I have a very vivid memory of getting in bed with my parents one Saturday morning. Every Saturday was the same when we were kids, me and my sister would always wake as early as possible and jump in bed with mum and dad. Nothing unusual in that, I'm sure many people did it. Anyway, one day I remember feeling distinctly unwelcome and then wondering why my dad wasn't wearing his pyjamas and mum wasn't wearing her nightie. I don't think I thought much of it at the time but years later, it came it mind and I realised exactly why I'd not been greeted with the usual level of welcome.
