  1. I did not mean in that sense, I meant a man committed to winning, prepared to put his foot in and be nasty a player who will make the opposition work for everything they get, a player the other players look up to and do not want to let down, a leader on and off the pitch, all successful teams have a player like this and is a necessity when the team is so young and brittle in confidence.
  2. They are trying though, what ever way you look at it they are kids, my lads are the same age and I can not believe that shouting abuse, booing and getting on their backs during a game will improve them, we should be cheering them on, chanting their names and inspiring them, Richards is right, how will the abuse help the team. Most have not been in this position before and are not sure what to do. we need a strong physical leader on the pitch in the midfield. someone who will flatten the opposition players and set the tone of the game, inspire and push the other players to perform, a Roy Keane type player who will not put up with slackers or lack of effort.
  3. We all of a certain age bemoan the fact that the fans have no bonding with the players anymore, players used to go over to the fans and chat, sign autographs, etc. to see this video both saddens and sickens me. No player in any team deserves this much abuse, I get that fans feel they are not giving there all, are an embarrassment, in it purely for the money, but this reaction, no I will never believe it to be justified or productive. As for the game it was as I expected. history is littered with lower league teams pulling off good results, and that is against a lot better teams than ours. It was there cup final, they needed a result to finance there club so they were always going to give 110%. As for us, well we played to our usual standard, the penalty although soft was justified, to jump for the ball at height in the area with your foot leading is gross stupidity and made the refs decision easy. Although Gill had a reasonable game there was times when he could have done better with a will to run, a case in point was the interaction with him and Baccuna where the ball was played to the corner and Gill had stopped running. this could be seen all over the pitch. Watch closely and you will see the majority of our passing goes behind the players receiving the ball, a pass completion yes but poor passing non the less. Confidence is key to this as players want to ensure the pass does not get intercepted but it slows the game down and allows the opposition to regroup. this is what i thing Garde means about belief. we have a negative attitude believing the worst will happen believing that every time you make a mistake it will be punished with a goal. The squad needs new blood and players coming in who can change things for the better.
  4. You can not blame Lerner or Garde for these performances, They did not buy the players, Just what the hell is going on behind the scenes that makes these players so bad, Lack of skill and bad luck I can cope with but lack of effort, is not acceptable, no closing down, no running into space, pedestrian football in the midfield with no urgency. it defies belief. within the space of a minute at the end we throw the ball to them from a throw in and then Guzan passes it back to them when they loose posession. We had a better team than this in the third division. On a positive at least alot of them if they stay will have a large pay cut.
  5. It is almost as if it is deliberate, how can any team be this shit. seriously we even throw the ball to them
  6. by all accounts if rumours are to be believed Chelsea are to offer £30 m for Teckers.
  7. In most seasons there are teams who do well up till Jan then fade badly as other teams learn how to play against them, suspensions and injuries occur. Teams that have 20 points now may only end up with 34 points. The top teams have dropped alot of points against the lower teams in the first half of the season but will most likely go on winning runs from now on the run in. It is not over for us yet by long shot but the fat lady is sure as hell waking up.
  8. Nobody wants to be relegated, not true fans anyway, alot of talk is because it is inevitable and people want to see the positive side because any other side hurts. The problem with the prem is it is relentless, you have no time to bed players in or build a side full of confidence. although we think our players are not good enough I bet if you put 8 or 9 of them in another team doing well with a good system and confidence they will play great. Benteke is a prime example of confidence and a system that suits. we think he is world class and would pick him every week. Ask a Liverpool fan what they think of him and it is a different player. If we go down or rather when we will see a different team next year as they will believe they can win. I just hope they learn to scrap and play ugly as it may not go well.
  9. Some of the best games I have seen down the Villa was when we were in the old third division. We will get back to players playing for pride and the club rather than money and to get a move. Passion from the pitch spills into the crowd and visa versa. The Prem is overated anyway full of diving, play acting, primadonnas and outright disrespect for the supporters The Prem will not change until the elite chosen ones make up a European super league and leave the mere mortal clubs to play football. Yes you see lots of skilfull bits of football and good matches but pleasure can also be found watching good chalenges for the ball, team goals and the ability to go down the match every week knowing your team have a good chance of winning.
