  1. Well, he's not won anything that I can remember but he did get Chile playing nice footy. Seems very highly regarded, not seen any of his marseilles but I don't think his reputation was damaged there, we knew he was a nutcase who brought good results and played good football. He would never come to Villa, especially not in the Championship, I can't see him working in England full stop. Was mooted for Lazio, but I think he'll end up having a crack at a bigger club, possibly in Italy or Spain. He's getting on a bit so I doubt he'd want to take on our rebuilding job!
  2. El loco is real, what's mythical about him?
  3. what does 28 symbolise? football nouse?
  4. Careful, I asked whether anyone would have Giggsy a few pages back and the answer was "**** no" I really don't know whether he will make a manager or not but I think there's something about him that makes me think he could be a good one. Nothing other than a feeling though obviously and probably swayed by the fact I'm a similar age and followed his whole career. Roy would have been good a few years ago, I could see him laying down some good foundations probably though. I just don't see him wanting to end his career with a project like us. He'll want a chance of winning something after some great work with the national squad.
  5. Moyes would never have come to Villa Park under Lerner, where the remit would have been getting us up with the exclusive use of a shiny brass ring, a cabbage patch doll and $1m in cash. The fact we got him to interview (allegedly) with the promise of some real backing is IMO a small positive. The reports with no quotes in it said he didn't want to be rushed and we're in a hurry to sort out the shitfest Lerner left us in. We need to get someone in, so we can then build the football side of the club back up consulting them and supporting them. Moyes would have been good, RDM is a decent shout and Pearson would probably be effective.
  6. All the Italian news is from 2 days ago, and a lot of the stuff after the initial calciomercato rumblings (calciomercato is dubious - somewhat of an agents press release vehicle) says the news comes from reports in England which came after the calciomercato article I think. So I'm not entirely convinced about that story anymore. RDM is suddenly very short, 1.6 on betfair and was out at 3s. Pearson has drifted but everyone is on about Pearson still. Wondering why RDM is so short myself...
  7. Some good footballing sides have come up from the Championship recently, probably more in that mould than hardcase old-school english chip and run stuff.
  8. Chicken no way, it would show how far this club has fallen. Lamb or GTFO
  9. Lots of hyperbole and exageration, it's an awesome acheivement but the claims that it's the greatest sporting upset of all time is taking the piss somewhat.
  10. I'd not see Moyes as short termism in the slightest, Pearson would be the snap short term get-out-of-the-championship-now appointment. RDM somewhere in between, Moyes will surely be tasked with building us up to where he had Everton (and where we were briefly to be fair). That will not happen in the short term, will be at least 3 years.
  11. But, but, but, Leicester! Surely we should now be able to win the Premier League from the Championship if only we had the team spirit and belief of Leicester. Let's believe we're European Champions while we're at it, because Leicester! For me what Clough did with Forest was 10 times what they have done, remarkable and amazing and beautiful though it is.
  12. I backed moyes at 25/1, just layed at 5/1. Now guaranteed money regardless of who it is
  13. Rome would be a long way from Birmingham if that was his aim.
  14. says here http://www.calciomercato.com/news/di-matteo-a-roma-incontro-con-la-lazio-172982 and here http://www.sportmediaset.mediaset.it/mercato/lazio/lazio-spunta-di-matteo-per-la-panchina_1099453-201602a.shtml that di matteo is in Rome talking to Lazio after being "associated" with us. no quotes and nothing official but there's a few sites running it, they might just be jumping on calciomercato's bullshit though who seem to be an agents favourite outlet over here.
  15. Then it wouldn't be a front would it, it would be a transparent, a window, a non front.
  16. He talked a good game but got found out massively.
  17. It's a moot point about us being his "one true love", tbh it was a stretch that an american could understand who we are, that Dr Tony Xia would be a villan at heart is surely fantasy land. The fact he looked at 8 clubs here, others in european football and jumped at teh chance of getting us on a knock down price once we went down suggest to me that he is smart. I would rather smart and ambitious, someone who has seen a great opportunity to promote his stuff and make some money than someone like the last chap with the villa tattoo trying to be one of us. For him to be a success necessitates that we are at least moderately successful. Fine by me.
  18. It will always be Villa Park, so they can call it "howdy doody truckstop gravyland" if they like and it means we don't fall foul of FFP and can invest heavily this summer.
  19. Somewhere in China a little red light is blinking on a map, it indicates your house.
  20. Is he any relation to Gary Xia? He's certainly gone balls out in the first interview, not exactly cautious is it? Top 3 in the world, most famous club in the world in 10 years? Top 6 in 3 years? If he's half as good as his mouth we should be laughing.
