Sorry but he should go, playing the way we were tonight it was obvious to a blind man he needed to change things, NZ, GA. both may have improved us, yet he only made 1 change. why not go 4 at the back against them and put on another forward. Way way to defensive. why not take the shackles off and tell the team to go for it, we may still have lost but how much more of this defensive dross must we see at Villa park, for christ sake this was Leyton Orient not ManC. Why give them this much respect.

I think we play well against teams who give us space and allow us to counter atack, any time we come up against a team playing defensive we look clueless.

Its been a couple of years since he had a good run of games, he may not recover,

Had a good game, looked to be the only one who may unlock their defence, also went close with an instinctive shot. he can hold his head high which is more than can be said for the rest of them.

Surely that top manager of ours will get him into shape. If only, perhaps he just needs a few games to get up to speed, I just can not decide with him if he has lost it or is just low on confidence.

He had to pass sidewards alot as the movement was absent in front of him. had a reasonable game without being exceptional, need to see more really.Made a couple of great tackles though, thought he had injured himself at one point.

Watching him tonight he looks overweight, off the pace and low on confidence. he may improve with a run of games then again maybe not, I can forgive him the confidence and pace but for a premier league player to be out of shape is unforgivable..

Can not wait for him to come back, he is a proper forward, can head the ball, quick thinking and just wants to score goals.His all round game is not the best but as long as he scores goals who cares.

In all seriousness depends who we have up front, at the moment Clarke and Baker make their defence look poor. Lets hope who they bring in take a while to bed in.

we need to play a strong team and build up confidence, certainly our front players need a few goals, Baker and Clarke are not kids now but experienced defenders in their own right who know their positions have been taken, I fully expect them to react positively as it could be last chance saloon for them. We need a good result to lay the ghosts we have created and to show we can start winning at home, this is the priority for PL as to get the fans back on side he has to start showing improvement at VP. I look forward to watching this match with the lad and hopefully having something to cheer about at last.

Bent is not a lone striker? He scored most of his goals at Charlton and Sunderland...when he was played as a lone striker though. We don't the two top midfielders the to play 2 up top. Yes he did but not with out a good midfield laying them on a plate for him. They were all about counter atacking through the midfield and the atack normally ended with a ball through to him. He was not a conventional lone striker expected to hold the ball up and hold off defenders.

DB is a great finisher, a six yard killer and poacher, he will not run the line, chase, harass or beat defenders over 10 yards, with that in mind he is the second striker, he should play along side CB or LK, He is not a lone striker and never has been, I want him if played to stay in the box and not run the channels, let AW or Gabs do that. I would rather he stayed in the middle and do what he does best like scoring goals.

I got a feeling we will have to have a back up plan cos he is going to draw cards like a croupier.

I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, he had and still has an enormous job turning us round, I dont know if the bomb squad was his idea or it was a club order, The players seem to respect him so maybe he is not as guilty as it seems, The problems off field behind the scenes contributed to loss of form as well but again the players still seem to be behind him. Too many managers and players were hinting about the problems with some players and staff behind the scenes for there to be nothing in it. What gives me hope is that when we needed a result we seemed able to get it, it was almost as if the players could step up if they had to. Hopefully with the new faces in the squad and the team behind the scenes we may have a good season and start seeing progress again. Hopefully this time next year the finances will be better, the owner better and we will all start to be positive again, Our club for way to long had highs and lows, it is time now for a few highs.

there is a difference between being ITK and passing information you have heard. Just because you come across someone you feel may know who pases an opinion does not make it gospel. I have said before anybody who is truly ITK on this will be tied up in red tape and confidentiality clauses and would never pass on the info without fear of recrimination. We are on a forum to discuss Villa and offer opinions or hold discussions. I never believe ITK until it is official but enjoy reading and taking part in the banter.
