I agree. Do we want a manager that has been to Burnley and Bolton or do we want one that has won the CL and managed barca, Galatasay and a nation team of great class?

What about van Gaal with AZ Alkmaar??? He went there won the league and got them in the champions league. I had never bloody heard of them before he went there !

Excellent point well made.

I am with you that he could be just what we need. We seem to be going towards using our academy and I think he could achieve success with a good core of academy players like he has done in Holland. Which is more than can be said for thingamebob (MON)

Replace 'van Gaal' with 'McClaren' and 'AZ Alkmaar' with 'FC Twente'.

I had heard of FC Twente

plus look at McClaren with Boro, Wolfsburg and England

now look at van Gaal with Ajax, Barcelona, Bayern and Holland

no real comparison

Owen Coyle's achievements in 8 years of football management

Honours

Burnley

* 2008–09: The Championship Playoff Winner (promotion to the Premier League) – Burnley

* The Championship Manager of the Month - September 2008

Bolton Wanderers

* Premier League Manager of the Month - November 2010

WOW

I think that says it all really NO THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell me what Hughes has done? Tell me what Moyes has done?

Crazy post!

Exactly, which is why I dont want Moyes, Hughes or Coyle

van Gaal all the way

In my opinion there is nobody better in the world football when it comes to academies.

The dutch are renowned for it, van Gaal is a proven master :thumb:

owen coyle has dropped to 5/2 on skybet. The PE teacher thing might be BS but someone has definatley been putting money on him.

If thats the height of our ambition then we are shagged

Coyle would be an Ellis style appointment.

The club needs something exciting to happen. At the moment, we so very boring.

You're surely not comparing somebody who was won almost everything going in three different countries to Steve McLaren?

van Gaal, by his CV alone plus the fact he's out of work (Ancelotti aside), is the outstanding candidate.

I just hope Randy agrees.

What they've done is prove they can deliver results in the Premier League consistently over a longer period than the first twenty-odd games of a given season. Only if Coyle has done this would the above look like a crazy post - as things stand, his list of accomplishments is very slight and in no way should he yet be considered a candidate with equal credentials to the likes of Hughes or Moyes.

But what do you expect with those teams, CL winners?! They are a very limited number of honours and a hell of a lot of teams after them each year, you need to look at achievements in context of the clubs where they happened. For example Moyes achieving 4th with Everton might not mean any medals get handed out but it's still a great achievement.

Well we all knew Young and Downing were leaving so I'm not sure why anybody taking the job would be suprised by that?

If its McClaren then I am going on a killing spree

Come of it!

Hughes - Won **** all

Moyes - Won **** all

Coyle - Won **** all

All have showed they can survive in the Prem, there is no difference between the 3.
