  1. We'd need any kind of defender if we're losing Baker and Clark too. That'd leave us with Okore and Richards, who everyone is sure will be playing RB. So just Okore at CB. Sherwood better get a move on if he's rebuilding our entire backline in one summer. Senderos, always forgotten (edit: just read the original post, nevermind. )
  2. Would definitely have him back, on the right wages, but the articles i've read seem to just be conjecture based on Young having a year left on his contract and we have loads of money from Benteke. Can't see it happening.
  3. The more I think about this deal, the more I warm to it. Adebayor to be fair is a very good striker, and a motivated Adebayor can be just as good as, if not better than, Benteke was for us. I just hope he'll be motivated and not on ludicrous wages.
  4. Been resigned to him leaving for ages now, but don't think I'll ever be able to stand seeing him in a plop shirt
  5. Why did gareth southgate leave us for middlesbrough ???? I cant remember the reason. Wasn't it something to do with Ellis not being very ambitious? I was only young at the time so it's second hand memories I suppose, but wasn't there a story about how Southgate had a photo of the 82 side on his locker but it was taken down by the club as Ellis wasn't owner at that time. That with limited spending at the time, which meant missing out on players like Lampard (allegedly, and that was after Southgate left i think?), supposedly made Southgate feel the the club couldn't achieve much more, and he was right
  6. Why would he go there!? At least with Delph you could argue that Fernando and Fernandinho have been iffy for City and with Lampard leaving it isn't inconceivable an England international would fancy his chances of first team football. But with this guy, does he seriously think that at 18 he stands a chance of competing for places with Nasri, Silva, Sterling and Navas? Or is just happy to be farmed out on loan for the next 3/4 years? At that age one of the worst moves you can make is going to a top 4 side, imo.
  7. For those without speakers, sick bag or rotten veg to throw let me give you the highlights. In it Delp claim he has supported Man City since he could walk having grown up watching Wanchope. He says he was born in Moss Side and had an Oasis haircut was 16. He then goes on to say that Mangala is the finest CB he has ever seen and that he rides a unicorn to training ever day. Was he at Wembley to watch the Gillingham game too?
  8. Great so can any Football Manager experts chime in on this lad? If we can get a player that is absolutely beast on two games then we have a winner I think... He's shit on FM, fast though.
  9. Well, it really takes something to make Stewart Downing look like a paragon of honesty and loyalty, but you've gone and **** done it Fabian, you word removed.
  10. Think they're in the same boat as us, lucky that there'll probably be 3 worse off teams. I reckon Sunderland, Leicester and Bournemouth will go down, with Watford and Norwich surviving by the skin of their teeth.
  11. This will probably come across a little bitter, but honestly, Milner to City. Now I don't mean that he should have stayed at Villa forever, as much I would've liked him to, just that I think it was the wrong move at the wrong time. He should've stayed an extra year, and that following summer Utd needed a new CM to replace Scholes, who they eventually needed to convince out of retirement. Milner may not be the same type of player as Scholes, but I honestly think that Ferguson would have bought him and played him through the middle, and I reckon his career would've flourished. Hell, even if Milner had been played CM at City, I think he'd be the current England captain, perhaps regarded as the best CM in the country. Instead he jumped at the first chance to leave and was shoved out on to the wing as the "safe and defensive" option, where his career, ability-wise, stagnated. He had so much potential, and it kind of saddens me to see someone who could have been an England legend have fans moaning when he's picked to play for England. His career has been successful monetary and trophy wise, but if he'd waited for someone who'd play him in position, it could've been so much more in terms of ability and stature.
  12. Ranieri has been announced as Pearson's replacement. Not paid too much attention to his recent career, last I knew he was being OK at Monaco.
  13. He gone to Swansea already That's Jordan Ayew. That's who we're linked with, his brother Andre went to Swansea.
  14. They rate him higher than John Stones as well!! Wouldn't mind us taking a punt on him That's exactly what my mate said too (the John Stones bit) If thats the case how come they got 3 mill for stones and only want 1 for holgate Holgate's contract expires next summer, was Stones' that close when Everton got him?
  15. He did OK, was at CM in a 4-2-3-1, nothing special really, but the whole team was crap to be fair. Over hit a few passes and tended to telegraph them a bit I thought, really opening up his body in the direction he was passing, though he did have some nice touches and passes. Maybe with more confidence that sort of stuff will become a little more natural looking.
  16. Valencia will be 30 in a few weeks and will want silly money, no thank you. In fact, no player swaps at all, cash or nothing, and if we want to sign your rejects we'll use the cash you gave us to do it.
  17. Lol. Always loved ya Fab, never had a bad word to say about ya...
  18. Schweinsteiger is joining Utd according to Bild. Pretty awesome signing for them if true!
  19. There is a lot of distance between this scenario and Fox not knowing much about a takeover. Fox probably knows all there is to know about the takeover from Villa's side, i.e. if there is one, how close it is, chances etc., but probably doesn't know a great deal on what any potential owners plans are.
  20. It's definitely Grealish, the picture on the OS shows his hair a little more clearly.
  21. And yet this excuse didn't get handed out when Bent was being given a lot of abuse. Difference is Gabby has played over 300 times for the club, came through our youth system, has always given his all for the club and is currently our highest goalscorer in the Premier League era. Yes, Gabby can be shit at times, and it is sometimes bewildering that he earns so much, but for the stated reasons quite a lot of fans give him a bit of slack, kind of rightly imo. Although personally I think he can definitely be improved upon, especially as he ages and gets slower, but would still be sad if he left.
  22. Your right! Adebayor is not British, though we all know he is gagging to get him here. Do we? Must be true he plays for his old team and the press say he is so its true surely (and don't call me Shirley) I'm having a deja vu from the Grant Holt thread. Difference is Grant Holt hadn't just been given his second period of time off due to personal problems. Which includes his brother holding a knife to his throat. Honestly, with all the stuff going on with Adebayor, I'd be surprised if he plays football again for a long time, if ever again.Yet alone us signing him.
  23. How is Vardy in the England squad Cleverley is in better goal scoring form at the minute. Does Hodgson seriously believe there are no better strikers available? Why not go for Troy Deeney or Calum Wilson if you're gonna go for someone out of left field, at least they've scored more than 5 goals
  24. They can't completely take their foot off the gas though, it's still possible that Utd can go above them, it would require an unlikely 7 goal swing, but considering WBA just beat Chelsea 3-0 and Man Utd have Hull at home it's not out of the question. If Arsenal want group stage CL football, they may have to field a strongish side.