  10. Win ten games lol, this lot couldn't beat the changing room mat.
  11. The club will want to get rid of him to reduce the wages in the championship, problem is what nutter would buy him and pay him what we do. reckon we are stuck with him. next man to enter the bomb squad.
  12. The ever present tag is just another record that these clowns can break. I think over the last few years they have broken all the other ones to the point we have to start breaking the ones we have set. it would not surprise me if we get less points than derby did yet another record to achieve. If we go down then it will not be the end of the world but just different. to be playing in a league where you have a chance of winning every game against similar clubs. The way football is at the moment it may be heading for self destruction. Prices are crazy, wages out of control, transfers are ridiculous where you have to go abroad to get quality for a reasonable price. Football is no longer for the working class and with it being so easy to watch on streams and tv it will only be a matter of time before it starts going south. In the past when we had a bad game it used to ruin my weekend and the first day back at work with the usual banter. Nowadays if I am honest it only winds me up for the hour after the game. perhaps I have just become used to us losing and us being shite. Players have just become mercenaries with no commitment, passion or affiliation with the crowd. They get obscene wages what ever the result or performance and act like premadonnas on and off the field where the majority of them are so pampered they would not know a days work if it bit em on the ass. They are pampered to the point they have the clubs run there lives helping with housing, repairs and other tasks most people do naturally but is above there comprehension. It has even got to the point where I feel sorry for the Blues fans and what they have had to endure where in the past it would have kept me laughing for weeks. It has been months since I could even be bothered to watch MOD. It just does not bother me any more.
  13. It takes time to change things round, we have had the international break in the middle of his time here so he was short on time working with the whole squad. He has a tough job, to save us he has to set new records in premier league history. I am not sure he can do it with the squad we have but I will certainly give him a chance. The biggest thing for me is the teams above have not really left us behind even with our poor points tally. It is certainly not over yet by a long shot. Newly promoted teams normally get off to a flier and fade in the second half of the season as teams learn how to play against them. The problem is after the last few years of trash we have watched we have all lost faith and expect the worst.
  14. Men against boys, pathetic, can not pass, move, tackle, mark players. we deserve to go down with these pathetic players.
  15. The goals will come soon, confidence is the key here. We say we have poor forwards but in reality they do not get the service they need. We were lucky having CB as he created alot of chances himself. The first job is to build a sound defense and build from there. I believe in a couple of months we will be wondering what all the fuss was about and will be scoring alot more as we make more chances.
  16. I dont think he has a bad attitude but feels the pressure to produce. He is a marked man and is expected to cope with limited experience of playing against men at the top of their game. He is still learning his trade and is just trying too hard, he needs time to rest and build his confidence again.
  17. He will be given money in Jan surely to god. has to replace about 4 players. I like the way he did not react and just stared. He took everything in tonight and hopefully will have a plan even if it takes a couple of weeks to see it start to work. we have pretty much written off any points in the next few games so he has 2 matches to play with.
  18. Just how many of our young academy players have come through and forced their way into the first team and showed their class? We have young defenders who can not defend and are prone to sunday league errors. Midfielders shipped out to improve their game and what if any forwards have come through. His work is a bit of a myth in my book and there are better coaches out there.
  19. Garde looked well pissed off in the stands. I think a few players have played their last game for a while. Confidence and results will improve as players understand what they are required to do and are under pressure to do as told.
  20. Our problem though is we do not play the ball fast enough. we telegraph our moves and allow defenses to take up their positions. I think Ayew Gil and Sinclair will get better and better as Garde sorts out the midfield and tactics.
  21. Pretty sure if he was asked to man mark a player he would excel, he does not have the nouse to play as a central midfielder though.
  22. He is being asked to do too much and has too much pressure on him. he needs resting and time to reflect and work on his attitude and game.
  23. He is not young anymore and should be pretty close to the finished article. No more chances he needs to be shipped out.
  24. Anybody know when he will be back and ready to play
