8. Liverpool's goal difference is +3. Liverpool have not had such a low goal difference at the end of a season since 1964-65, when it stood at -6

I am sure that Liverpool won the league in 1965, I am a bit surprised and confused by this stat.

They won the FA Cup that season, finished 7th in the league.

If you're a player or a team on a bad run, you absolutely must play Villa as soon as possible.

Yeah you'd fancy Carroll for a hat-trick with Downing getting a couple of assists. :(

Sad but true. Also, if I was a manager who had a new striker and Villa were a couple of games away, I'd save his debut to be against us = certain goal.

The Liverpool player with the highest number of tackles this season is Lucas

That cant be true, can it? Lucas hasnt kicked a ball in four months!

I also think this might be the worst Liverpool team I have seen in my lifetime (I'm 33) and I think they might not finish in the top half of the table for the first time since 1961/62, when they were promoted from the old D2 under Bill Shankly. They are currently 8th, which is their equal worst finish in this remarkable run of 50 years of top half finishes. They have only finished as low as 8th twice before too, 62/63 which was their first season in the top division under Shankly and 93/94, which cost Souness his job.

The Uruguayan striker never seems to be far from controversy and that continued at Anfield, where he picked up a yellow card after referee Michael Oliver ruled he was guilty of simulation following a challenge by Stephen Ireland.

Suarez also saw two penalty appeals waved away; the first when Chris Herd appeared to handle his cross and the second after he claimed to have been impeded by Alan Hutton.

Dalglish felt his forward was treated harshly by the officials and insisted the caution had not been merited.

'What chance have we got? Even Suarez's booking, the guy trod on him,' the Reds boss said.

'You can imagine the headlines tomorrow when he's been booked for diving. But the guy's actually trodden on him, he's lucky he's not broke his foot.'

The issue overshadowed a late goal from Suarez, which ensured the contest between two out-of-form teams ended even.

Villa went ahead thanks to a fine angled shot from Herd after just ten minutes, but then had to rely on goalkeeper Shay Given to keep them in the game.

The Irishman made a string of fine saves to deny Liverpool, who also suffered from some profligate finishing, most notably when Dirk Kuyt somehow managed to lift the ball over the bar from just two yards out.

Dalglish's men finally found a deserved equaliser in the 82nd minute, when Daniel Agger's header struck the woodwork and Suarez was on hand to nod home the rebound.

That's why it's such a startling stat.

However, I can't find a concrete source. A journo (I can't remember which) tweeted it. A google sees the stat referenced but I can't find any proper tackling stats to verify it.
