  1. Agreed, but a 6 month loan? He's a far better player than Traore, Trezeguet and El Ghazi and won't cost us a transfer fee (Wages, yeh yeh). If we were signing him for 30m, I'd be concerned, but a 6 month loan would be a great deal.
  2. Its funny. You joke, but every time we play Wolves, go and visit the match thread. Most on here are shitting themselves at the prospect of playing Adama. I'd much rather have him in my team than play against him.
  3. Hells yeah I would! Bertand is slow and weak and the other is fast and strong. Yes, Bertrand has elements to his game that surpass Adama's, but Adama is far more dangerous.
  4. Fine. But he's miles better than Traore, Trezeguet and El Ghazi and at £20m, it's a steal.
  5. If grit and aggression is what Gerrard is after, I can't see him taking to Traore at all. Most people know I'm not a fan, but ability aside, the one thing I think he lacks is that tenacious, aggressive side to his game. He's more of a drifter and I'll give it to him, can be very elegant at times. As others have said, regardless of your opinion on him, I can't see Gerrard fancying him at all.
  6. Adama Traore being touted around at £20m... Seems cheap and would certainly add a lot of pace and strength to the team. I know he's a marmite character but I'd be all over him at that price.
  7. All I ever hear is how data driven and great our scouting team is. Lange and his team keep tabs and have information on every player throughout Europe and basically do all this jiggery and pokery to find the best players from abroad. Why do we always sign players we've heard of? Digne being a great example. Surely there is a LB abroad that we can snap up for half the price/wages? I don't know, just seems like our scouting isnt as far reaching as we're told. Buendia/Bailey/Ings again, good examples. That's 95 million pounds right there. I'd love us to find a couple of gems for 5-10m (I know, i know its hard).
  8. Yeh, could be mate, absolutely. Digne would massively improve our offensive output, I just don't know how good he is at defending. Can anyone enlighten? I can't see us competing with Newcastle financially. Right now, they're probably prepared to give players like Digne and Trippier 200k a week just to stay in the division.
  9. He's accurate about most things. Even Percy was crediting him for some stuff. I'm surprised at the Digne links as it kind of goes against our philosophy as others have said. He is however, a very good player.
  10. If a bid north of £45m came in for Watkins, I’d sell him. He’s very limited in what he offers and only seems to work in a system where he has to work really hard and run the channels as a lone striker. He’s been really, really poor at times this season. I like him as a player but there are better strikers out there for that kind of money.
  11. I may have missed something, but why on earth would Manchester City sell us a hugely promising youngster?
  12. Absolutely daft to be signing back ups. We need players that are better than the current crop.
  13. He’ll be off in the summer and it will be a bit s*** tbh. Feel as though we’ve developed him into the player he is today and he’s about to come into his prime. One thing I will say is, is he really that good? I’ve been very complimentary of him in the past and I think he’s a good player but maybe I’m a bit blinkered by the fact he’s Brazilian and has a fancy haircut (as daft as that sounds). How much better is he than Ashley Westwood? As someone has mentioned, he does lack pace and that kind of holds him back. I think we’ve kind of forgotten what a good defensive midfielder looks like at Villa. It might be something we only realised we’ve missed when a good player comes in and does a great job of it. Look at the likes of Bissouma, Rice, Ndidi and Phillips. These are all players that are better than Luiz and not exactly playing for the cream of the crop. I don’t want to lose Luiz, I think he’ll get better and he is certainly worth his place in the side/squad at the moment but if an offer of £25m comes in, I imagine we’ll sell.
  14. Trezeguet will end up back in Turkey I imagine. He is so far off the level we need.
  15. Digne is a quality player but I can’t see us being in for him.
  16. Nice analysis. I must admit, I really don’t get the amortisation/profit stuff! Either way, I want to move all 3 on. It’s about time we started signing genuine quality. The next 3 transfers are important ones. We could get it right like Leicester and Brighton seem to, or go the way Everton/Bournemouth have.
  17. Do you think we’d get more than what we paid for Traore, Trezeguet and El Ghazi? I agree a few of the players have but I’d rate our business as around 5/10 since being promoted. We’ve spent a lot of money and we’re likely to finish around 14th this season. That’s not great.
  18. He’s been crap for ages. But yeh, let’s go with the scapegoat line because that’s so easy to roll out. He’s already been replaced last summer, it’s just unfortunate Bailey is injured. Hopefully we’ll sign another attacking player soon and this charade that Traore is this wonderful player will end. 90 minutes of crap that includes a fancy flick here or there and people think he’s amazing. The mind boggles. Slow, weak, painfully one footed, no aggression, no physicality. He’ll be gone soon.
  19. Amongst the fans, he’s the most overrated player in our squad. Capable of the sublime, yes, but also miserably woeful most of the time. At least with the likes of Trezeguet and El Ghazi, people know they’re not good enough.
  20. Christ, he’s been here long enough. El Ghazi is just never going to be good enough for where we want to be. It’s time we moved him on tbh.
  21. He keeps his place for me. He was good today and certainly better than the garbage Watkins has served up lately. I know it’s the Ings thread but of all the players in our side, Watkins has been my biggest disappointment this season. I’ve defended him on numerous occasions and I thought he was excellent last season but this year he doesn’t look like he’s ever played football before. His touch and passing have been miles off in some games. Not sure what’s up with that.
  22. We need another one in there to play alongside Buendia. El Ghazi, Trezeguet and Traore aren’t good enough and won’t ever be good enough. We should be looking to sell all three and I think we will tbh. Obviously the hope is that Bailey is that man but tbh, I think we’ll be in the market for another no.10 in the Summer to compete with these two and Chukwuemeka moving forwards.
