash and a defensive midfielder as good as Ndidi, Rice, Bissouma etc. Most of our good attacking play now comes from the overlaps our fullbacks make - just the way Liverpool play. If we could really improve on Targett (who I think is a decent player), then offensively we will go up a level. The defensive midfielder position is another obvious one. If we could get someone to do the same job as Nakamba but with the poise and elegance of Luiz, we would manage to dictate games more. It's a tricky one. We've made some very good signings since being promoted but also spent a lot of money that perhaps could have been better invested elsewhere. I'll be interested to see how we operate in the next two transfer windows.
  3. I’ll be honest, I thought he was abysmal last night, the goal aside. He’s so hot and cold at the minute.
  4. All this lad lacks is confidence. He has absolutely all the tools in his locked to have a very good career in the PL. I’m hoping this goal will spur him on to go and get more because he can carry the ball better than most in our side and with that eye and taste for goal, he could be deadly. Turning into a fabulous player.
  5. Can see him starting Saturday. We’re a little depleted at the moment. This could be his big chance. As others have said, the system suits him. It’s his time to shine!
  6. Well that’s a whole different conversation.
  7. Awesome right back. The best we’ve had since Luke Young. He’s improving at such a speed and to be honest, has been our best player this season by quite some distance. Worth mentioning the Gerrard system really suits him.
  8. Very good again tonight. Whether it’s in the advanced position or sitting deeper, he starts in our best XI because he’s very calm on the ball. I think he’ll make that deep lying position his own again while Nakamba is out. We’re a much better side with the ball when he plays there and McGinn is in front of him.
  9. I’ve seen this comment a lot lately and I just can’t agree with it. In fact, I think it’s just plain wrong. Love him or hate him, losing the ball when it’s played into your feet in the middle of the pitch has nothing to do with taking risks or what you’re in the team to do. It’s just poor and it puts us under pressure. The management team know that and it’s probably why he isn’t starting every match.
  10. I’m afraid this is correct. He was good for the first 35 mins but pretty poor actually for the remainder. Doesn’t look a £38m player to me. I think he probably gets in our best XI but needs to be more consistent. Always tires badly.
  11. Average again really. A few nice passes but still gets caught on the ball too much. Im not sold on him yet I’m afraid.
  12. They’re such a poor PL side. We did well without really doing much. I thought Watkins was very poor but he scored, so credit to him for that. Ramsey, Luiz and McGinn were all good. Cash was superb. Beat Burnley and we can forget relegation this season and finally concentrate on finishing in the top half!
  13. Cash, our POTS, easily MOTM. What a player he’s turned into.
  14. We don’t really play with wide players. Our full backs offer the width. If Young comes off, I’d bring on Carney.
  15. I see the lesser spotted Sanson hasn’t made it. Does he exist? Did he ever exist?
  16. Daft comment really, I’d just like to see a midfield 3 of Luiz, McGinn and Sanson!
  17. In a really odd way, this could be a blessing in disguise… Maybe?
  18. Would like us to try McGinn alongside Buendia in that advanced position with Ramsey playing alongside Luiz and Sanson.
  19. Yeh, you could be right Steero. That said, I've oddly never been that impressed with him in an England shirt, even when he was at the height of his good form. We won't be signing him anyway.
  20. At the time of signing him up, I'm pretty sure he was being touted as an £80m+ player, linked to the likes of Madrid. Just shows how very wrong you can get it as a club. Or, very right but how easily it is to be burned by the player once they've signed a new deal. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
  21. He’s done I think. Had 2/3 very good seasons and has done nothing of note for going on 3 years now. I have no idea if he just needs a change of club but it would be a huge financial risk bringing him in. Can see him going to Newcastle on a 4yr deal for 100k a week or some nonsense like that.
