Ryan Johansson who is currently playing for Bayern Munchen is apparently about to choose Sweden over Ireland as his national side.

He has both Swedish and Irish parents.

About to pull a Grealish as he's represented Ireland at youth level.

Can't say I know much about him but he's highly regarded at Bayern and Sweden needs a new generation of midfielders.

Nothing confirmed yet but I hope he chooses Sweden obviously.

Actually thought Sweden has a pretty talented group coming through, apparently not :D

Alexander Isak probably would have helped a bit although our striker options were still good, Nygren should have started IMO.

I've no idea about the Irish team, are they well thought of or was it above expectations?

This is the thing.  We have a very talented U21 side at the moment.  Particularly the forwards.  Some think they'd beat the senior side.  We're all waiting expectantly for them to make the breakthrough into the senior side.  The management are doing things properly.  They're not breaking up the U21 side.  A bit like Iceland did with their current crop.  They let them all come through together as a group.  We also have a plan in place so that the current U21 manager becomes the senior manager in a few year's time so he'll come through with them in theory.  So don't be too downbeat :)  We're genuinely excited by the next generation.  In fact some of our U21s are still eligible to play younger.  Parrott for one is still 17.

Nice!

Good luck to you, will be between you and Italy in the group.

Our weakness (on paper at least) is central defense.

Manager also a huge question mark for me.

And as you can see in the posts above, our U19s are in amongst the elite too.  The future is green baby ;)

:D

The big thing is to integrate those players into senior football and having them finding clubs where they get to play and develop.

From the Swedish side that won the 2015 U-21 Euro's we now have Nilsson-Lindeöf, Quaison, Augustinsson, Kristoffer Olsson and Hiljemark in or around the senior side.

But most of the others have not made the step up.

The Under 21 manager will replace McCarthy after 2020 so that is the long term plan that he will integrate them. 1st team football now that is another issue but some are at decent clubs to develop and a good few are home grown

Oh completely.  There's absolutely no guarantee that players will make the next step, or it could take them years if they do.  Look at Callum Robinson for example.  The Premier League is so hard to become established in, and most of those players are based in England, so at some point they may have to take one step backwards (Championship) to make two steps forwards.
