  1. That isn’t the original whispers and he was wrong on every occasion in the summer.
  2. I thought he did well tbh. Probably our best player today. Hopefully he can keep up these levels. We’ll need him to.
  3. Yeh, that’s just nonsense. Gerrard inherited an average squad with a few good players and some players that just need to be moved on. We’re a 12th-14th place side and that’s probably where we’ll finish. We’re still suffering from the poor Summer transfer window. My biggest worry is we don’t have the money to properly back Gerrard.
  4. I think he’s done a lot of good for the club and I actually back the Gerrard appointment. I don’t really buy into jobs for the boys. The problem he faces now is, Gerrard needs to be backed, probably to the tune of 75-100m over the next couple of windows and considering the amount we have spent, is this even possible? We’ve spent so much on players that simply aren’t good enough.
  5. Never a truer word spoken. Bailey can hopefully help here but he’s not exactly been convincing.. We’ve got a big headache with the forward positions. We will take a loss on most we have signed.
  6. No chance. Not good enough for this division.
  7. We don’t play with wingers. Also, we have about 6 at the club. We’d need to get rid of a couple before we sign anymore. I’m afraid it’s a position we’ve never been able to properly recruit in.
  8. At what point does he come into question? And by that, I mean the spending he has overseen during his tenure? Look, I get it, we’re in a much better position now than we were before he joined but we have spent a ridiculous amount of money. Looking at the side today, it looks like we’ll need to spend a helluva lot more to get anywhere near the top 8. All I hear with our recruitment is data, data, data and we then go and blow a load of money on players that are well known to most of us and who don’t seem to improve us. We’ve really signed a load of dross since being promoted.
  9. He was rubbish before the injury. His mediocrity is masked by a couple of fancy touches here and there. If this guy is a starter for us, we’ll never challenge the top 8. One I’d be looking to move on in the summer.
  10. He’s overachieved with what he’s got to date. We’re still a very average side with some players nowhere near where they need to be. The most worrying thing for me is we’ve spent a helluva lot of money to get where we are. We won’t go on spending money like we have and we’ll be like Everton, in a real rut. Players like Traore, Trezeguet, El Ghazi. These players need to be moved on - they’re not good enough.
  11. And El Ghazi. We’re loaded with players in the forward positions that aren’t good enough. Keep Buendia and Bailey and I’d bin the rest.
  12. Really surprised Traore lasted as long as he did. He was utterly dreadful.
  13. We have to be beating sides like this. They’re very average, and that’s being kind. Traore is so off the pace, which is understandable and I think our passing has been sloppy at times. I don’t think we’ve been poor, we just need to somehow get ahead again.
  14. Am I the only one that rates Sterling? This idea that he only runs into people is just daft. He’s scored something like 15+ goals for the last 6 seasons running (correct me if I’m wrong) and also gets assists/wins penalties. Yes, he plays in an unbelievable side but he was also probably England’s best, or at least our most effective player at the Euro’s. Whether or not he’s as good as Jack is down to opinion but to say Jack is miles better is just madness. Sterling is a fantastic player.
  15. I think Watkins has been mostly poor too.
  16. I think it’s massively important we get the next 2/3 signings right. I thought our business in the Summer was quite poor actually and we spent A LOT of money. We don’t have endless amounts to throw away, there’ll be a bit of pressure on Purslow/Lange etc. if they get it wrong. More Martinez’s and less Ings’ please.
  17. I think it’s a good move for him and certainly hasn’t done Tomori any harm. I wonder how much of a say we had with this deal. A centre back now becomes a position we need to strengthen in, especially as Hause is likely to be off in the Summer. Does this pave the way for Gomez?
  18. Have you not seen him lose possession on numerous occasions?
  19. Can would be a great signing if we could get him but I’d expect a fair few top clubs would be in for him. Not sure if the Gerrard link would work in our favour or not.
