  1. Ok, on the Diawara thing, there are quotes from his agent saying the offer has been placed by Aston Villa but any more than that is Bologna's business and he can't comment. That is all over every football transfer market gossip site going. The AS Roma blog have it, the Juve blog too. Interestingly la gazzetta have this from a couple of days ago... http://www.gazzetta.it/Calciomercato/15-08-2016/juve-diawara-sfida-napoli-roma-c-blitz-ferragosto-160765638431.shtml?refresh_ce-cp Where we get mentioned as "getting close" to the player, says nothing about actual offers though and they seem to think it's a head to head between Napoli and Roma for his signature unless Juve go in for him, in which case he'll go there. The gossip side of the gazzetta has just posted this too... http://www.pianetamilan.it/calciomercato/diawara-contatti-tra-milan-e-bologna-i-dettagli-della-prima-offerta-rossonera/?refresh_ce-cp Which talks of serious interest from Milan, but they would prefer a loan with a fee of €3.5-€4m, with the right to buy at the end of the year, first refusal type thing. Bologna on the other hand want a definitive sale, there has been strong interest from Napoli and Roma, and a €17m offer arrived from Di Matteo of Aston Villa. The player is tempted by Milan, who's alternative is Fernando from Manchester City.... Soooo, I think it's clear we've made a pretty hefty offer for the player which Bologna would snap our arm off for, but nothing from the agent or player saying he'd come here and some big Italian clubs interested.
  2. Not massively no, they have a reputation for making up bullshit everyday in order to get attention. I'll have a dig around tomorrow, they seem so certain about the fee and agreeing terms that it would be mental if it were true and no-one else had it.
  3. Way too soon to panic especially seeing as we are still pretty active in rebuilding the squad. Obviously we need to be nearer a 2 points per game average to win/get automatic promotion. There's over 40 games left though we just need to do enough between now and the transfer window closing to not leave us to much to do to compete at the top end of the league.
  4. http://www.tuttosport.com/news/calcio/calciomercato/2016/08/14-14378081/calciomercato_bologna_l_aston_villa_si_fa_sotto_per_diawara/?cookieAccept @StanBalaban ok here goes... "Bologna transfer news, Aston Villa are in for Diawara. The english club have offered 17 million euros and have agreed terms with the player: could be a done deal BOLOGNA- It feels like there is no end to the summer madness involving Amadou Diawara. The Guinean midfielder has decided, at 19 years old after only one season in Serie A, that for him the time has come for a change, regardless of whatever the club thinks, by leaving Bologna. He's not been shy whilst waiting for the right offer. THE OFFERS- There's supposedly an offer on the way from Roma, after Paredes' exit opened up a place in the midfield. But, while the red and yellows wait to see if they qualify for the groups of the Champions League, Napoli have come in for Diawara. In the meantime, on the quiet, working under the radar Aston Villa have agreed a €17m fee and reached an agreement on terms with the player who is weighing up whether to move to the english club or not, who this year play their football in the Championship and no the Premier League." That's the gist of it. Tomorrow I'll see if there's anything else doing the rounds to back tuttosport up.
  5. Scored the best goal I have ever seen from a villa player by far. Always one of my favourite players. Shocking waste of a life at the hands of some dickhead who shoudl have known better. Just **** tragic.
  6. Villa in astute bit of business that addresses a key area of weakness shocker.
  7. Hey sorry, just back from the mountains! Not been online for a few days, I'll give it a go in a bit
  8. Wow must be 30 odd years since I've heard that one!
  9. Still can't find anything Italian about the Morrison transfer. Only seems to be English rumour mill talking about it. As a rumour it was doing the rounds end of June start of July here, but nothing since then.
  10. Well, whilst I find them eggstremely eggsagerated I think I might be at fault after I got trapped not knowing how to end an all eggs in what basket metaphor about Ravel Morrison. I didn't hatch a plan to start a line of eggsquisite egg punnery, whilst some are cracking some have left me with shell shock and I suggest you eggnore them.
  11. Lordy, could football be that simple? Buy 2 players who have scored 20+ goals in your division last season to solve your goalscoring problems? Surley not?
  12. btw can't find anything recent about morrison to us in the italian media, all seems to be uk based rumours this time. In june and july there was loads of links, now nothing much.
  13. I'm not against taking the gamble in the slightest, but if we're putting all our creative eggs in the basket marked "Ravel Morrision" then we need to be prepared for some broken eggs.
  14. rude awakening I think, hopefuly followed by some more investment in the squad!
  15. Very much last chance saloon for Morrison if he comes to us, or if he stays with the scum actually. Although putting away my claret and blue specs for a minute I think it's probably in his best interests to stay in Italy as I'd back the Italian coaching to get his head and his diet etc right too, him coming back to the UK might put some old demons in his face again. He has always been an incredible talent, he has never put a season together though, if we bought him we'd really need at least one good whole season out of him.
  16. Bent a "complete" forward? "Complete" is normally used to describe someone with all round footballing ability. Bent was good at being in the right place at the right time and finishing chances. Almost everything else, creating chances, holding the ball up, beating a man, vision, passing... was er... lacking.
  17. Yeah the sanchez story is on all the italian football gossip sites. He'd do well over here I think with a bit more time on the ball.
  18. Give it a rest, at least wait to cane him in every thread you can until Ayew or Amavi have been signed by another club.
  19. Shame to lose Gana and Veretout for me, they are far less deadwood in my eyes than Richards, Lescott, Gabby, Hutton, Sinclair etc.
  20. Still though for a fistfull of euros...
  21. I'd want to be sure he had his head sorted out before paying money for him, if Lazio would loan him I'd be more up for it and tell him to prove he's worth a contract by helping us get promoted. He's a very good player when he's on his game, he's not been on his game for ages though. He only played 159 minutes all last season for a not exactly awesome Lazio side. Few rumours of him being naughty and spending as much time as possible out of the country. I'm not entirely convinced to say the least, the last stories over here linking us to him were around a month ago, gone a bit quiet now.
  22. This is lago di nemi, my favourite swimming pool round here, swam across this a few times but just swimming out into the middle and laying on your back and floating around is about as good as it gets.
  23. Looking light at the back though, not having room for Kompany, Boateng, Godin, Thiago Silva is a massive oversight. If RDM is just going to use up all our loans on Messi, Ronaldo, Ramsey type players then I might have to start questioning his judgement.
