If we hang on to Ayew, Amavi and Gueye they should all shine at this level. Looks like we are signing players who are proven at this level too if the signing of Elphick is anything to go by. With some of the younger lads having played on loan at this level too we might be ok to push for promotion at the first ask.

He's not lived up to that first pass he hit out to the right on his debut when he came on as sub. That was special, I thought we had signed a gem at that point. Shame.

Looks done to me, he says goodbye to the fans of Hellas Verona here and says AVFC is a big opportunity. In the video he says he's been round the stadium and it's an incredible stadium befitting a top club as are the training facilities. He's sorry to leave Italy but AVFC is too big an opportunity to knock back. Sky did the interview at the airport with him before his flight to brum. HE also said he had different offers but no-one valued him as highly as Di Matteo as a player.

Gollini could well be first choice, depending on how well he trains. We don't have anybody massiveley better than him. No 1 shirt is his for the taking if he works hard.

Not seen him in the flesh but seen him on the telly, didn't scream out top class keeper but he's well regarded down here. Price I think inflated by it being an english club, I very much doubt Verona would have got €5m for him had he gone to another italian club. This says it's only a step away, just sorting out the details

Ha! For €2600 over here you can do a course in Milan for a year analysing players in-game then you get a years placement at a club. Turing into the norm very rapidly.

Not solely, he would have been tasked with providing statiscal analysis of them though and to give recommendations based on his work. No one person would have been responsible for that list. Stone could be a valuable part of a new team at Villa park given the job of recruiting players.

Large pay packet I would assume, and the promise of sustained budget for recruitment. Would have to be motivation for someone in that line of work surely.

We got relegated in the absolute worst year to be relegated, you get £100m just for turning up next year in the prem. £25m against going down is sound business.

No-one is bigger than the club and to think you are when you've only shown the promise of being a very talented player whilst never having produced for 90 minutes a few weeks in a row is complete madness. I'm not saying he does want out, but al of a sudden there's a few rumours of impressing scouts and Stoke wanting him and all sorts. Could be his agent stoking the fire for a move and his agent at the end of the day works for him so... -

Well, he's not won anything that I can remember but he did get Chile playing nice footy. Seems very highly regarded, not seen any of his marseilles but I don't think his reputation was damaged there, we knew he was a nutcase who brought good results and played good football. He would never come to Villa, especially not in the Championship, I can't see him working in England full stop. Was mooted for Lazio, but I think he'll end up having a crack at a bigger club, possibly in Italy or Spain. He's getting on a bit so I doubt he'd want to take on our rebuilding job!
