Welcome to AVFC McLeish and good luck

If the protest was about his ability rather than the fact he managed at birmingham than why was there no protest against Martinez? why was there no protest against McClaren?

Exactly. Give the man a chance, if he doesnt prove up to it then he will be replaced.

Because McLaren is a better manager than McLeish and Martinez is also a better manager with lots of potential. Both managers also don't play ridiculously boring football either.

my fear is another farce like this summer again in 12 months time

if that happens the club is screwed on all fronts

we desperately need mcleish to surprise everyone

Well Martinez and McClaren have never relegated a side for starters.

Pat Murphy reports on @bbc5live that McLeish should be confirmed as Aston Villa manager "in the next couple of hours." Three-year deal. #fb

At least 'someone' apparently knows what is happening..

Apparently being the 'key' word..

Pat Murphy- 3 Year deal and it will be announced this afternoon, basically to allow everyone at Villa to go home if protests start again.

I dont think I could watch his brand of football for 3 mins never mind 3 years

:(

I dont buy it, wigan only just stayed up and many on here were in uproar that we dared approach him, with schteve people were begging the general, moaning and cursing, threatening to not renew their ST etc..... the protest was because he is coming from the blue's, would people have protested against big sam? His style is perceived as just as negative as mcleish's.

We obviously have to lower our expectations but I still can't understand why we couldn't go for an up and coming name like Poyet or Greyson rather than plumping for someone we know will be mediocre and divisive.

You saw the reactions when Martinez and McClaren were bin the frame.

Gus Poyet or Grayson would probably blow the VT servers up, not to mention the lynch mob that would have gone down VP.

Basically, if it werent Ancelotti or Moyes...people were always going to moan

Poyet would have been a great appointment.

No sense at all in appointing McLeish.

All-time low for me

I agree...Poyet would have been a great appointment.

But were you saying that three weeks ago?? I doubt it.

Hindsights a wonderfull thing aint it.

I was
