When you consider "King Kenny" is doing basically the same at Liverpool to Woy, one cup win aside, except how much has Kenny spent? Replace Woy with the King and vice versa, would they accept that? no they'd all be saying he's spent 160m, finished 8th and 'won a lousy Carling Cup'. They'd be furious with him. Kennys would be "well he's gonna need time to build the team/spend money".

I'm pretty sure Woy's record is marginally better than Kennys in the league, yet he was lambasted by their fans, whereas now anyone attacking King Kenny is lambasted.

IMO. Of course.

Don't understand all this "the next man has to be English" bollocks.

The next manager needs to be the best man available to do the job. End of. His nationality is irrelevent.

This is international football.

We are England.

We have English players.

We have English fans.

We should have an English manager.

(Some) Polish built our stadium.

(Some) Indians made our shirt.

(Some) Chinese make the merchandise

Basically, as an England fan you are screwed.

Lol true but you can't do anything about that.

The players and manger should always be English.

We are too big a footballing nation to have a foreign manager.

I could understand us having a foreign manager at handball in the Olympics - it is not a major sport for us so we probably lack expertise in the sport.

But to have a foreign manager in our no.1 sport is embarrassing.

Can you imagine Brazil having a foreign manager?

Or can you imagine the USA having a foreign basketball coach?

Or New Zealand having a foreign rugby coach?

Or India having a foreign cricket coach?

etc

about 30 million Canadians, many of whom are probably twice your size, have no more teeth to knock out, eat metal filings and drink gasoline for breakfast, think nothing of dragging a quartered moose a quarter mile in from the bush, keep wolverines as pets, think anything above 35 below is "balmy", are crack shots and can find at least 50,000 lakes in which to dump your sorry carcass in where no-one will ever find you, 'cos it's a four hour snowshoe trip in from the nearest logging road...that's who.

;-)

don't be **** with our national game there young feller.

Tbf Hodgson was my second choice behind Redknapp so I am happy with the appointment.

I'm just glad that we are going to have an English manager :)

So it seems one of the main reasons the FA went for Hodgson was because they believe he will embrace the National Football Centre in Burton more than Redknapp.

Why on earth is this a consideration for the England job?

Yes - the National Football Centre is important to help nuture future talent...but why is this the responsibility of the England manager? Surely there are two jobs there - giving them both to one person means neither will be done to their full potential?

Hodgson already lives in the West Midlands so he wont mind being based at St George's Park in Staffordshire.

Redknapp lives on the South Coast so I doubt that he would wanna move to the Midlands - he has only ever managed Southern clubs and he turned down the Newcastle job because of geography.

But it's a fair point.

Surely the job of the England manager is to manage the senior team and the senior team only?

Why? He only plays 12 games a year tops. Why pay him £2m to sit on his arse the rest of the time.

I'm all for Hodgson because he will embrace a national coaching ethos and will work to make sure that new and soon to be coaches get the support they need to develop.

Whats the point of having an England Coach because he won't be coaching the players. The managers job is to set the team up at short notice and make sure everyone knows what is required for the game - its management not coaching.
